- Terry on fine form as Sir Cuthbert Ware-Armitage in this excellent ensemble comedy - also known as Those Daring Young Men In Their Jaunty Jalopies! He stars here alongside old friend and Magnificent Men co-star Eric Sykes and the great Tony Curtis. They just don't make 'em like this anymore!
Loved this film as a kid!
The brilliant terry thomas
Tony Curtis sweating for his humor, while it comes so effortlessly to Terry-Thomas.
It's TERRY-THOMAS and ERIC SYKES two very underrated British comedic character actors very talented in their day.
Watching Terry-Thomas and Eric Sykes "at work" is a distinct pleasure. But watch Tony Curtis handle the cards. He learned how while playing Harry Houdini on film and publicly thanked that film's producer George Pal and "The Amazing" Dunninger for that.
You're absolutely right! They don't make 'em like this any more.
One of the first films I ever saw at the cinema. The film was very underrated at the time and deserved more success than it received. Excellent ensemble acting from all the cast, with Terry-Thomas at his caddish best and Eric Sykes a superb foil.
Unbelievably, this classic film is still not available on DVD in the UK.
Thanks for uploading one of the best scenes in the movie
"Perkins. Do we have to have this bloody row!"
starfleet007 still not available. I've been trying to get hold of it for Christmas.
one of my fave films
Best line. "Fifteen-hundred miles, on the most diabolical roads, in the most inclement weather in Europe and finishing... in MONTE CARLO."
R.I.P Eric Sykes
sensacional Terry-Thomas
sensational even
Terry-Thomas was so Snidely Whiplash in this movie ;)
"Perkins"
One of my favorite parts was when Terry said to Perkins: "I think my genius is rubbing off on you"
Marvellous film and the squeal The Great Race was brilliant to Jack Lemon and
@starfleet007 It was released in the States uncut on both LaserDisc and DVD, but under it's American title of "Those Jaunty Young Fools in Their Jaunty Jalopies. The American theatrical cut had some 30 minutes taken out, but thankfully none of those scenes are missing from the LD and DVD releases, of which I own a copy of both.
STAY AWESOME! :)
TT on great form.
Tony Curtis takes over the factory,,,, what can you do?!?!
Let's not forget Peter Cook and Dudley Moore!
Oh yes please let's.....never found them remotely funny.
They certainly don't make films like this anymore. And there'll be no actors who could possibly pull it off. All we can see in films these days are blood-spitting CGIs and naked bodies.
Where are all those ladies and gentlemen?
Where are all those Terry-Thomases, Charlton Hestons, Jeremy Bretts, Noël Cowards, Anton Walbrooks, Charles Boyers, Gert Fröbes, etc, etc, *and* etc!???
Very good - are there any clips of the mayor presenting the cup,
They are really trying hard to make tony curtis look young, his pushing 45 here, and his hair is dyed. His was a fantastic actor, but could not pull off trying to be someone, in his early 30's. If it was 8 or 10 years before no problem.
ive never seen a 144p on youtube before
Wars 144 p?
