    I completely agree with J. On another note the cost of fishing matches and the cost of general living, I have had to reduce from doing 2-3 matches a week down to 1 match a week due to the costs. Gutted about that's how it is and I'd much rather prioritise keeping a roof over my child's head with the heating on and food on the table. Very depressing, but it does make me look forward to fishing more!! 🎣🎣

    I used to fish Lindholme open matches on Tuesday and Thursdays and enjoyed the opportunity to fish a fantastic venue as well as fish against some of the best commercial anglers. I stopped going for the simple reason. It was no longer cost-effective to fish. I could see no reason to spend £60 on bait, pools, and petrol to try and win £100.00. I do agree, though, that the best anglers will always be better regardless of bait limits. However, spending £30 to have a day's fishing and not to frame is easier to accept. I can remember fishing Woodlands in Thirsk when they bait checked anglers and found 50% of anglers had more than the limits allowed. so it's impossible to manage. I therefore agree with Arron. Fishing is competitive but should also be fun. As soon as volume becomes statistically an advantage, you lose the normal match angler. I always found Lindholme better in late autumn to early spring when you fed minimal bait and worked hard to frame. Lindholme is one of the few venues that have a significant level of anglers, which fish every week, and I am sure Arron discussed his ideas with them 1st before implementing any rule changes. He is thinking about the long-term implications. Banning meat caused issues to begin with but was proven to be right

    I have found when it comes to kit, the more you spend, if you spend correctly you only improve your comfort and convenience. My largest chub was on a 15 quid whip. My biggest roach was on a holiday using a telescopic rod. So if you can fish and understand the basics you can catch on almost anything, at any price!

    Jamie you hit the nail on the head you can't please everyone I ran a club for years and someone would always moan and kick off over trivial shite Andy your spot on it ain't about the money you win I just like winning that's a prize in itself and bait bans should only be in effect if its a bait that's effecting the overall health of the fish we all fish different ways and different methods so I don't think you can say someone's only winning due to a specific bait it does depend on the time of year but all baits can be effective when used properly

    The idea of restricting bait is great, however the chance of policing it properly is nigh on impossible. The cost to the fishery alone would totally negate the benefits of the action. Its mainly the higher level matches which I believe attract the anglers who use such large amounts of in this case casters. I think if you can afford to pay the price of the bait so be it. Good Rodcast guys. Cheers

    Fishery owners/bailiffs can do what they like its up to them, weird rules like no loose feeding only potting-in or the five or so rules at Bradshaws to combat naughty word rigs with no float on. Must have float, 12 inch lash, no overshotting, backshot cant sink float, cant hold rig out of the water for too long etc, spring to mind.
    Ive been fishing seriously for 5 years now, northern lad been around fishing all my life, was bag of bad word, sorted life out, fell in love with fishing blah blah life story etc. And not once have i been rig checked, bait checked or anything like that at any of the top fisheries in the north ive been to.
    There should be more policing in general but in particular of pleasure anglers, nowt against them, im first and foremost a pleasure angler, but ive seen some really bad stuff, again at top fisheries in the north, things like throwing big skimmers/bream in the bushes because it was a bit floaty when they put it back in and thought it was dead, using size 8s barbed hooks on lakes where the biggest fish are 7-8 pound carp and the rule is max size 14s barbless, some people know just enough about fishing to be dangerous and they often are dangerous because the rules there for the fishes saftey arent policed.

    Fishing is as expensive as the individual angler wants to make it,you don't need tons of bait to catch fish,I don't really take that much bait myself,I use the Preston eva bait system changed bait tubs inside so I had 6 of the small tubs in it,one with 6mm pellets,one with 4mm pellets,one with micro/2mm pellets,one with 6mm Robin red pellets,sometimes one a pint of maggots and last one maybe some method mix,and ive never ever used more than a third of my bait,miros probably the one I use more of and I still catch plenty of fish,the thing that annoys me is alot of places we fish banned groundbait altogether not even supposed to use it on a method feeder,so mainly pellets,sweetcorn,wafters etc,great vid guys 🎣🎣🎣

      Many years ago(50?), a club I belonged to had a big fish kill on one of their waters. They got a diver to go in and have a look and he found heaps of festering groundbait on the bottom and so groundbait got banned. The diver surfaced with cricket ball sized lumps of the stuff. That water was, back then, one of the rare ones where a few carp had been introduced and so I suspect that somewhere they read that if you needed to"fill it in" to catch!

    It’s a selfish act by the fishery owner because he needs to maximize bums on seats . The same happened with Paul Newell and his bread method … expense is an excuse . If there’s a reduction in turnout , the fishery owner intervenes with bans such as these . Certain methods have their day eventually anyway so just let the method (or amount of bait ) take it’s course .

