Thanks for posting this video on Utah Tenkara Guide. Because of this video, my wife and I booked a trip to the middle Provo for Tenkara fishing. We already had Tenkara rods and had fished a couple of times with some limited success but were looking for some good areas to fish closer to home. Nathan set us up with one of his guides, Jarren Brinton, and we had a wonderful time! Jarren was very helpful and gave us very useful information about fishing in general as well as tips for more successful Tenkara fishing. Thanks to Utah Fishing Channel and Utah Tenkara Guide service for a wonderful day of fishing!
Great video! Just started tenkara in American Fork canyon. Water is really high but have caught some browns the first few times out. Can’t wait to try those Killer Utah Bugs. Any update on where to find those? Great advice on fish I front of the rock. I’ve been doing the opposite based on other videos but both fish I caught today were in front.
Nathan for those dries you mentioned, are you using furled lines? And do you use level lines and on your longer rods say 11 to 13ft do you cut leaders to those lengths, thanks for video
You should. This guide was one of the best teachers I've ever met when it comes to fishing. This particular guide service has online Tenkara lesson for like $50. Might be worth looking into that!
Hi Miguel, thanks for watching. There is a link to their website in the description of this video, OR you can call or text Nathan at (801) 309-4961. Mention you saw the video on the Utah Fishing Channel.
If you fish small streams, I really like the Maruki Sharpshooter: www.wasatchtenkararods.com/collections/tenkara-rods/products/maruki-sharpshooter?ref=utahfishing15 If you're fishing bigger rivers and lakes, the Hankyu Middle Fork is great too: www.wasatchtenkararods.com/collections/tenkara-rods/products/hankyu-middle-fork?ref=utahfishing15 If Nathan sees this comment, he might have some input too. The flex is like the difference in casting between a fiberglass vs. carbon fiber fly rod, although not as pronounced. Typically the stiffer rod, 7:3 in this case, will also help you control a bigger fish better. The shorter rod is called the Sharpshooter, and you can check out both actions at Angler's Den in Roy!
Morgan Fishing Co carries a bunch whenever I've been in there. Thinking of getting one myself after being way over gunned with a 4 wt last couple trips. Super helpful guys.

That's awesome to hear! So glad you had a great experience. Nathan was great to work with.
Thank you so much for this comment, we really enjoyed taking you out and showing you and your wife the ropes. Jarren said it was awesome!
I was Tenkara fishing 50 years ago with a Cane pole
Hey Nathan, What is the pack you have on as well as the hydration

We'd love to have you! Call me on the number on the site and we can set something up!
I’m curious if I heard Nathan correctly. Did he say Cooling weather or cold weather is prime time for Tenkara fishing.
Yes! He did.
I really enjoyed your video. I'd be very interested in buying your shorter rod. How do I go about doing that?

Where can I buy a Tenkara style Kebari Utah Killer Bug?
I think you can get them at Anglers Den in Layton? Probably online too.
Nick Feller ties them, and I do also
@@SmartcastMTG can I buy some from you!?
@@JGTenkara yeah man
Glad to hear you found them, I haven't looked at this video in a while and just saw all of the comments!
Two questions. What’s the deciding factor between going with the 6:4 or 7:3?
Is the 6’ short rod available in any local shops?
