You list a lot of interventions, in some of which the role of the USA has not been established, or was not unique or central to the outcome (Syria, Libya, Somali, Yemen?). There is a level of hypocrisy in Western narratives, they have a dubious track record in the 20th century (and before), but the context of each of these cases is too different to lump them together and discuss here. And the development (and protection) of universal human rights and international law is a recent thing (2nd half of the 20th century).
Some other points then: interventions in Iran, Chile, or Panama were typically not framed as a liberation, in fact few people even knew about USA involvement at the time (or cared about it).
Deposing a theocratic or autocratic regime (Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan) could be considered liberation by many people, both in those countries and certainly by USA. Of course, USA has also installed dictators or kept them in power.
Thirdly, nations have always used subterfuge to establish regime change or protect their economic interest in other countries, since before the count of time. This is not the same as invading with an army and taking over control.

The US really needs to make clear what the rules are which make up the "Rules Based Order". For example, the US says China should abide by the United Nations Convention on Law of the Sea but the US itself is one of only two countries that are not signatories to the convention. Similarly, the US says that China should abide by the ruling of the World Court directed arbitration with respect to the dispute between China and the Philippines over the SCS. But the US does not recognise the jurisdiction of the World Court. It's clear then that UNCLOS and the World Court aren't part of the "Rules Based Order". So what is ? For example, what rule allowed the US to invade Iraq based on fabricated evidence of WMD, resulting in the deaths of a million people. Or the invasion of Afghanistan resulting in a quarter of a million deaths. Someone help me: what are the rules ! Then there are the many agreements that the US has reneged on such as the nuclear agreement with Iran, the intermediate range missile agreement etc. I guess these weren't part of the "Rules Based Order" so what is ? Finally, there is the International Criminal Court which the US has blocked from investigating US forces war crimes in Afghanistan. The US issued an executive order effectively criminalizing anyone who works at the ICC. Its lawyers, judges, researchers etc could now have their U.S. bank accounts frozen, U.S. visas revoked and travel to the U.S. denied.
Can I summarise what I think the "Rules Based Order" really is: It means that the US does what it likes and the rest of us do what we are told.
This is taken off the internet. Can't remember who posted the above, but I would like to attribute this to the writer, whoever you are.

That would be a simple question to answer. Nobody did and nobody asked them to repay Iraq for the damage they did in invading that nation based on their own manufactured lies. I don't see any of the actions taking by China ever reaching what the US did in Iraq.

