My parents told me that there were whole blocks that would have contests for the best Christmas displays ( Chattanooga during the 40's - 50's ). I wish I'd been around to see it. I bet it was a lot like this, except for the music.
Handel’s Messiah which is also the Hallelujah chorus can be played all year long, not just for Christmas, Easter & Pentecost Sunday which is 7 weeks after Easter but the entire year.
Wow, I would kill myself out of frustration trying to string all those lights, and synchronizing it all together like that-- major applause for not only the result but the patience it had to have taken to set all that up.
WOW! Words can not even describe how impressed I am by this. THIS IS SO AWESOME!!!! I am just elated watching this. You should join the Animusic team. This is their specialty. That was so exciting and thrilling all at the same time. I can not imagine how your neighbors feel. LOL.
Truth be told, in some places the neighbors do complain. Initially it starts out as unique and something to behold but after hours and hours of flashing lights of this intensity. Here in Utica, there is an entire neighborhood who does this and charges admission to drive down the roads. What's really cool is to drive up on a hilltop and look down on it from a far, the flashing lights make it look like the neighborhood is being bombed from above. Merry christmas all....
i used to do this same kind of stuff with the light at my house during christmas, but then electric bills got high and O_o but i still love seeing other peoples work with this, so awesome :D
As far as copyright infringement, they must be insane. It's seeing these videos that first brought me to buy certain music. The more people that see these, the more that might go out and purchase the music!
Omg I love it! The time that must have went into that display :O. Great job, I wish someone around my house would do something awesome like that! :D God I love Christmas.
when I heard this it immediately made me think of the Main Street Electrical Parade in the Magic Kingdom. I was picturing all the lit up characters dancing
+david aukofer Actually, the electric bill isn't as bad as having Christmas lights that aren't synchronized. I have a friend who is friends with someone who did this one year as a school project and I asked if the electric bill was higher than normal or not and they said no that it was about the same.
I know that's the popular thought, but it's simply not true. My Nov electric bill was $50, my Dec bill was less than $100. I've made copies and will post to my website soon.
@skullcrusher301 I added the audio after the video was taken. I forgot to mute the video so you still get the background noise. When the show runs normally it plays through an FM transmitter so you listen from your car. But I can't get a good audio to record on the camera, it's just easier and cleaner to add the audio in after the fact, but it's the same as the viewer would see/hear it.
Actually I asume he has a bill somewhere around $100 a month. This is because the lights are only on 1/3 of the time simply because they are flashing not static (not flashing). This means that you might spend more on your christmas season electricity bill thank he does.
@123kingkongphoto Well I hate to correct you but Rush Limbaugh has given a lot of money to charity in the past and continues to do so, particularly to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation and to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Also you can't really compare him to people like Turner, Buffet and Gates as they all have way more money than Limbaugh has or ever will have.
@grodq I live in STL for many years (go cards) mostly south side. Good luck in the current economic climate. The Lou had a shortage of industry to start with.
That happens a lot, thats why there is an increase in car crashes because of these and the cops sometimes will tell them to shut it down. I went to a house like this... FREAKING amazing. And it wasn't as nice as this vid.
when did mannhiem steamroller release this song? it has a definite 80s feel and the beginning drumbeat gets me going :) *i'm a TSO fan but i like this song too
@ur2beutiful The one who posted the video said that he made video's for this year. I could find those but I saw some of last year. so maybe you can check them out?!
Yeah, maybe they use LED lights, like they make for Christmas displays ( eco - friendly ) so, it would use less electricity & the lights would last, AND be less of a fire - hazard than conv. lights. Anything that brings joy is NOT a waste.
No, I'm afraid value is subjective. So I say it is a great USE of electricity. But the homeowner paid for it, so it is theirs to use as they see fit. Just like you can waste or use electricity for your computer that your using to waste/use time on RUclips.
I love the lights and the song from mannheim steamroller and it was the number one Christmas song of all time
My parents told me that there were whole blocks that would have contests for the best Christmas displays ( Chattanooga during the 40's - 50's ). I wish I'd been around to see it. I bet it was a lot like this, except for the music.
This is one of the most unique versions of Handel's Hallelujah Chorus I have ever heard. Incredible.
Handel’s Messiah which is also the Hallelujah chorus can be played all year long, not just for Christmas, Easter & Pentecost Sunday which is 7 weeks after Easter but the entire year.
Words cannot describe how amazing this lighting display is! I would love to see this in person!
Mannheim ... saw them last Christmas ... well worth the time. Tix are a tad salty but it's an unforgettable show. I play this song even in the summer.