    To add to the meat ban and weights increasing after banning. Meat is roughly 30% fat, carp have very little dietary need for fats and can't digest it efficiently. Therefore meat fills them up quicker and for longer. Whereas pellets are formulated for the fish to get the maximum nutritional value and digestive efficiency therefore with more pellets going in fish are eating more and more often and as a direct result more fish are caught and weights increase.

    @Crustysmith Год назад

    The mandatory use of fishery pellets has only got one reason behind it. To make the fishery more money. That’s why anglers 'dodge' this rule so much and it is why the fishery will police it. It is to the fishery's advantage to do so.
    Regarding casters, it is only the big boys who will even have a gallon of casters available so this ban only affects those few elite anglers. Initially you would think that as an 'average Joe' this whole debate is about something that simply doesn’t normally affect me. But it is the secondary affect that the fishery is considering, and it is money. Always money. The problem arises when the fish become obsessed with a bait and you MUST throw a gallon of casters at them. Then the average angler is going to stay away because they cannot catch without that amount of bait. Jamie said it, if you don’t like it go elsewhere. Suddenly the fishery becomes affected by falling attendance and explores the introduction of a ban. This is just the big boys spoiling fishing for everyone else.
    A successful fishery can survive by being a mecca for the big boys. Lots of matches, high attendance, loads of tackle and bait sold on site. However if they rely on the 'average Joe' to bring in revenue they simply have to make the place attractive to all anglers, not just the elite. The clue is in the name. A ‘commercial' fishery is primarily a business to make money. Whatever it takes.

    As the name of these venues implies, commercial fishery, it’s likely to be more expensive than fishing the local reservoir, where you’d get by with a bag of ground bait and a pint of maggots. If you want to pay it pay if you don’t or can’t, then don’t. Personal choice should be the rule here, as long as fish are happy!

The cost of bait is crippling for some people myself included so i choose the baits i can afford and get value for money from, but i wil not take a cheap pop at the guys and girls that are sponsored they are where they are because they are the best in the sport plus dont these guys and girls help develop and test the very tackle we all use day in day out, and i am sponsored BY MY WIFE 🤣 We need a united front on all aspects of the sport after is it not THE BEST HOBBY/SPORT on the planet and on the bait front if every body use bait A that doesnt mean someone using bait B isnt going win they have just given Freddie Fish a different meal to eat than Tom Dick and Harry. Fishing is a battle of wits against the fish NOT each other. Not maggots, casters, worms or anything like that, we have to pay just like you do so know how expensive it can get.

    Haha come on Andy , it's easy when you don't pay for tackle and are sponsored by a top brand you can buy your buckets of casters 😂😂

      Silly comment. Andy only got sponsorship by being good. How many years did he spend honing his skills paying subs petrol etc before he became a successful pro angler. I love angling and can fish at a good standard. But these guys like Andy have commitment and focus on another level that I could not commit to. He's got the balls to do it and myself., yourself and millions of others have not.

      Get a grip. Beer cost about the same a pint as casters … many blokes drink and neck at least 4 pints of beer at the weekend week in week out (Let’s not even get into the price of ciggies) so a guy wants to spend the equivalent of someone’s beer intake a week on casters then that’s got to be better for his health … guys can spend what they earn on what they want as far as I’m concerned 👍

    Yeh but they are always bending the rules --- casters allowed they float them even though floating baits arent allowed - 1 foot float to hook they lower the bait in slowly so they can catch at 3 inches. Etc Etc. Its not the bait banning it is the CHEATING mind that is the problem. Even if the fishery said we deliver a set amount of bait to each angler at the outset of the match, people will still cheat.

    Bans bans bans its gettin unreal if you think about it. If it doesnt harm the fish and only anglers pocket then let people spend there cash on how they like.look at the bans now and past its a cycle which happens all the time eg blood worm/joker floating pole feed in pole pot only the lenght of pole no floaters etc etc etc. Fish welfare should be the number on not if somebody is winning ir having a good days fishing. A good days fishing is more important

    I think it boils down to how far we see this sport going. Reducing the price of match angling is a viable step to bringing young anglers in.
    I don’t see why they can’t police bait limits harder. Limiting bait would add yet another layer of skill to this sport… no you can’t lob handfuls of caster all match but you can use 1.5 pints. This now leaves anglers guessing on their caster timing which would be a skill.

  • @robertstibz9506
    @robertstibz9506 Год назад

    Bait should be limits across the range, no more than 6 pints of any loose feed. that will be less costs to the anglers, then its down to who can fish the best.