like samir said, India is just too weak. he said china doesn't negotiate. of course it does. but India is too weak currently and not china's equal in anything, so why would china treat India as an equal? that is not "china does not negotiate" or "china is only about CPC dominating all of Asia" or any other nonsense. china is just doing china's interests, same as India and every other country. it's just normal realpolitik.
as for competing against china, he recommends that money must be put on the table also. ok, but if that's the case, then India, aus, Japan, usa, eu etc already lost. even all of them combined, none want to put trillions into such a project over decades, and even if they wanted to, their political systems do not allow for such a thing to happen, and no other countries would beleive western liberal democracy can stick to such deals over successive governments from different political parties. there's also the fact that china is ONE entity and controls trillions by itself whereas coalition like quad or eu must be done by consensus. so in that sense china is even more of an advantage since not even everyone is thinking of china in the same way.
does India think of. china in the same way as usa and think china is an peer adversary that must be contained economically at every step even if it hurts yourself also? of course not. usa is richer than china whole India is 5x poorer. so India wants china to keep developing and providing growth for the whole region and keep trading and investing in India. even in that sense, even usa is divided internally and does not have a coherent strategy, since us business interests are against their own government policies. there's no unity or even a coherent china strategy from even just usa, let alone a coalition led by usa and with countries like Japan, India, and even Australia where. china is all their biggest trade partners, and usas goal is to make china a smaller partner and with less leverage. this means usa wants to fuck over all it's allies relations with. china in the same way they are doing to Russia. china is just smarter than Russia and has not taken all the endless trolling and baiting usa and west has done. like Xinjiang, hk, and recently (again) Taiwan with Pelosi visit etc.
in that sense, India itself is also going to be on the chopping board if it keeps rising.
like I said from the start, India is weak. this is why usa can also work with India, because both positions align currently. but if India keeps growing usa will quickly side with. china which is already a peer to stop another near peer from developing. this is what usa is trying to do now, by dividing India and china, and slowing both china and indian growth down as much as possible and also highlighting differences and provoking conflict. just by signing quad, usa made India look like it joined an anti china containment coalition, which is really stupid for India since china will not be scared or give in to India if it joined such a thing. it will only make India be seen as even WEAKER, since before at least china will respect Indias strength to be able to remain neutral and independent and non aligned. now it seems like India has become a cheap hooker want to sleep with everyone for no real benefits and just possibility of benefits. usa has given India nothing basically and still sailing warshipsand doing FONOPS into indian eez to challenge India's excessive maritime claims. this is India's current quad 'ally'. even china does not do that. lmao.
so if India thinks china wants to dominate Asia and first island chain, what does it think about usa who wants to dominate the whole world in EVERYTHING including reserve currency and even has a base right in the middle of indian ocean and regularly challenges indian claims and maritime eez with warships? oh right, India can only talk when china does it. but when usa doesn't even have a claim and does it by sailing to other side of the world, India says absolutely nothing and instead becomes usas so called quad ally.
If china lost India it's because of India's own disfunctional politics and media, and them villainizing. china since 1962(admit it, it's not recent and India has a chip on it'd shoulder since even 1950 since India was richer than. china. now. china is 5x richer, it makes India inferior long ago even without border clash. indian ego cannot handle such losses to china but can accept to usa since they look up to west since colonisation made indians become second class citizens in their own minds long ago).
china only recently got that pride back since 2008 GFC to covid response to now, Chinese no longer think of usa or west as superior systems to emulate. Chinese are far more confident in their country and system now. and that's with 5x bigger economy than India, and china was only partially colonised like hk and macao.
indians need to do decolonisation program because it's obvious many indians still have Stockholm syndrome to colonisers while they act proud vs china at the same time. such a position is not objective and will generate resentment with Chinese because to. china indians are not giving china the respect it deserves. India does not treat china with the level of economic respect it treats everyone else with(ie usa).
if china has lost indian youth forever, that further proves my point. if indian youth can respect their former colonisers of hundreds of years who stole 45 trillion, destroyed and enslaved them for centuries, then china can also be respected in future. in the meantime India is only hurting itself by not embracing Chinese trade and cooperation.
china does not need India to build an Asian century. china is fine with it being a Chinese and asean and African century, while India chooses usa and refuses to be asian with Asia, same as Australia and Japan. this is a massive blunder by India and why even all her neighbours do not trust her, she plays all sides. china is at least on chinas side and Asia's side. India isn't even on India's side in the eyes of most asian countries and too much ego for too little ability. India acts like superpower more than china even. it's quite pathetic.

Both guests showed hypocritical when talking about China, their enraged criticism sentiment of China was uncalled for. Their alleged unethical behaviors are used by china, whilst these so-called unethical behaviors, are already commonly practiced by other nations (i.e. India, America, etc.), and there weren't any complaints. However, when China does the same would be criticized as to be unethical and evil.

