"Half-Life Shortcut Thru Opposing Force" is a mod that connects sections of Black Mesa as seen in Opposing Force with the sections seen in Half-Life. It allows you to play as Gordon Freeman and gives you the option to enter back into the Black Mesa Transit System and play through the following Opposing Force chapters: We Are Pulling Out, Missing in Action, Friendly Fire, and We Are Not Alone. Once Gordon enters the Lambda Complex portal, the game resumes Half-Life from the chapter Xen, effectively creating a shortcut. The mod is not designed to be a very challenging game, but rather a fun and novel playthrough. This mod runs on your existing Half-Life 1 install so will not encounter any Opposing Force monsters or weapons. For this reason however, many unique surprises await.

It would actually be cool to have an interconnected Black Mesa mod that has all the paths from the main 3 games able to go in any order you want. It would start from Barney's perspective, but the tram would allow you to get off at both stops. The mod would allow both armor pickups and armor recharge. It would add things to allow the player to backtrack into sections they previously weren't allowed to backtrack into. It would have hidden connections between the available zen chapters (with blue shift's allowing a way out). After all that, it could even probably incorporate custom levels that open doors that were previously closed.
This could be cool! Like, a scavenger mod where you play as a scientist? You could have taken an HEV suit and mixed it in with a soldier's suit, or a soldier's suit with a guard's Kevlar and other parts of the HEV suit. It would be a bit weaker due to the scavenged nature, but allow pickup from every item so far possible.

This is such a wacky but creative thing to make a mod out of. The Half-Life community never ceases to surprise. Hope Mitch on All Things Lambda covers this.

Personally, I'd:
* Remove the scientist kidnap scene and have them just let you through
* Replace the grunt that dies during the vort lift fight with a guard
* Have the scientist at the end of WAPO not say "they gon save our asses"
* Remove the Osprey (and grunts) from the end of WAPO
* Provide earlier shotgun access
* Show that the Gonome nest isn't fully developed
* Remove the vent grunt cache in MIA
* Remove the grunt truck after that
* Remove the Pit Drones altogether instead of replacing them with vorts
* Have the elevator where the rope is not be broken, so you can use it for progression
* Remove the Bullsquid grunt in MIA
* Have the hole scientist in MIA talk about "they gon save our asses" instead of "they gon kill our asses"
* Delay the MIA door grunts' shooting by about a second so they don't automatically snipe your ass
* Remove FF radio call that mentions BlOps, maybe replace it with custom line
* Have the FF scientist that replaces the medic hide behind something
* Give unique animation to scientist reviving the hurt guard
* Replace OpFor grunts with HL grunts instead of guards in FF
* Not have Female Assassins paired with grunts
* Have an Alien Grunt corpse next to Hivehand
* Move Nihilanth's "...comes another..." line to OpFor Xen, use PS2 Exclusive line in place
* Remove falling OpFir Xen scientist, have Tau Cannon be next to dead HEV guy

Very interesting mod and very smooth implementation of it into the game. I like how it just takes you to the regular Xen chapter at the end. Very well made.
i would really love to have a map crossover'ish between Half-Life, Blue Shift, Decay and Opposing Force
definitely a fun thing to play and have in a game server as a exploration purpose!

The military arrives much too soon in this mod. That and when they are introduced normally, you see a soldier kill a scientist, several traps etc. In this it feels like Gordon is shooting first
Also, H.E.C.U marines don't work together with Black Ops assassins.
@@adrianostrowski6431 in Apprehension after you fight Black Ops Assassins, you get knocked out by HECU guys, not Black Ops ones, so I think it can logically explained that they was not hostile and even cooperated, and only after HECU was officially pulled out, they got orders to kill ones who wasn't able to evacuate as unneeded witnesses.
And I agree that some indication what HECU is hostile before we encounter them like in original HL, traps, we see how HECU kills scientist, etc might be good addition as MadGameBoy mentioned, but still is good port of maps from OpFor to HL.
I recall when was playing HL first time I was able to survive jump from that failing catwalk, just to find what you will stuck at dead end there, it is funny what someone actually mod which allows to continue game from there.

This is exactly my pet peeve about OpFor. While in Half-Life you work for a long time to go deeper and deeper in what is obviously an even more secret part of the facility (Lambda Core), in OpFor you just happen to stumble upon the very secret teleporter after crawling trough some vents near a conference room and the surface.
Lambda Core is clearly not far from The test chamber,but black Mesa is such a maze.
The... military 'clean up' is just a rumour, isnt it?

Imagine a sven co op mod that allows you to see the incident from different angles.
Oh great, Otises have not stuffed their faces with candy in between gordon escaping Sector C and Shepherd dropping into it.

