I think the only thing we can do is thank John for his contribution to our pleasure from Queens music and hope that he can find some peace now. Bless you John.
I hardly can imagine how heavy the loss of a man like Freddie Mercury must have been to him. Devastating. I mean: we - as Queen fans- we haven’t even known Freddie as a friend, yet we still miss the man till this day. I can totally understand John Deacon didn't want to continue anything that had to do with this big loss.
We respect your retirement John we love you. We miss you. We would love to see you play with the band live at least one more time that would truly be a blessing for us and the queen nation if you choose not to we still love you and thank you very very much, God bless you and your world
It's incredible to believe that I met John and the other members of Queen back in 1973 when they did a gig at my university and we did an inteview for our radio station. The band was virtually unknown at the time. We were all so young.
Awesome story id have loved to have seen them live and met them in the 70s. I didnt get onboard with it until 1980 .saw them live 11 times and Spoke to Freddie and Brian at elland road leeds 1982 night before Queen played a blistering performance there .
@@TheBlackcredonot true! Many musicians walk away from the business for different reasons! John knows he would be well off financially if he left the music business behind! He has not wanted to do music because Freddie died! He’s not greedy like Brian & Roger! He doesn’t need to live in the spotlight! He was always the quiet one of the band!
As a quiet person he found it difficult to go on stage and had to be encouraged and supported by Freddy. He may have found retirement from performing a relief.
John Deacon is arguably the most savvy member of former Queen. Receiving a nice royalty cheque every month for the hits he penned, plus 25% of every Queen record sold AND everything Roger and Brian are doing these days without lifting a finger!
He's done his fair share of work, he's made some of their most famous songs, he went through hell after Freddie died, he wants his privacy and that's fine. Getting royalties is perfectly fine, it's not like brian and Roger are slaving for him, they love him dearly
Well you asked what is my favorite Queen song, and I can't give you an answer. But as far a John Deacon is concerned, I will say that one of his best and most overlooked songs is "Who Needs You" from News of the World. I wish that entire Album got a little more attention these days, but I still remember the first time I heard it. I said to myself, "holy crap, Deaky! Great job!" That and Brian May's "Sleeping on the Sidewalk" are my favorite songs on that album.
My rule of thumb is whenever I see a channel name with "Facts" in it's name, there's a very high chance that the video is misleading. I was proven right.
John always said that he wanted to live a quiet life and both Brian and Roger have respected his wishes. He never felt the same after Freddie passed away and where Brian and Roger wanted to carry on the Queen legacy their way, John just wanted to come away from the limelight and focus more on his electronics engineering of which he gained qualifications in. He’s still involved with the band in the legal and business aspects but he’s chosen not to be up there on the stage any longer. Moving on I have to say that my favourite songs that he wrote are I want to break free and You’re my best friend. In fact they are what I would like played at my funeral
John is already immortal. And I'm not gonna criticize Brian and Roger, but John doesn't need to prove anything, or disprove, or refute, whatever. In his silence, it's still a glorious retirement, and it's not that which makes him a legend. He IS a Model Bassist and I think he did absolutely everything that a bassist must do in a band, from 'simply' laying the foundation to the band's sound, to being the "breath" of Queen, to achieveing true genius in his composition. I've always believed that a band, in the case of a loss, has the right to still try, it's certainly not up to us; we can like it or not, but it's their choice. And the other way around too, if they want to stop and move on, fantastic. Deacon went beyond duty, and he deserves his peace.
I think we may be very distantly related. My name was Deacon, and my grandpa Deacon's family came from Leicester, like John. There was a family Deacon in Went Road, Leicester in the 50s, and I think they had a John who would be much the same age. Unfortunately I can never be sure, as my dad's side of the family fell out with the rest of them. Pure speculation, but he does look like members of our family!
It's sad that he never used his unique talents ever again in other ventures. But I understand the great personal loss he felt with one of his closest friends dying. Grief affects people in different ways. I just wish the press would leave him alone.
By not having any part of May and Taylors continued sham I make him the most respected part of the living members of the best rock band ever Have a long happy retirement John
He is the best, respectable member of the surviving band but they are not the “best” rock band! They don’t come anywhere close to Zeppelin, who are the greatest band of all time! A Night At The Opera proves they are not close to the best!
Yeah, I didn't care that May and Taylor wanted to keep using the name. But recently with that horrible movie and Queen 1 remix I wonder what respect they have for their legacy? Non, perhaps.
Just another one of these ‘we don’t say anything new, because we don’t know anything new’ video’s. John came to Queen from obscurity and after Freddie’s death returned to obscurity. God bless you John, enjoy your life 🤘🤘
Exactly. The contents of this video amount to this: John Deacon is a quiet person bit played a vital role in the band. He didn't want to carry on with Queen after Freddie died and now leads a quiet life, avoiding publicity. Could all have been said in about 15 seconds.
😂 Come on, like all the surviving members of Queen. John Deacon is worth millions of dollars 💵. So why would he need to now care about anything. Except counting his millions !...
@@TheBlackcredoWhy not? If it's true what Taylor said about him never getting used to fame and being in the spotlight, it was pretty simple for him to just walk away once Mercury was gone, he must have felt it was nonsense to continue.
Favourite song without doubt is Radio GaGa. The highs and lows of the notes create a lovely melody, which cancels the rather silly title: there is nothing GaGa about the song!
What rumours? There ARE no rumours! When Freddie died, John couldn't handle it and left the band apart from a tribute gig for Freddie in 1995 and one more gig in 1998. And that was it - John then gave up music entirely.
"You're my best friend" and "In only seven days", Under pressure too is a good one. I "hate" Bohemian Rhapsody, far too pompous. And there's also a lot of rubbish on their albums. A "Best of" or Greatest Hits is more than enough. But then again, that can be said about many bands, including The Eagles, Dire Straits etc. Queen made some good songs, but I always felt "uneasy" with their stage acts and the whole press circus, it was so carnavelesque.
That was kind of the point of Queen. To be be big big big and absolutely ooze extravagance. That's where the "love it or hate it" comes into play. Many of the greatesd hits were some of the biggest, most royal songs, but somehow also the most digestible. Compare the greatest hits to the albums, and it's almost like a different version of the band wrote all the hits, and the albums kept all the real gold like buried treasure.
How very unkind of you. I am quite sure that if I were photographed in the morning, coming home after grabbing a bottle of milk and a newspaper, I would not be at my best, either. But, I scrubbed up very nicely for my nephew's wedding the week before last.
Let me save you 10mins, Deacon confirms nothing in this video.
Yeah, that was pure clickbait.
Thank you! Hate these things.
Thanks for the heads up
You are the champion of the world. I have ten minutes to do other stuff. (Minus a few seconds typing this, but thanks).
Thanks