I'm Indian, there are lot of things I agree with Dr. Samir but there are also lot of other things I disagree with him. The fundamental problem with many so called 'Indian intellectuals' like Dr. Samir himself is that; we (Indian) are heavily influence by western ideology and their worldview, that we forgot to see the world with our own eyes as it should. We always judge or see the Chinese from a very western driven perspectives which often carries politically motivated agenda and vested interest. This is the reason why we know so little about China despite sharing thousand of KMs borders with them. And even if we do know something about them, we know it in a very wrong way fed by western media and their views. Thus suspicions and mistrust has grown. The west are happy about this division and enmity between India and China (two Asian giants with potential superpowers in the world) because we will be busy pulling each others leg, while the West, led by US, will continue to maintain their hegemony, dominate and dictate the world. But many couldn't realized this. DIVIDE and RULE policy is still Alive and Kicking. Beware!
Besides the recent border skirmishes in Ladakh, I see a lot of Indians were reminded and told repeatedly about the 1962 war with China, where we unfortunately lost, and we are angry about it and rightfully so. But have we ever recalled that; it was the Indian army (under British command) who fought the Chinese for British empire in Opium War, where the Chinese were defeated and Hon-Kong was captured and handover to British for centuries, It was Indian traders under British rule who flooded the Chinese market with drugs and Opium (against the Chinese will) making them a hell of a drug addict society. Chinese consider those days under western colonization as humiliation, just like India took the 1962 war defeat as humiliation. India is not happy that China support Pakistan, Likewise China is not happy that India is hosting Dalia Lama's government in exile in India and flirting Tibet issue. See, the thing is; we both (India-China) have disagreement and had done things in the past that we do not not like, but even then, neither India nor China had invaded and colonized each other like the western imperialist did. Despite the difference and fight, there was no looting, slaughtering and enslaving the whole population like the west did to India/China for centuries.
Our difference are manageable. Many of our conflicts can be resolved. But mind you, WESTERN world won't let that happen very easily for obvious reason stated above. Today, China wants to get back their rightful place in the world and heal their past humiliation, but I'm not sure if India is aspiring to get back its glorious past and correct the past humiliation inflicted by the colonial west. As long as our Indian minds are still colonized with western ideology and biased worldviews, it'll take much longer time for India to be truly independent of western hegemonic influence.
I also don't agree with him saying every young Indian hate China because of the recent events, and because they are different and they can never be like us. I mean, come on, Dr. Samir, that's a very shallow and childish way of putting things into perspectives. I do not expect such a narrow view from a prominent figure like you. It's true Indians are apprehensive about our relation with China due to the recent events, but that does mean we hate Chinese because they are Chinese and are different from us. Not all Indians are that narrow minded. It's like the West tell everyone in the world that 'Either you are with us or against us'. India has openly reject such shallow idea from the West, and here you are talking and judging like the west, though in a different context.
The real threat to world peace, progress and prosperity is the West led by US. Look back to the past centuries, the sufferings, the wars , the chaos etc. and you'll know the reason why?

The only thing childish here is your reply based solely on emotions. You clearly don't understand the concept of regional hegemony. India in itself wants a multipolar world but china will try everything to stop India growing economically to maintain its hegemony in Asia. That is the sole purpose of BRI. With BRI and string of pearls china is trying to create its hegemony through both land and ocean routes. Working with china means becoming it's vassal state. Grow up kid don't fall for Chinese propoganda.

Kolvicz D. Well said. Great respect for you. Sadly, as you mentioned, it is the so-called experts like Dr. Samic that influence Indians to hate China. There are so similarities among China and India, and both of them are a superpower in their own ways. If China and India can work together, the whole Asia will rise and prosper. That's what the west don't want.

@@pragyanshsingh6093 I get it, If I were to choose between democracy and autocracy/communist, I will 100% choose democracy any day. I was born and brought up in a democratic setup & environment that I believed is best for me and my country. Likewise Chinese people believed in their own system and it works for them despite many flaws and limitations it has. I really think this democracy vs Chinese communist system and which ideology should rule the world is bullsh*t and waste of time. We should only be worried if China is actively working to export their communist system to other countries forcefully like USA usually do using agencies like NED and CIA, along with sanctions and military might, and toppling foreign government and installing their own puppet government. So far we haven't seen any such ill intention from China for ideological supremacy outside of their own country, as opposed to the west. So, my point is "Live and Let live". If they are happy and content with their own system and if it works for them (though not perfect), then who are we to judge or worry about their business as long as they don't try to force their system on us. You and I cannot expect everyone on earth to think and behave like us. Only some ignorant Americans thinks they are the whole world and expect everyone else to be like them or else they are enemy/adversaries.!! Indian should be better than that. India embraced and hold pride in the diversity of our country. Let us keep that same broad view even to the outside world.

What Indians have to say on an international stage is captured by videos made by Indians and shown only to Indians which makes me think if we are relevant people to start with ? I live in Germany and my eyes search for Indians who are are heard in front of western world audience but unfortunately I am able to dig a clip or two of Shashi Tharoor and his Oxford university ranting on English exploitation of India during Raj days. Why is this happening ? I can only see one reason that we Indians are not mature enough to talk sense to the people of west hence we are kind of invisible to them.