@Thomaslver Not in this version. 2010 will be my first year for some LED's. I've replaced all the Blue C9s and blue icicles with LEDs.
Superbly done
FANTASTIC IN SIGHT AND SOUND.......BUT WONDER HOW THE NEIGHBORS SLEEP :)

Holy electric bill...

You said it Bat man.
LEDS man
Wow, the song sounds like something you would find on an old Synthesizer Greatest album! Cool!
I know that's the popular thought, but it's simply not true. My Nov electric bill was $50, my Dec bill was less than $100. I've made copies and will post to my website soon.
No. The music is broadcast over an FM transmitter and you listen from the comfort of your car on the radio.
This video is great!!
So did ours! It was so much fun! :-D
Cool!!

Oh, America. Everything is a spectacle! I love it.
JOY to your world!

This is as good as the original Wizards of Winter house. Kudos =)
awwsome!
It's beautiful :'-)
Would love to see how you would do the Steamroller's version of Fum, fum, fum That would I suspect be real interesting. Perhaps next year?
That happens a lot, thats why there is an increase in car crashes because of these and the cops sometimes will tell them to shut it down.
I went to a house like this... FREAKING amazing. And it wasn't as nice as this vid.
The beginning sounds similar to chariots of fire. I have always liked Manhiem Steamroller.
wow!
when did mannhiem steamroller release this song? it has a definite 80s feel and the beginning drumbeat gets me going :)

@ur2beutiful The one who posted the video said that he made video's for this year. I could find those but I saw some of last year. so maybe you can check them out?!
jesus christ! how did they put that together? its like revenge of the nerds christmas special!
Yeah, maybe they use LED lights, like they make for Christmas displays ( eco - friendly ) so, it would use less electricity & the lights would last, AND be less of a fire - hazard than conv. lights.
Anything that brings joy is NOT a waste.
hope you are going to have the lights up again this year. I want to see them and since I am in St. Louis :)
haha i always wonder what the neighbors think of these light shows! really great job though.
@ur2beutiful Of course, each year, new lights, new songs. Check out our channel and see our 2010 videos.
There's actually a machine you can hook all the lights up to so you don't have to sychronize them.
c'est beau !
Imagine seeing that as you drive down the street...you'd be wondering what the heck was going on!
Ha!
That's awesome!
How do you do it?!
Ha ha.
Must take a lot of time.
This is sooooooooooooooooooo coool
opps that goes here about jammin!!!!!!

Can I higher you to set up our christmas lights, you seem to know how to do it correctly.
I'm related to ron cooley.
My neighbors do something like this every year! This is so much cooler, though!
lol! Very nice!
yay Hallelujaeh Chourus!
Is this played from a speaker or was the music added to the video after you taped the lights with no sound?
Yea baby just keep jammin!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oscilloscope rigged up to a Computer and Transformer.
Oscilloscope >> Computer >> Transformer >> Lights
Chip Davis is an inspiration. Fans of Mannheim Steamroller just MAY enjoy "The Christmas Project" as well.
( tinyurl DOTCOM /TCP2009 )
@grodq how was it so cheap? Ive been wanting to do something like this but thought it would be too much
one light goes out and its completely ruined
Was this the song they played in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, today?
god damn it, i have to go to church tommorow, and its 1:40 Am. shit ass.
God, this must've been super expensive!
I live close to there =D
L E D s' are VERY cheap to run!! a tenth of how much it would be with regular lights.
Nope. My house is still standing.
ok How do you do it ...i mean get the lights to dance like that ... where do i go to get the thing at ?
