- Installation guide for a third-party USB adapter. This USB adapter from Interphone features 2 USB ports that support fast charging (5V 2A). This video shows in detail all the necessary steps to install this USB adapter without cutting any cables or doing any other permanent damage/changes to the motorcycle.
About the connector: After A LOT of research online, I found out a code (6188-0004) for the connector that fits in the motorcycle's accessories plug. After a lot of time and many refunds, I managed to buy a set of these connectors from AliExpress.
About the "creative" solution for connecting the USB adapter: This solution is not ideal, however, I've used it for a while without any problems as a temporary fix. If you want to connect the adapter like this, just make sure the wires don't touch and isolate everything carefully.
Any questions? Feel free to leave a comment, I'll reply as fast as I can.

This video is very useful for me. Thank you.
You're very welcome my dude, ride safe. ✌
thank you for the research about the connector very helpfull :)
You're very welcome, I am honestly glad people find this as useful as I did. Thank you for your feedback too my man. Ride safe ✌
Thank you very much for this Video
It helps very much!!
Glad I could help, ride safe ✌
Thank you. Followed the instructions here to install Just a usb charger on my 2023 CBR650R.
Hey Rajiv,
Glad the video helped you, enjoy your CBR, I've also tested that model and it's a really cool bike 😅.
Great video, thank you. Do you think the process for the CB125R would be the same?
Hey Alan, I can't say for sure but as long as your motorcycle has the same accessories connector, the installation process should be fairly similar. If you manage to do it, or just try it, let me know. I hope I could help, ride safe ✌
Hello,
Good video. Why are you using an external Fuse? I think this cable is already protected by a fuse in the fuse box.
Just as a tip for the next time. You can also change both of the connectors. So you dont have to order this special one.
Very helpful video :)
Hey hey,
First of all thank you for your comment, I am still learning and I really enjoy constructive comments to help me grow and better myself.
Regarding the fuse, yes you are right. Looking at the wiring schematic I can see that the circuit is indeed fused. At the time I did not see that and also I didn’t want to cut the cables, if anyone else in the future wants to cut the cable and remove the fuse, it is safe to do so.
Regarding the special connector, my main goal was to change as little as possible. I didn’t want to cut or remve the connector from the motorcycle so I tried to find a way to make it work with the OEM one.
Glad you enjoyed the video, feel free to share more insights. Ride safe ✌️
Hi, great video. Do you know if it can also be put on the 8-pin connector and not on the 4-pin?
Hey. I can't help you there, I know the 4 pin connector works and so I didn't look for any other alternatives. Sorry man 😔
@@ChillMotoRides haha, okey. Don't worry, thanks for the help. 🥲
Hello.
To which cable did you connect the red and black from the connector?
Because the colours are not matching on the obd connector.
Hey. I don't really remember the colors but if you look closely on how I installed the wires in the connector, you can't go wrong since it only connects one way. Also, I should note that the connector on the bike I am using in this video is not the OBD connector, it is a connector specially made for accessories such as a USB charger 😁.
What is the USB cable length you used while installing?
Hey, it was a while back I might not be remembering correctly but I think it was 1.5m. I hope this helps you ✌
Hi. Does this power on only on ignition? Or power all the time? What's the power output for this port? TIA.
The charger only draws power when the ignition is on. In the beginning of the video I have a little clip showing this feature. I hope this helps you ✌
Also, the power output is 5V 2A
There are two sets of connectors in the protection boot. One seems to have 4 cables and one seems to have 8 connectors. Is the 8 connector the diagnosis connector?
You are only using two (switched positive and negative I assume) on a pack of 4. What are the purpose of the other two wires?
Hey John, honestly I cannot help you here. I know that the connector I use is used as an accessories plug, so I used that one. After some research and testing I found out that those two wires are indeed (and as you said) the switched positive and the negative. That's what I needed to know so I didn't do a lot more research on the rest of the wiring. Sorry if I wasn't super helpful but if I find anything else of note I'll let you know.
@@ChillMotoRides Thanks anyway for replying.
Hola amigo. Que aparato usb has usado? Tienes link? Gracias y sigue así de bien.
Hello, my Spanish is not that good so I'll write in English, sorry about that 😁. I bought mine at my local Honda dealer but here's a link to the official product page: www.interphone.com/en-it/Accessories/Charge-and-utility/HANDLEBAR-MOUNTED-DOUBLE-USB-PORT/p/ACCMOTO2USB
I hope this helps
@@ChillMotoRides Sorry, I thought youtube translated. Thank you.
@@carlossuafei9287 No worries man, good luck ✌
@@ChillMotoRides I just put the usb and everything is perfect and very easy with the original connector of the motorcycle. Thank you!!!

Hey man, really glad I could help you 😁 Enjoy the adapter and most importantly, enjoy your motorcycle. Ride safe ✌💪
@@ChillMotoRides obrigado pelo resposta!
@@fabiojalmeida Sem problema, boas curvas ✌
What's the 12v socket? Could you send me link? Thank you
Hey man,
I bought this 12v charger at my local Honda dealer however you can find it (or a similar one) in almost any motorcycle store. Here is the official product link for this specific charger (also updated the video description), I hope it helps, any other questions, feel free to ask:
www.interphone.com/en-gb/Accessories/Charge-and-utility/HANDLEBAR-MOUNTED-DOUBLE-USB-PORT/p/ACCMOTO2USB
@@ChillMotoRides thank you. Now I am triying to make the connector, how do you know what hole is + and -?? I have the same conector with 4 holes
@@sergiomunoz2424 So the charger I used only needs 2 cables, those are the positive and negative. The motorcycle does have 4 terminals available but you won't need 2 of them.
Looking at the wiring schematic, you'll need the terminal that connects to the solid purple cable (switched hot (+)) and the terminal that connects to the solid green cable (ground (-)).
I hope this helps.
Thank you!!! Very usefull your help
Where did you get the connector?
Hey, I bought mine from AliExpress, in the video description you can find the connector reference, search for it in their website, shouldn't be too hard do find.
@@ChillMotoRides That is awesome thank you! Great vid by the way! Keep up the good work
Why is this necessary? Honda advertises that there is a USB port under the seat?
Yes indeed, the new 2021 models now come standard with a USB socket under the seat, although this is not the case for older models such as my 2019 Honda CB650R.
The USB port on the 2021/2022 is also only for European models apparently, Canadian and I believe American bikes don't have them because screw us I guess 🙂
WRONG CONNECTOR for MY21
What do you mean? If you mean that the connector is not the same for the 2021 version, I think that version already comes with a USB adapter installed if I am not mistaken.
@@ChillMotoRides yes you're right, it already has a USB c plug but I'd like to connect anyway a wireless charger support for the smartphone to the same plug you used in the video as it has 12v input
never, NEVER put a cable under the tank like this, alwaishold it to frame
Hey,
The cable has very little slack and if you look closer, you'll see that it's not being routed through any dangerous areas of the engine. I've been using a cable like this since before the video came out (also installed it like this on another bike) and there were no issues with it. I've even swapped the cable later for a newer one and after inpecting the old cable, there were no signs of any kind of damage on it. With this said, if you (or any other viewer) are still worried about the cable positioning, I guess there is no harm in using some zip ties to hold the cable to the frame. Thank you for your comment and ride safe ✌