Deacon was the only person who had the sense to realize that Queen ended with Mercury's death.
It was far more personal for him than that, otherwise he'd have continued his music career elsewhere.

John was perfect for Queen, a guy who was matter-of-fact and calm with both feet on the ground alongside Freddie's over the top mentality

To be honest, I believe they are one of many overrated bands ever.

Оставьте Джона в покое. Без Фредди нет Королевы.
И никуда он не уходил - ушёл Фредди. И все это понимают.
Queen was over when Mercury died. Just a cover band now.
Many of all that type are similar - although not many people know that…
Its good that Brian and Roger have publicly respected John's wish to step away.
😂 Come on, like all the surviving members of Queen. John Deacon is worth millions of dollars 💵. So why would he need to now care about anything. Except counting his millions !...
Because being an artist is not something you can just retire from. He was affected deeply by the loss of one of his dearest friends.

Deacon was badly affected by his fathers death before Freddie's, and freddie's pushed him over the edge.
He doesn’t have to worry about money, he’ll be receiving mechanical royalties for the rest of his life with his children!!!!!!

Whilst he played great the ‘92 Tribute show if you watch closely you can see his heart’s not in it.
Still get the feeling off Roger that he is a bit peeved at John's decision.

Just as the (real) Beatles must be considered as the foursome, so it is for Queen.
Given that the channel is call FactsVerse, ironic that the title is an out-and-out lie. Please don't lie to people.

Mr. Deacon and Mr. Freddie were true friends!
