Oh this song. I listened to this over and over again when I broke up with my boyfriend in the 80's, We were together for 6 years. Needless to say I was devastated. I cried for days , I am 65 now and it still hurts.

Yeah..But I think they appeared in her videos when they didn't need to be in my opinion. I thought it was Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam not Full Force. This is the only video I think they should have been in beside the one where they play instrument..but that probably wasn't needed either.
Learned so much about them thru video interviews loved them as performers now worship them underrated and underecognised they live forever as musical forefathers

Intro remade Stevie Wonder’s Ribbon in the Sky, and Troop remade the Jackson 5’s All I do is think of You. Oh and I HAVE to give Tichina Arnold and Tischa Campbell their props when they remade the Emotion’s song, Don’t Ask My Neighbor. But these two ladies could always blow (think Little Shop of Horrors). It saddens me that people only know them for their roles on Martin…
Also IMHO, the Allure remake is trash! And I think Xscape’s remake of the Jones Girls “Who Can I run to” sounds cheesy as hell, because everyone on the track is trying to out-sing one another. Listen to it….

So I can enjoy Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, DeBarge, Prince, Michael Jackson, Guns N Roses, Rick James, Queen. Shop at Caldor, Bradlees, Woolworths, Crazy Eddie. Eat at McDonalds (when it was still good), Kentucky Fried Chicken (not KFC), and old school New York pizza. Wear Addidas with the fat laces, tracksuit. Enjoy the hype of Charles in Charge, Out of This World, The Cobsy Show (before the downfall), Golden Girls etc. Most of all, when the Knicks were a respectable team. I would like to relive this era as an adult whereas I was only a kid back then.

To me, 1985 was the peak, specifically Live Aid. A few good things happened in '86 - '88, but most of what I really loved was early 80s. I still love a lot of synthpop and power ballads like this, but my favorite thing was the way punk evolved into what they called "New Wave". Either way, this is a great song, and so was "Wonder if I Take You Home".

Memories flooding back. When this song was a hit I didn't understand it yet we were in grade school and all my friends were obsessed by it. Years later (and after I left an ill advised comment here) this became my favorite song when I fell in love with someone I'll never have nor even truly know. I spent a whole night crying over him a few months ago and love is not often a pleasant or healing emotion. This song and the 80s R&B/Soul jams are timeless and better than 99% of the dire pop hits (And even rock hits) of that era- this and Debarge "Rhythm Of The Night" are two of the main standouts.❤
