This saved my Ergo MX. I was unhappy with my track ball being draggy and somewhere bumpy... it was not a pleasure anymore... I followed your video and I was so surprised the difference it made... I completely forgot the experience this mouse give us... it is working smoothly now... amazing
I have owned this for 3 years and never knew the ball could be taken out to cleaned. The trackball stopped working today with 3 years worth of gunk stuck in. Followed your video and now I have my MX Ergo working again beautifully
Thank you so much for posting this! I didn't know that one can just pop the ball out. I've been taking mine apart by unscrewing the screws that hold the two halves together. Wow. You've now had a big impact on my life! Thank you.
This video was a life saver thank you! My mouse stopped working in the middle of a project, and it turned out to be a piece of lint falling in front of the sensor. I had excellent results using the eraser end of a pencil to pop the track ball out without scuffing or damaging it.
I made a new video and because I couldn't get myself to start recording, I kept delaying cleaning it, so there was a lot of lint in the end ruclips.net/video/2TBSo3LfPDk/видео.html was it as bad for your trackball mouse?
Thank you so very much for this video. I got a 570 a couple of years ago, about a year ago the ball stopped working, so I bought a M575, (but did not toss the old one). Now, a couple of days ago the M575, the ball stopped working, watched your video, used the eraser on a pencil to push the ball out & inside was filled with lint, removed the lint & now it works like new. Then I got the 570 out, removed the ball & it too was filled with lint & am glad I didn't toss it. Thanks again.
Thanks for making this video. I loved the MX Ergo trackball when I first got it two years ago and was about to chuck into the recycle bin because of how sluggish and unresponsive the pointer got to be. I even looked at ways of using the apple trackpad on Windows 10. Then I saw your well made video and in a few seconds cleaned it using your advice, being careful not to scratch it. It now works like new! You are the best.
OK, I rarely comment in RUclips... thank you! I used a chopstick to pop mine out (ERGO M575). Use a soft cloth and a little windex. Man, was it dirty in there. I was ready to toss it out or order a new one. As previous users commented, feels like new! I was getting super frustrated with the mouse jumping around, not going where I wanted it to, and being SUPER slow and draggy to move across the screen. Glad you posted this!
The cotton swab is good, but then I use a lint-free cloth to clean the inside of the trackball socket. I also use the lint-free cloth to clean the ball that tends to pick up oils from your thumb. This is how I used to clean the Logitech Trackman Marble Trackball that I have used for many years. Thank you for this video as I had not seen the hole on the under side of the mxergo to push out the trackball.
Thank you so much for making this video! I couldn't get the screws out if the bottom and didn't think the ball should just be able to pop out of it! You're a lifesaver!
Amazing video! thank you so much. I had gotten so frustrated with my trackball's sluggish response. Was totally ready to pass it on to a new home. Watching your video I was back to turbo speed after a few seconds of cleaning. I can't believe the difference! Thank you so much!
Thank you for this. I own two ERGO M575 and both had gotten so bad I had to go back to an optical mouse. I popped the ball out using the dimpled and rounded end of a sharpie marker and used cotton swabs on the 3 ball sensors, wiped the ball and inside cavity with a dry micro fiber cloth and popped it back together. Two minutes and they are as fast and precise as band new.
this is my first trackball mouse and i recently almost bashed it straight through my desk. i'm surprised (and slightly grossed out) and how much "debris" can build up in that track ball cavity. this video completely changed my life :)
Thanks for the video. The trackball was beginning to skip when scrolling around. Couldn't figure out how to remove the ball to get it cleaned. Definitely helped.
Thanks! q tip advice saved mouse. I recommend also dislodging and cleaning the track ball sitting on bed or over the mattress if you have two left hands because it is slippery if you use alcohol wipes and it will likely pounce off and around. My mouse still performed adequately two years without cleaning that it slipped my mind but I am noticing the faster, smoother slide now that it is back. I will definitely be cleaning it regularly from now on
Oh my gosh thank you I have had this for 6 months and didn’t know to clean it. It started skipping. Pretty sozeable dust bunnies gathered. Works SO MUCH better now!
Thank you! I just removed a clump of dust from mine and the difference is amazing. I was able to fit my pinky in the hole at the bottom of my M575 to pop the ball out.
