  • What a great, simple and effective pedal for so little money. If you play high gain music and need to make sure your pauses are just that... pauses, not noise filled gaps, then get this thing, crank up the Threshold and off you go !!!
    You can get it on Amazon, please use link!

    Thank you for making the demo. It would have been helpful in judging the worth of the pedal if you spent more time on single note threshold/decay characteristics of the pedal. Regards.

    Are there any noise gates that do a quick "roll off" of the volume rather than a hard shut-off?
    Wouldn't it have been an easier demo with a single-coil guitar that doesn't have noiseless pickups, with your hands off the guitar so you don't ground it? That's an instant sales demo for noise gates (or the Electro Harmonix Hum Debugger, however that unit won't help you with hiss since it's not a gate, but a hum eliminator).
    LOL at the switching of camera focus to the dog!

      roschler I hear the Boss NS2 is fairly good at that. I hear positive things about the ISP Decimator but have heard it's just a full shut off whereas the Boss rolls it out.

  • @PieIX
    @PieIX 10 лет назад

    Dear EytschPi42
    I did get the Joyo Noise Gate. Perhaps I have misunderstood the purpose of one.
    Yes the noise from pedals has been substantially reduced when notes are not being played.So foolish of me to think that a Noise Gate would filter out that unwanted noise when notes are being played!!
    I use it set at the 12 o'clock position and it is fine for me. Turned up all the way cuts the sound completely.
    Thank you for your demos. I now have 4 Joyo pedals on my board and to this point in time very satisfied with all.

    • @EytschPi42
      @EytschPi42  10 лет назад

      Cool.... yes, you misunderstood the purpose.... it is not a noise reduction, but a GATE, so it cuts the sound completely!

    • @PieIX
      @PieIX 10 лет назад

      EytschPi42 Yes. Of course when the note played is allowed to escape so does the noise escape.

    @LittleJack2105 9 лет назад +1

    Is this working if you put a delay after this pedal, I mean, is the "noise" of the amp and guitar deleted but the effect of the delay still works?

    • @EytschPi42
      @EytschPi42  9 лет назад

      Yes, that works.

    • @themandroids9071
      @themandroids9071 5 лет назад

      Rather get something like a boss NS-2 or similar noise suppressor that has an effects loop. The noise gate then only affects your high gain section and leaves your delay/reverb etc. effects to do their thing (this being if you put these and/or other modulation effects in the side chain). Otherwise, if you put a noise gate in front of your effects, things like delay will be affected by the noise gate.

      Joyo Analog Chorus, Boss DD-3 (delay),Hardwire Reverb and BBE Sonic Stomp.
      You have suggested that the NG get placed in the effects loop.S o I trust,based on your explanation that this placement would be quite essential. Where in my effects loop pedal order do you suggest I place the NG ?

    Hello EytschPi42, I love your videos man. About the Joyo JF-31 noise gate...
    I do not play Metal, I mostly play Classic Rock and Blues. I play a lot of lead guitar.
    I play a lot of Pink Floyd, David Gilmour is my guitar God.
    My guitars are single coils, I just want to get rid of the buzz, hum or static noise.
    Maybe also cut a little bit of noise when I use several pedals with high gain distortion. From what I saw in your video, I would go for a 50% or less on the threshold. Also I am on low/medium budget. Nice price tag on the JF-31.
    Will the JF-31 do the job ? From what I saw and heard. I think it will, yes ?
    You do a excellent job with your gear reviews videos.

      ***** Have you studied the physics of music? The different frequencies of given notes and their relationship mathematically to other notes? The typical Major scale is based upon frequency differences that lead to patterns of relationships. It's like the golden ratio. We see the beauty in the flower, DaVinci saw the beauty in the construction. A surgeon can appreciate the workings of the heart and yet still experience love. There is no need to exclude one to sanctify the other. If you haven't yet, which you may have, I don't know, go check out the uses of counterpoint or symphonic styles. Music has it's own slice of the physical as well as the spiritual, and it is only through the physical that we are able to discern the spiritual.
