    I’ve straight piped my R18 too. The sound was amazing. My setup was catback, res delete and replaced with 2inch pipe (factory pipes are 1.7/8) and instead of muffler I placed a 3 inch pipe for the last 3 feet. Sounded amazing but I’ve got many complains about how loud it was, so I replaced the 3inch with a universal muffler with is still loud, but more tolerable. However I’m going to put the 3inch back on it again since I loved the way it sounded.
    Also those are crackles you hear. Backfire really happens when you don’t have a cat and if you remove it you can have real flames shooting out the back. Unfortunately where I live removing the cat is illegal, but still I can do catback straight pipe which I’m going to do very soon.
    Btw if you plan to keep it straight pipe make sure to add extra piping to where your exhaust is cut, otherwise you’ll have all the deadly fumes coming inside and that can be dangerous. Specially if you drive with your windows up, you might feel dizzy and can crash. Stay safe and keep making more videos.😉 👍

    A fuel-injected engine may backfire if an intake leak is present (causing the engine to run lean), or a fuel injection component such as an air-flow sensor is defective. ... Poor or unregulated engine timing is often a cause of intake backfires, but can also be responsible for exhaust backfires. just an fyi once more

    • @sleeper.simulant7327

      Backfire is caused by fuel that isn’t burned, so a rich fuel mixture not lean....

    My car is A 2008 Honda Civic LX, and I removed all the exhaust garbage.
    It has only now a strait pipe direct from the engine to the back.
    The sound is 100% loud, and since that in my part of the country they abolished exhaust testing.
    There is no way for me to lose having a Straight pipe fully open exhaust.
    The sound is like a V8 Turbo without exhaust restriction's, and the cop's don't give a crap as long I don't push it hard when I take off at stop sign's or traffic light's.

    Pros: It's loud, makes it more fun to drive. You really get a feel for rev matching when your engine drowns out everything else.
    Cons: Straight pipes sound like SHIT compared to any performance exhaust, raspy and gross. Gives that classic "Fart can" sound. Bite the bullet and buy a Skunk2 Megapower RR catback - It's the same volume as straight pipes, but has a deep throaty rumble with no rasp. (Well, as deep as you can get with a 4 banger) Hands down the best exhaust I've heard yet on a Civic.
    Also straight piped cars don't have catalytic converters, this car just has a muffler delete. It probably has a small resonator too, but I would have to look underneath it to be sure.

    Hey bud, i know this is an older video, I didn't look to see if anyone commented on the matter, but its called "afterfire." Backfire is through the intake (when ignition isn't correctly set and a flame comes out of carburetor), and afterfire is "unburned" fuel combusting in the exhaust. Backfiring isn't very common in a fuel injected vehicle, something would be very wrong if that was the case.

    2012 - 2015 Hyundai accents use the same engine as the Veloster with same HP output, yet it weighs 200 IBS less then Veloster and with aem filter ($70), muffler + resonator delete ($100-$150) will do 0-60 in 6 second range (6.8s - 7.0s) those are the consistent times I got with that intake and exhaust setup on my 2012 accent 6speed manual transmission without any tune. If you search "2013 Hyundai Veloster straight pipe" and find the one of the white Veloster (no turbo) parked in a traffic intersection, my car sounds identical to that. Also if I go easy on the throttle I average 48 US MPG.

      none of what you did will make your car faster. gotta get it tuned brother

    • @TheUchihasparky
      @TheUchihasparky 2 года назад

      @@jessemills5951 you are misinformed, running the ECU for the modifications you make is optimal, but your still get consistent and sizable gains from modifications without a tune. Your stock ecu has sensors and must maintain homogeneous air/fuel ratio, if more exhaust is able to escape the cylinder and more/cooler air is coming in through the intake valves the computer must compensate by injecting more fuel and making more power. Mighty Car Mods proved this many times but the best example is when they put NOS in their Honda S2000, and put it on the dyno with the factory ecu and no tuning and it gave over 50% more horsepower and that was all the stock ecu figuring everything out. They later did custom Haltech ecu and got more but it proves my point well enough.

    • @cheesehandles
      @cheesehandles 2 года назад +1

      it’s just a muffler delete, a true straight pipe involves removing the resonator(s) and catalytic converter, as for the sound, the tone of the car can be affected by the diameter of the pipe, as it can cause distortion and an envelope effect on the sound waves it gives off, similar to a trumpet or how a clarinet has a flared tip

      RebornChiekoGaming yes but itll sound like ass. The hondas sound particularly terrible without a resonator

    With straightpipe you loose power. So your 140hp crapbox has a 100 now

      Not if you add a short ram intake or turbo.

    Does it effect the gas consumption too?

    Technically it can also be caused by running lean.

    Can’t be straight piped if you still have the Cat...

  • @ornatehammer661

    It needs a software update becouse it does not have a stock exhaust anymore and the car isn't running right, so you have to give it for a few hours to a dude who is gonna put it on dyno, reprogram it so it will have correct air&fuel ratio.
    Cons: no more backfire
    Pros: better gas milage and a car that is running right.

    Had no idea civics backfired like that. Did the old guy retune it for fuel off throttle?
