This video shows the heart and soul of fishing and where the future is! Jamie’s face when asked if he’d fish commercially for his country is heart breaking. This guy is the man and has been for years, yet still aspires for more. Snooker has it in the rocket, tennis has in Djokovic, football has it in messi, etc etc! Jamie is a legend of country and this sport!
So the Freestyle World Championships is basically a feeder event, where you can use a method/hybrid feeder rather than conventional feeders. Last year's event was in South Africa and the year previous was Hungary. England have recently appointed Tom Pickering as manager to select a team to fish this year's event in Spain.
If they ever started a commercial World team event, England could possibly put 3 teams in and finish 1st,2nd & 3rd. However how many countries have good enough commercial fisheries to host the tournament.
im Only 24 been fishing since i was 10 with my grandad and honestly match fishing and course fishing is just brillant. you see kid on the pool and there are just throwing a pre riged rod with some bread but theyed never give the sitting on a box and working out how the pool and the fish are behaving and work at winning the challenge
Remember when Fisho used to run an international champs the day after the final from 2013-16 (England won 3 times 😉) Other teams involved were Holland Belgium Wales Ireland Italy France & Scotland in case you wondered 👍🏻 Although Japan also has a massive & very competitive commercial match scene
The England teams should have a lot more financial help from tackle manufacturers in my view. They make enough money out of the sport. Would love to see Jamie n Bennett and others fishing a commercial world Cup.
Angling trust should sponsor it, the anglers are representing their country not a tackle company. They sponsor a lot of domestic teams. It’s a travesty that anglers have to pay thousands of pounds to fish for England
@@danielcrown5102 , definitely agree about the anglers having to fork out for it. It's not right. Yes that's a good idea about the trust sponsoring them
Are we not all lure fishing.whatever we put on a hook .. pellet, corn ,meat maggot etc were trying to lure a fish to eat the bait... Jamie what about the feeder masters pairs who would your partner in crime be.. Richard or Andy...
I find it quite sad that these top guys won't get to represent their country at the highest level. Clearly they are happy in what they do, winning matches and making a living from fishing. I'm surprised that our international match fishing team effectively penalise leading anglers financially for being involved. For me fishing is a hobby and I would jump all over the chance to fish for England but I don't have the pressure of paying for gas and my kids shoes through fishing. Fascinating insight.
🤔 In my opinion (which means absolutely nothing)... Jamie, bagga, power etc probably the best commercial anglers in the country I think we can all say that.... However, when was the last time you fished a raging torrent of a river with a massive flat float trying to get one bite to win your section... You're a brilliant angler Jamie on commercials are you as good as will raison???

Fishing has always missed out in the same way short oval motorsport has, for some reason people (& sponsors) don’t see fishing as a real sport & oval racing as a real motorsport. We have multiple world champions in many sports that gets past over.
Pole lengths, bait limits, no legering, zones that fish can't leave, a totally different mindset, a large Bank account, team mentality...ie fish methods your told to fish and don't deviate from the plan.
@@davidlynch1761 thanks, so who decides who to fish for England? Are there any blokes who have done both. I’m thinking Tommy P, Lee Kerry, Rob Wootton? Also, what’s the difference between the England team with Matt G and the other one?
@@hishaamadam1460 the manager picks a squad, they practice on the venue or a similar venue then the manager decides who fishes. The feeder squad has the same principles around selection.
I would not fully agree, in Belgium, Netherlands, France, Italy and lesser in Germany the sport is very popular. So EU championship would be more an option. The fishing has much less media exposure and much less high money events as a result. EU fishing is different when it comes to target fish. There a very little F1‘s and much more larger carp. The venues we fish average carp weight will average 4Kg with fish upto 10Kg plus on pole. There are some fantastic commercial anglers in EU.. would love to see a match..
@@antonlangbroek3453 I live in Nantes, France and I have the impression that commercial competition angling isn't very developed but maybe in other parts of France it's different.
@@paulheelis4798 Interesting insight. In the areas were we fish in France a lot is Alcase. Lots of pole and method feeder matches in carp only commercials. As close to the German border lots of German anglers also compete there. (As catch and release is forbidden in Germany) As being Dutch living in Germany I divide my matches over Belgium, France and Netherlands. Hard work as I am required to drive 4 hours plus for a match (one way)

I think a commercial world cup would be brilliant, however, do other countries have commercials like the UK? Or is it a UK thing?

what happened to kieren riche neil machin and giles cochrain?
You need to get matt Godfrey and James dent and have a 2 leg match on a natural venue and a commercial to see who best anglers are that would be mega
