The US wanted TSMC to make the highest end chips without any supporting infrastructure. Meaning the US didn't have the bureaucratic expertise, engineers, builders, contractors etc because they have never made something like this before so they had to import all that from Asia. Also Arizona is a desert with low water and high dust levels which is terrible for chip manufacturing. Meanwhile Japan still had that local infrastructure, plus they allowed TSMC to start at a lower end chips and then scale up slowly and steadily. This allowed TSMC to gain a footing, understand the local market, build the expertise and reinvest profits for making higher end chips. Reducing it to "oh labour and land is more expensive" is extremely reductionist and doesn't tell the actual story.

That will make us more than US$ 18 trillion economy; which would enable us to confront US or any state and non-state actors interfering in our internal matters. Also more wealth will give us more sovereignty. And a host of other benefits. However we should take only as much we can take and keep pushing i.e. doing our own things like buying Russian oil and trying to keep our man in countries where we want it to. Hint is BD and SL. Important thing is to wait and have patience. Our time will come it hasn't come yet in genuine way 🤞🏻🙏🏻