i also tried and did a similar thing only for my self use
in opposing force where you get to the lambda core where you see gordon jump to xen normally if you follow him you will teleport behind him in half life first xen map and you fall to death and this map of3a1b is actully that gearbox did a copy clone of valve's c4a1 the first xen map its almost the same with minor differences you will see only if you use noclip like xen turrets in section down not working and also the cave where you go to teleport to next map of gonarch lair isnt there
so i got idea to make 'a change that if you follow gordon in 'were not alone' you can do a paradox of time you will go to valve's c4a1 that is the same map and land where you did as gordon in half life 1
i added gordon as extra standing behind shephard so he can be killed and if you go down to the cave you can go to the next map of gonarch lair and do whole xen!
doing xen of half life 1 as shephard killed gordon and shephard tooked gordons place and its connected from opposing force new game start to whole game only if you choose to follow gordon in the map you see him jump to xen in 'were not alone' chapter
the other idea i got to add is that after you defeat nihilanth and only if you accept gman's offer you will than be taken to the small space map you get to from the other portal you was meant to take in we're not alone chapter of opposing force to go to crush depth chapter and do the rest of opposing force that is left after you killed gordon and nihilanth and accepted gman offer
so you will still do the rest that left of opposing force after killing gordon and doing xen instead of him so its consistent you also will still do the rest that left of opposing force to kill the geneworm and than the ending with gman
how's my idea? really cool?
and whats better? teleport to the small space map of we're not alone that you go to crush depth chapter to do rest of opposing force after only if you accepted gman offer?
or to change it to that after the nihilanth dies you will instead right away go to opposing force space map before crush depth chapter?

And Freeman could not launch the Alpha satelite in order to weaken the ressonance cascade effects
I like how it changes some areas! just needs to have the grunt getting ganged up on at the elevator a security guard
and remove bits of the xen growth to make it seem newer

@@lymphoid mechanic guy but Shephard drained the radiation. Either way, it would have been impossible for mechanic guy to drain the radiation since he is surrounded by radioactive materials. Thus, he dies due to falling to his death.

The problem is that that section of the tram is filled with toxic waste unless Shepherd empties it with the pump thats blocked by the robo-hauler.

Now someone needs to add hl1 maps as an alt path for opposing force players who are really good at grenade boosting

I used a tool called BSPEdit which allows you to change/edit/delete entities.

Can I get a quick explanation of how to install this? Trying to install it like a typical Half-Life mod, extracting and copying to Steam/steamapps/common/Half-Life, isn't getting it to appear on Steam
No problem. It won't appear as a separate mod. Just load up Half-life and you'll be able to access the shortcut like in the video. It won't affect normal gameplay.

It's a shame the expansions didn't expand the original games itself like this. Black Mesa has the potential to be a giant maze, but it's depicted as completely linear.
Author, add to OpFor the transition from the transport system to sector C so that we can see through Shchepard’s eyes what happened to the Anomalous materials and, most importantly, test chamber c33/a, on the second day after the cascade resonance. It will be very cool
Now we need Barney to do Gordon's part and Shepard well do Barney's part

It’s a cool idea and some really nice work, but too many plot holes (even for HL!) The leaky radiation tank got fixed very quickly, and why were the grunts set up in the area before the helicopter if it was being run by the scientists? And how was the Xen portal ready?
Not to be a dick or anything. It’s a really good job. Just saying there’s some inconsistencies

It would be cool to play this mod in sven co-op.. it somehow works in sven co-op but it's using half life game maps not the co-op ones so it changes to a different level randomlly that makes no sense.. it would be cool.. if you could resize the maps for co-op.. that would be cool.. and I would download it.. bc people might like it tho.. for a different route bc people have been playing the same half life 1 campaign.. it would be sick to have different route to xen.. sven co-op has op4 support so the op4 stuff work in sven co-op.. you have to make the spawns for sven co-op and other stuff that would fit co-op.. and make it like your gorden freeman...

i got very cool idea for a blue shift thru half life crossover if you interested
Thru the main BS entrance?
i think of edit c0a0
so the func_train you ride will stop instead in bs entrance and remove that barney that knocks on the door
once you near this door change level trigger so it go from c0a0 to the blue shift map so the door is opend
you do from here play whole blue shift
and in the ending map with rosenberg with the teleports
once you teleport to room you see the human grunts captured gordon
remove these human grunts and make the level to change to c2a3e map where in half life gordon is captured
than you do all rest of half life 1 from c2a3d to finish half life@@lymphoid
and rosenberg can be changed instead to normal scientist but will require in all maps to change scripted sentences
or to use half life unified so instead so it wont be needed but still it wont make sense rosenberg not refer the player as gordon

and program bspguy does not let to flip the brush entity there isnt option to
so this meaning if using c0a0 map it would require to decompile the map to edit flip the func_tracktrain door to the other direction of blue shift entrance
can be a mess but its not huge map so maybe the decompile wont need much work and fixes to be recompiled into bsp
you could instead use ba_tram3 map and edit he map so the player will spawn with the func_tracktrain in the same place it did as in c0a0

with edit the blue shift maps on monster_rosenberg to use the normal scientist voice that does all if not most same lines rosenberg say with the normal scientist voice
that included with the game for some resson
the blue shift 2 armors can be changed to normal battery
and maybe make the hev chargers of blue shift maps working but with balance as they werent meant to be used
npcs change the scripted sentences of blue shift to other half life ones and make rosenberg to be walter with normal scientist voice
once in final map of the game when you teleport to see gordon captured at the end of apprehension chapter
instead to see him grabed
remove the 2 human grunts and monster_generic gordon and make the map do auto teleport to the player in this room to go to c2a3d map but right away to the room when
the grunts turn off the lights to capture gordon so as the map start in c2a3d with that just as it starts the scripted sequence of the room turn lights off and being captured plays
and from here you do rest of half life 1 till its ending
quite alot of effort but it can be worth it