Thank you! I had not cleaned mine since I bought it 2 years ago (I know) because I wasn't sure how to do it without damaging it. Today it finally became unusable and after watching this and cleaning it, it's as good as it was the day I thought it!
Thank you so much for this guide, I have been slowly driving myself mad trying to clean the ball. Lo and behold using a pencil and the ball comes out and I can see why it was not working so well. So much dirt. My mouse is like new! Thank you
Thank you very much. My Ergo MX is now as new! P.S. My previous Logi Track Ball connections were cleaned using Isopropyl alcohol after disassembling the device. I did not know that the track ball could come out without disassembling the unit. Many thanks.
Thank you, I loved this mouse but it was starting to get sticky. I was able to pull the ball out, but didn't know what to do next so thank you for this guide...it's so smooth again.
Great job! I completely overlooked the hole on the bottom. I have had other trackballs and the balls was much easier to get out. Once I saw how easy it was to get out by pushing out, it solved my problem. I sued the rubber end of a tablet pen and it easily popped out.
A chopstick works perfectly. Then I just cleaned it with a eyeglass cleaning microfiber cloth. Thanks for this video. I didn't realize that all you had to do was to pop out the ball to clean it.
If you have a pencil with eraser on the other side you can easily use that to push out the trackball without damaging it. Been doing for a while now and not a single scratch anywhere.
Man, seems like everybody but me owns pencils with erasers these days. Still couldn't find one for the new vid ruclips.net/video/2TBSo3LfPDk/видео.html
I bought an iFixit kit with this mouse because I assume I'd need to take it apart to clean it properly. Very glad the back of a Bic could just pop the track ball out. (I don't regret buying the iFixit kit, everyone should have one.)
I love the trackball and after a year or so it was awful.... Had no idea the ball popped out - cleaned all the gunk out with alcohol wipes. Now it's as good as new so thanks!!
Any ideas on how to clean the trackwheel? It doesn't appear that it is engineered for cleaning like the ball. Currently, my trackwheel will not scroll down.
any ideas on how to clean the part where your palm goes? i don't want to damage the soft material, but it also seems to collect my sweat. makes my hand smell funny after a while
I actually tested it with alcohol in ruclips.net/video/2TBSo3LfPDk/видео.html and it works great. So nice and fresh again! Thanks for motivating me to give it a shot, it was starting to get a little yucky when I took a closer look.
Tools I found useful: Use a cheap wooden chopstick ( the kind with a flat surface on the end) to push the ball out, a cloth COVID mask to catch the ball and a Q-tip to clean the ball chamber.
hi thank you for the video for me it's one of the euro electrique plug for removing the ball and mild solvant (kerosene or else), for the little rollers let the solvant rest for 20 sec then blow with dry compress air for pc cleaning the result is realy smouth dont deep the mouse into any liquide, just deep some q-tips in some kerosene then apply on the roller and let soak.
That was a curious choice of tool but it did work in my new video ruclips.net/video/2TBSo3LfPDk/видео.html . I don't have kerosene lying around but alcohol worked well and works for the outside top surface too!
Thanks for the vid. Unfortunately for me, I found it after I took apart the Ergo to clean the trackball holder. I managed to put everything together and it appears to be working just fine. I thought to myself, it can't be this hard to clean something like this; it has to be a better way. Lo and behold, here I am ;) thanks again.
The ball was always easy to clean. Haven't had a problem using something metal to push it out. The ball is tough and doesn't dent. What I needed was to learn how to clean the mouse wheel. It gets lint in there and it stops scrolling properly.
I pull the ball out couple of times a day while using and clean the little balls inside, they get dirty really fast and everytime I clean it the ball becomes much easier to move
Hi there , I am planning to buy new microphone but confused between "arrozi colona ( 83USD in my country) " vs "rode nt mini (120 USD)" . Can you please tell me that does "arrozi colona" provides zero latency monitoring just like "rode nt mini " ? Thanks in advance
Great video! It's shocking and extremely disappointing to see that the mouse itself doesn't come with instructions, nor even a link to a page with instructions, on how to clean their mouse. One question though: what do you use to clean the ball itself?
Thanks a lot - I was about ready to throw this mouse away and you showed an easy fix in a very straightforward way. Why hasn't the MFG provided this type of video? Because they hope you replace it and spend more money with them. Great job!

