Thanks for the video, I've been looking for a tutorial like this for a long time. However, I initially struggled as I only have Photoshop and not Illustrator. I eventually figured out I could go 'image' - 'mode' - 'indexed color' change the 'Pallette' to 'Local (Perceptual' then choose the number of colors I wanted. I don't know if it is exactly the same as the illustrator part but it did help me only get rid of the in-between colors you spoke of. It did the job well enough and saved me from purchasing another piece of Adobe software that I'm sure I wouldn't get much other use from. Thanks for the video again!

Hey Kevin! I have been trying to set up a photo of my father and his late mother for him to create a wooden mosaic with, but am having a lot of trouble (I've been trying for weeks) editing the photo in photoshop to have only the four/five colors of wood he has purchased. Do you happen to take commissions, if I were to need help only with setting up the photo+grid, for him to make the mosaic off of? Please let me know!

As of right now Im not taking commissions, but if you want a tip, have a look at the part I did in Illustrator. After messing with the image in Photoshop there were still too many color, so in illustrator I could separate the colors with image trace. Also King of Random did a very similar project and explained the color process there too.

I'm pretty certain that if you are an evil woodworker, when you die and go to hell, you spend an eternity making projects like this.
