By all accounts this was the last serial made by Republic. Still for us baby boomers the republic serials were a staple of kids television up to the mid 60s, especially down here in Aussie. Along with re runs of Jungle Jim films, Fury, Rescue 8, Tales of the Texas Rangers, (Jayce Pearson was his name) Cisco Kid, The Lone Ranger, Rin Tin Tin and a crap load of Japanese Anime Cartoons, ie Astro Boy, Prince Planet et al Hanna Barbara fare like Johnny Quest and the Herculoids et al.
Brings back memories of a simpler time. No computer games, internet, and if you climbed a tree and fell out and hurt yourself you just climbed again and no one go sued.

To the person who asked about the vine-swinging scenes: these are stock footage from the earlier serial JUNGLE GIRL (1941); Phyllis Coates wears the buckskin minidress Frances Gifford wore in the earlier film so the footage would match. And no, it wasn't Gifford swinging in that footage either - they had Republic stuntman Dave Sharpe shave his legs and don Gifford's skirt for the vine-swinging scenes. Republic's later serials are larded with stock footage, in some cases taken from their feature films.

That tiny crayfish looks even funnier with a tinier camera. In reality he wouldn't even make a decent appetizer.

Phyllis Coates was a hot-looking babe, wasn't she. I believe she was an excellent actress as well and maybe the greatest scream queeens in TV history.

Phyllis Coates left The Adventures of Superman for this joke of a serial.

Well, this was four years after she was in SUPERMAN, but, yes, she must have wondered if leaving the show had been a good idea(I think there was actually a scheduling conflict).

Steve Roberts, even George Reeves never thought that anyone would see the series after filming had finished in 1951

    • @Outlier999

@@jayrosen6663 Allegedly, Reeves was having an affair with the producer’s wife. She was a jealous woman and thought Reeves was interested in Coates. So she tricked Coates into leaving Superman for a “more adult” show that only lasted one season. She replaced her with Noelle Neill, the original Lois Lane from the serials.