I was going to open it, by removing the screws with a screwdriver... So thank you for this video!
Thank you for teaching me how to clean my nice expense beautiful logitech mx ergo trackball mouse

Muchas gracias desde Chile en Sudamérica, no sabía como limpiarlo sin dañarlo. Mejoro un 1000%
Great thanks so much for this video my ergo was full of dust and didn’t move well before the cleaning
Is there a way this mouse can be used wired?
You can plug in the micro-usb cable permanently but you'll have to use the wireless usb dongle to connect still.
I pull the ball out couple of times a day while using and clean the little balls inside, they get dirty really fast and everytime I clean it the ball becomes much easier to move
A couple times a day seems a lot. Lots of dust in the environment?
@@SoSoTechTube the enviroment is kinda dirty here really, but I like it always 100% clean, even though there is almost no dirty I pull put and clea
Thank you it helped, it was dirty!!!! I haven't used it foe 1 yr. thinking it was done. My baby finger managed to push it out. lol

Yes it does. I finally made the switch to audio interface + XLR microphone though
Excellent! Thanks for sharing!
Use the backside of a pencil. Gives you a good excuse to always keep a pencil around, which is very handy

I honestly wasn't sure you can remove the ball without damaging anything 😄 I got the cheaper ERGO M575
Thank you for the excellent tutorial!
A ballpoint pen’s backside should work, like an old officepen that is hexagonal like a pencil with a clear body
Found one of those for my new video ruclips.net/video/2TBSo3LfPDk/видео.html
Great video, you helped me, thanks!
Thanks man. it is a lovely mouse.
Did exactly what it said on the tin...
Thank you :)
Quick question: Can you get procreate paying with a Visa Card?
yes

I love it. It's not perfect but it's the best for me.
But yes, it's time for me to make that video.

Probably the best ball mouse on the market by far. Too bad the manual didn't factor instructions on how to clean the mouse.

dude you saved my mouse! You dont want to know what i found in there. The cursor is moving almost TOO fast now.. :)
Use chopstick to get the ball out. Works great!
Bravo! Thank you!
Chopstick poke out the ball pretty well.
There is much that I could say about my love for the m570. The ONLY drawback, for me, is the build quality. Now, if I left it and used it on a desk or workstation, my gripe would be moot, however, My M570 sits on the arm of my recliner and many times, way too often, the thing falls off the chair arm 2 feet to the floor! The M570 is in No way built to be impact resistant! Over time, all those drops to the floor take their toll and cause button and other issues and the mouse becomes unusable. I've purchased 3 over the last few years.
What I really need to know, before I buy and try the new ergo, is "Will it handle those impacts?"
Thanks
P.S. The ball falls out and gets lost under furniture :)
Have you tried a small end table next to your recliner to rest the m570?
Great tip! velcro it down onto the table top. my stand is a bit tall but i've been wanting a shorter one so looks like the right time to get one. This has been one of those 'why didn't i think of that?' moments :)
thanks again!
I went through 3 or 4 M570 but then switched for the sideways scrollwheel and additional angle. Probably sticking with mx ergo
mmm yes :) We love this thing :)
Ummm, I just use a regular pencil eraser. Goes in with room to spare and the eraser is gentle on the ball.
this is not difficult and done in under 6.08 min . . . . . . . how to clean the switches inside ? thats the question
You leave the sticker on the bottom because you want the mouse to slide around like that, I suppose? That seems an odd choice.
Oh, I just wanted to keep the instructions around. The spinning is an unexpected fun side effect.
I did not know the bottom was magnetic XD thanks
Thanks!! 😁
Those in Asian countries have an advantage here, I found a Chop Stick did the trick!
