- Let's play Hearts of Iron IV! In this campaign I'll be playing as Carlist Spain (if the civil war goes as planned) with the ultimate aim of restoring the Spanish monarchy and the glorious Spanish Empire of days gone by! The AI is set to non-historical focuses so the world is about to descend into random chaos.

I found this campaign really fun to watch. From the early struggles, the pain of a lagging economy, and the eventual rise of the Spanish Empire and conquest of the US was great viewing.
It was nice to see a really good supply network built up extending southward from the Barents Sea, with the seaports on the Barents Sea linked up by railroad to each other, with railroads extending inland from the seaports on the Barents Sea to sometimes newly constructed supply hubs, and air transport being made use of. Eventually, Moscow was successfully conquered by soldiers that had moved southward from the Barents Sea.
Another great play through. I really enjoyed the tiny beginning in the civil war all the way though to an empire.
I think we can safely say the Spanish Empire has been well and truly restored :)
Think its time you play the Allies! Just finished watching your Finland LP, man that was AWESOME! Especially the way you took out Petersburg. Excited to see what comes next!

I'll definitely get around to mods one day, after trying out quite a few non-historical scenarios here. Actually there are a few historical campaigns I want to revisit too :)
The books you mentioned in the end, is that those pocket-sized books?

Yes those were the ones. They are a little shorter than A5 size if I remember right. I loved them as a kid and I think they've made a bit of a comeback now.

does anyone know exactly what causes your capured territory to go to the ally whose territory you left from (when they are a co-belligerant of yours)
I think it's supposed to be determined by whosever territory to left/attacked from. Naval invasions are supposed to go to you no matter the colour of the territory you left from, but I'm not sure it always works like this.

I didn't know until recently that Brazil was actually fighting on the side of the Allies in the war. Apparently they sent a division to Europe that fought in Italy.
