    For an old model kit, it turned out extremely well! And for the price it is really worth it.
    It’s only week spot, detail wise, is the rear engine deck. But once painted and weathered, it looks the part.

    I was never a great modeler. I mainly used to just glue the kits together and not bother with painting or detailing. That said, I had this kit when it originally came out. I seem to recall there not being any kind of console in the cockpit, and I glued a small piece of scrap plastic in it to sort of represent a console. I also remember it not even coming with any blue parts for the engine, so I took a piece of blue paper and used it in place of the white paper that they told you to use.
    I used to have most of the first wave of kits. I think the only one I have left is R2D2 and hes in need of some repairs. It always pissed me off that the only thing holding his legs on were plastic pegs maybe 1-2mm thick. Naturally they would eventually break on the third or four time he toppled over. They really should have included a metal rod, an maybe soft plastic collars for the joints, to provide strength and keep it from tipping over so easily. The only viable way to display it was in 3-leg mode.
    I might have my C3PO model packed away somewhere.

    I love your video on this build! I’m currently working on this exact exact same model. It has a lot of flash on the parts lol
    I’m going to start working on my lights tomorrow. Can you tell me what kind of LED strip you’re using? Does it already have the wires soldered to the strip? I don’t know whole lot about lighting as I’m just getting into model building myself. I’m not sure what I need to look for on Amazon for the LED light strip.

    • @EagleSciFiModeler
      @EagleSciFiModeler  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you. I use a bright white LED strip for the engine lights. Don't get indoor/outdoor kind they have a protective rubber coating on them and they are harder to work with. They usually have wires at one end but you'll need to segment to make it fit. They can be cut and are usually marked where to cut them. I would recommend watching some videos on how to light your models. I may make one soon

    JFC! That flash! I had the 1978 kit, and it did NOT have that level of flash. Also, that curved piece was for installing the original incandescent rice bulbs for the engine. Yeah, that's all we had at the time. No such thing as LED's. It's funny that they still included the battery box. That clunky thing holds two C batteries!

      @@EagleSciFiModeler This is Round 2/PL we're talking about!
      They work with what they're provided and make minimal changes. They didn't totally redo the original mold but I'm sure even these modifications weren't cheap!
      Still, it is surprising they kept that "obsolete plastic" in there. It can probably be repurposed anyway.

    I think it's a reasonably-detailed model AND a good size at a much better price than the Japanese releases.
    Honestly, when the thing's painted up and unless you're anal retentive---!
    (Heh. I know I chuckled when I wrote that last part. We have rivet counters in the audience! I'm picky, too, but there's a point when I shut off the nuttiness at 85% and just live with the end result! This a Millennium Falcon kit I wouldn't mind displaying if I'd produced it.)
    I don't know what people are expecting from nearly 50-year-old tooling.
    There are few fewer problems with this than there are with the AMT/ERTL classic 18" Enterprise. The Revell Enterprise should have obliterated the original AMT Enterprise but for some reason the Revell people got REALLY stupid and produced the most inaccurate Enterprise kit in recent history!
    This Han Solo Millennium Falcon is still a better release than anything that's come directly from Disney in a LONG time!
