    During his touring years, Rachmaninoff’s preoccupation with concertizing prevented much attention to composition. It is in this period that we find most of Rachmaninoff’s witty paraphrases of other composers’ works, which serve well in showcasing dexterous fingerwork to audiences eager for his virtuosity. Here, Rachmaninoff decorates Bach’s intricate melodic line with the mightiest power the piano has to offer.
