  • A brief history - Bellevue Palace, located on the banks of the Spree River, was built in 1786 by the architect Michael Philip Bowman as the summer residence of Prince Augustus Ferdinand, the younger brother of the Prussian King Frederick II. Guests of Bellevue at one time were Friedrich Schiller, the royal couple Friedrich Wilhelm and Louise, Wilhelm von Humboldt and Napoleon.
The interior decoration of 1791, after the destruction during the Second World War, was restored according to the preserved original sketches. Since 1959, the palace has been the location of the institution of ministers of the federal states of Germany.
