Floyd has always been Animal's "handler", going back to The Muppet Show days. He literally keeps him on a chain leash! But learning this is how they met brings a whole new emotional layer to their friendship. Loved it.
Baby Animal's laugh is what makes this scene. It's as if he realizes that he's finally getting his forever home because it's clear that Floyd will never abandon him like everyone else has.
My favorite part of this scene is how the the note on Baby Animal's cage says "KEEP" which implies the person who left Animal really, REALLY didn't want him. 😅 But when Floyd took animal in, he took that note as a promise. We see Floyd look at the same note while Animal is sleeping, representing how Animal is family and Floyd will continue to *keep* Animal in his heart forever.
@@justincredible8667 Mickey Mouse is just a drawn line. Actors are just people reciting a script. Superheroes are just people hanging from wires with special effects. You know 75% of media is fiction, right? But if something makes you feel, then it's real.
This actually makes sense since I've been rewatching my Muppet Show DVDs. Animal seems the most calm around Floyd. Literally, Floyd in the show tells him, "Down, boy, easy now." And Animal just immediately simmers down. Edit: Who'd have thought a backstory of a wild, red puffball and a chill bassist would make me cry from such a sweet relationship.😢
Man, I had no idea about this piece of lore. This is really heartwarming... Heck, you can even feel the "tired but happy parent" vibes in Floyd's eyes!
I was very impressed with Muppets Mayhem from the 1st episode. I recall "Can you Picture That?" from 30+ years ago in the Muppets Movie (original) and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" felt really authentic and smart, and surprisingly well-written for a Disney production in 2023.
That's because head puppeteer Bill Barretta (Dr. Teeth) was the executive producer, while the other two big cheeses (Adam F. Goldberg and Jeff Yorkes) are big Muppet fans. Plus they had excellent writers as well. The credit belongs to all of them.
Yeah you know that Disney is doing something right when they have people actually feeling emotional about a scene that we all been wanting to see for a minute cause honestly I am very impressed
Yeah. When they're not tied down by managerial incompetence or trying to out- woke every other entertainment company, they can still bring in some real poignancy at times.
Adamguy2003 Imagine unironically calling Disney "wOkE" as a vague insult, when they give the most halfhearted attempt at including that content that people who use that word complain about And this isn't even to Disney's credit anyway, because the quality of this show is due to Bill Barretta (an actual Muppet performer) being put in charge alongside a good staff and writing team
This is really heartwarming, but it really sad that his real parents abandoned him as a baby like they don't want him anymore. But this nice, cool, Rockstar adopted him. I assumed other people treats him like he's a wild animal, but Floyd raised him as he is own son
I like to assume that this was a slightly older version of baby animal and it was Nanny from Muppet Babies who dropped him off. She couldn't take him anymore.
@@welcometothemetaverse2523I doubt it, from the note simply saying "KEEP." Nanny is more articulate than that, She likely would have written a proper letter. I get the feeling Animal's birth parents were almost as savage as him, hence the one- word note.
I personally think Baby Animal from this flashback sequence is pretty young compared to the ones from both Muppet Babies series. The one from the 2018 Muppet Babies is the oldest, because he and his friends were preschool aged children in that series.
I won't front, I actually teared up at this flashback scene. After watching a few episodes of "The Muppets: Mayhem," I can strongly say that this is the BEST series from Disney in a long time, their past attempts were lacking to say the least. I think they found the right people to work on the series.
This is just a beautiful scene. I love how the show brings a whole new layer of humanity to the electric mayhem. All the characters that get prominent spotlights. Dr teeth, Janice , animal, floyd are giving this new layer of humanity to them make them flushed out and relatable, while zoot and lips remaining mostly as comic relief even if they don’t really need a backstory, it would be cool to see if we ever get a second season
Ever since watching this heartwrenching scene from Muppets Mayhem, I have felt it necessary to scream it from the rooftops that Animal is basically Floyd’s child. Floyd’s not his handler, but his father figure. There’s a whole bunch of interview videos that just bring out that dynamic…the more I watch the more the pieces fit together.
Getting out of the cage and the cold was what this poor baby needed. That's why I respect Animal and Floyd. Floyd knows when Animal is gonna reach his limit, but he never ever placed him back in the cage.
It's interesting that from this we can take away that Floyd is perhaps the closest thing Animal had to a father growing up. It completely explains why Animal respects his commands when Floyd tells him to settle down. The note however really makes me sad. In one word so many potential stories unfold. The one that I think it means is that whoever wrote it not only has Animal's level of simplicity, but also that they themselves realised that Animal deserved more than they could provide and that they probably knew that Floyd was a good person and could be trusted with the life of their child.
This show was actually so good and underrated. The only complaint I have was the music like maybe 2 songs where good. By comparison to there old music. Tbh.
this scene made me cry. now it all makes sense. why floyd seem to be the only one to calm him down. i want another season & more backstory for Zoot or Janice finds her sister, etc.
I also would like a backstory for Lips. I always wondered how and why the band hired a sixth member. Maybe an in-universe explanation on why he mumbles. I'd like to imagine that his family mumbles too and that was just how he learned to talk.
Wish there's a future Muppet film Featuring the Return of Kermit's Old Nemesis Doc Hopper, Doc Hopper will Plan His Revenge on the Muppets by Taking over the Muppet Theatre! Dun Dun Dun!
(Muppet babies) Flyod:. Sup kid ready? Baby animal: yay! Flyod back… *sniffs* you smell like smoking *sniffs* and drinking Flyod: I had a few beers but I’m good to drive
The first thought of most when they see a baby on their doorstep is how to care for them. Floyd’s first thought was “frick it, let’s rock.”

Also adds an extra layer to that scene in 2011 where he gets Animal to drum again, it’s a dad encouraging his son to follow his dreams again
I used to think Floyd and Janice were Animal’s parents when I was little.
