They should have gone four rounds so they each had a chance to go last equally. Juice's third verse was sick when he went directly after Supernat and had stuff to work with. Both amazing freestyle emcees though. I remember this circulating on rap boards back in the very early 2000s. Great to revisit, it still sounds as dope today.

That's VERY debatable. I use to be 100% in on Nat being the best freestyler on the planet but hearing Juice lately, it's almost a toss up with the slight edge possibly going to Juice. Now... in this battle Juice straight up lost... not only in the lyrics but the delivery. He loses his voice or sounds like he's straining in these battles. When he's mellow on the WakeUp Club or whatever, dude sounds smooth as heLL and totally effortless.

The vote was made poorly. Juice had better lines, better off the top. Supernat was dope, and put on a better show. However at the end of the day, the winner "Supernat" even claimed Juice had to have been reciting writtens, because in super nats mind, there was no way someone could come off the top that ill. Says a lot for who the better MC is.

Yup. Supernat is a dope freestylist.. But I wouldnt consider battling his strong suite, whereas it's what juice does. Supernat is better at freestyling to crowds, reacting off of props or words, and flowing for a long time.

I was in rap battles from mids 90s to early 2000s. Best time for hiphop. This was a Legendary battle but Super Nat took every round. Blew juice out in round 1, called him out hilariously on the sucking the judges off 2 times line, called him out in real time for trying to be his hypeman 😂 They had to stop him from going over the time limit every round. Juice had a sick final round but stopped himself short of time which didnt look good and just fizzled out. The spot on Biggie impression was just icing on the cake. It seemed like they could tell juice was losing So they switch him to go last and threw supernat a wack beat... so i wont take points off for him asking to switch beats.. 5gz on the line here

I thought the same thing, til I heard somebody (maybe Sway?) talking about it a few years back. He said there was a bunch of guys from Chicago and they were yelling Juuuuuuuice but it sounds like boos on the audio. You can hear it after his first verse too.

@@justinlacek1481 nah the crowd was not bias, at least not blatantly, I mean I was there and me and my people’s weren’t bias at all, but supernat lives in LA and juice lives in Chicago and the battle was in LA so there were people who were unfamiliar with juice but they weren’t against him. Either way tho, the battle had judges, the crowd didn’t determine the winner Breal, chino xl, xzibit, and like 6 other people did

I remember listening to this as a kid on the wake up show. I believed Supernatural had an advantage with the crowd, because he performed his freestyle talents for like a 10 minute act. Then right after sway and tech brought out Juice for him to battle.

Supernat's delivery, and style was so much iller than than Juice's. Juice had a few good lines but he kept saying J your ice is fresher every few seconds. Juice's delivery was just so timid and weak in comparison to Nat.
It was never questionable to me that Supernat won this battle. His freestyles actually sound like freestyles, not pre-written, Juice has to try to make a lot of low blows and "dirty" jokes, and during the break as Supernatural points out, Juice seems to be manipulating the crowd and judges with more than just rhymes. I'd take my time and say I won't rhyme, too, if they switched the rounds on me so that my opponent got to start AND end the show.
These were two guys knew each other and it's kinda obvious which one is doing his job correctly and which one is trying to cheat.
I will say that "bad game of Tetris" line was dope, though. That's basically Juice admitting he won more socially than on skills.

I don't think it's questionable that Juice was recycling at least a few premade lines. I heard him use that "Blew up in the air and died like the shuttle" line on his HOT 97 freestyle.
