  • In this video I showcase my max benchpress progress. Clips are from October 6th - January 2nd.
    In August of 2022 when I first started lifting in my attic. I did 90 for 9 whilst only weighing about 90lbs. I estimate my 1 rep max was 115.
    In late October I created my own "powerbuilding program." I watched a few YT videos and whipped something together.
    I also learned how to properly "progressive overload." For the most part. I had alot of help with learning from an experienced lifter.
    I continued "my powerbuildimg program" up until my most recent pr.
    After my 175 pr I got a real powerbuilding program. Which I am currently on. And will be on until I decide to switch it.
    I will also showcase all of my other maxs in the next coming videos.

    I remember doing 315 for the first time and it was like facing down a new path of inanity. When you start pushing beyond 225 its best to stay slow and be 100% sure your form is 100% on point! As for me im not into powerlifting anymore and just adding reps to 225 now.

    I got stuck on 185 for a while because during my school's max out week in weights the deadlift PR hurt my back and I had to bench the next day. After that I finally broke 185 and hit 195, and a couple days ago I finally hit 200 and was jumping and screaming after. When I tried out my old PR of 185 and it felt like Thor lifting Mjolnir, I knew the 200 was happening. Today I am going to attempt 205. If I lift it, great. If not, doesn't really matter.

      Run a powerlifting program if all else fails. Make sure your form is good as well and your recovery and eating is on point. Hard to get a bigger bench if you’re not eating enough, speaking from experience.

  • @KevinGagicaru50
    @KevinGagicaru50 8 месяцев назад

    Good job on your PRs, however I feel like just chasing a PR is the wrong mindset for a relative new lifter, just try to progress as a good rate and make sure you track your workouts, going for 1RM doesn't do much, will only increase injury chances if you chase it. In second and third clip your ass lifts off the bench, which wouldn't be considered a proper lift. What im trying to say, is that there is no need to chase to impress other people and do 1RM, just lift to have fun and improve your life.

    • @Astrothunder_
      @Astrothunder_ 8 месяцев назад +1

      Chasing PRs makes the MOST sense as a beginner because
      1. You are so new and the weight you are pushing is so light that you will realistically be able to progressive overload very consistently (mostly for reps but also for 1RM) and 2. You don’t have the visual motivation or feedback of all your effort to really help push you to get your ass to the gym. Your brain may not even see going to the gym as a habitual thing yet. But at least you got that number grind! Or at least that’s how this noob to the gym treats it 😊

    You flare your elbows out. If you can’t lift with correct form then you should lower the weight. One rep maxes are for competition only, never go for one rep maxes in the gym because you’ll only hurt yourself eventually and halt your progress. Always train within the 5-12 rep range, you’ll get stronger, I promise.
