Contax was on another level such a shame that they no longer exist
The Aria is in my opinion the most beautiful 35mm camera. It's design is timeless, retro but also very modern. The perfect blend.
Fujifilm designed xt series based on its look
Love my Aria. It took me decades of using Contax SLR's and many Contax Zeiss lenses to finally land on the Aria. It's the most advanced and refined Contax SLR in their history, and a great baby brother to my RTS III. Cheers Bellamy!
I must have followed the same windy road as you did..:)
@@naaldvoerder It's been a good road, the Contax/Zeiss journey...
Hello, I bought the aria 70 years Limited Edition ... Without lens. Is the black version of the zeiss tessar 45mm the same as the one that came out with the 70 years?
That is a beautiful camera and I can see the Porche influence in the design!
Always good to see a jch video...kudos from MANHATTAN
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for showing us this great camera. This was perhaps your best video presentation to date. Loved the gentle flow of movement through the scenes.
Nice vid.
The swan song of Contax, but what a swan song! Even the brochure was a piece of art!
Somewhere in your mailbox there must be pic of my 2 Aria's for the "Whats in your bag" feature. Both of them all black , but apart from the paint job, I think they share all features with the anniversary release.
Don't be to heart stricken by Contax demise. Unless you think autofocus is an improvement, the line-up they left us, leaves little to be desired. From the - feature loaded, buil like a vault - RTS III to the demure and elegant Aria, there is little left wanting.
Both the Nikon FM3a and Contax Aria were their manufacturers' swan songs to film photography, with only one still existing today…
Contax 35mm SLRs seem to be this totally under-appreciated collection of great cameras.
Excellent! I have a big collection of Contax Zeiss Lens I use with my Black Magic Pocket cinema camera but also I own a Contax TVS camera and really miss shooting with SLR as I grew up with my father's camera that later became my camera at designer college in the 90s.
I'm really looking for the perfect body to my collection of lens and looks like this is it! I really want this camera! Looks lovely!
I live in Kanagawa in Japan and I just discovered your channel. Lovely! Hope to meet you here in Kanto one day! Cheers!
Ive had my aria for 5+ years and still feel spoiled by her.
nice camera bag btw ;)
Thanks 😅
Genuinely appreciate the info but also damn Thanks for spiking the prices lol
Awesome work Bellamy, as usual. I love Contax cameras ever since I bought my T2 from you 6 years ago :). BTW what film stock did you shoot with? Amazing photos and I'm loving the colours.
Judging from the package @5:00, it's ISO 400 Kodak, most likely Ultramax. Portra 400 canisters typically don't have a big Kodak label on them.
Just wanted to note that the production of these videos keep getting better and better. Thank you and great job Bellamy!
Much appreciated!
Who makes that camera bag?
Hello, thanks to your video I bought the aria 70 years Limited Edition ... Without lens. Is the black version of the 45mm the same as the one that came out with the 70 years? 🙋🙋
Talking about cameras being made today, I don´t know if you can answer this, but is the project you were involved with of possibly building a compact camera still going or, at least, is it still even a possibility for the future?
I was thinking about the same thing not so long ago. I remember Bellamy was talking about creating his own compact camera…would really like to know what happened to that project…out of curiosity, not more
such an icon
Contax steel alive?? 😊.Tchuss, pierro, user of contax. Camera since 30 years….
nearly had me on the NFT gag
My favorite film camera, bar none - although I do prefer the standard black version.
It’s not just the film camera companies who didn’t make the transition to digital who are fading away. The digital camera market is shrinking as well. I’ve said it before film cameras will be still functioning while many digital cameras have failed.
Ironically, and unfortunately, many Contax cameras have already failed. They're nearly impossible to have repaired and they still cost more than the average film camera. That's not to mention the LCD leaks in nearly every model since they started using them. I do prefer mechanical cameras and that's why I think that Pentax's return to film is a big deal. Otherwise there will be no options in the future and that would equal the demise of film production.
Thanks a lot for another great video. How long is the approximate shipping time for one of those long sleeve shirts and a hoodie to the US?
They are printed in the US, so it should be pretty quick. Thanks
I think the i4R might have been Contax's last breath of air. It was my first digital camera after using a G1 for years. I still have mine, but the battery's long dead.
Other than the color, what is the difference between this and any other Aria?
I Hate to be that guy ...However there are only 2 Contax cameras actually designed by Porsche the CONTAX T and the Original CONTAX RTS every thing else was designed independently by Yashica and then Kyocera..The main work of Porsche was industrial design which you can see in the ergonomics and handling of the cameras especially with the RTS ...that layout and philosophy was then carried forward into the subsequent models ....so the whole Porsche Design thing its a bit of an internet myth with the rest of the cameras .... the closest the Aria came to Porsche Design would be if it was in the glove box of a 911 ....But that to one side ...it is a lovely lovely camera
Given their class, good engineering and attention to detail, Contax probably would've been giving the big boys a really good run for their money, had they survived. May have even been making them sweat!! But, that's for some alternative universe to enjoy and experience. Ours is all the more poorer for it.
Was that film Ultramax 400?
What are the differences between the regular Aria and the 70th edition.
The color scheme.
"what do you do when you need an SLR that is tiny and packed with features?" You buy a Pentax MX.
Good luck putting Zeiss on that..
@@naaldvoerder you know that Zeiss made m42 lenses right? Like actual, made in Germany zeiss.
@@jr-wv4qw I do. but I didn't know the MX was an m42 mount camera..
@@naaldvoerder you’ve never seen the pentax brand adapter that turns the mount into an m42 mount then. Also, plenty of pentax glass that’s as good as zeiss or better. Won’t find the 35-105 stack of primes from zeiss.
I love this camera but those scans at the end are butchered...
for real wayyyy over-sharpened
Please don't make videos about the Aria. I want to buy one without overpaying :(
Don't worry about overpaying for the Aria. They are dead cheap. The overpaying will start when the CZ addiction hits..;)
@@naaldvoerder This...:)
Delete this videooooooooooo don’t make the Aria another T2
No AF so little chance the Kardashians are going to bother with it.
