Another great one, Nick! I really love your DCC content, Patreon stuff looks great (once I get some pay here, I'll sign onto it), and I'll be running The Old Gods for my family soon, followed by OAR Temple of Elemental Evil to tie into it with Tjaptar's spirit winging away towards Homlett. 🤓😋

Great stuff, Nick. I agree that DCC is absolutely built for campaign play. I like to use the modules to provide a little punch to the campaign.

I agree. I actually find that's true, even with my own adventures. Folks enjoy when I riff, but it rarely hits as hard as my published content. The puzzles are deeper, combats are more thought out, etc. And Goodman makes fantastic modules, as we both know.

I disagree about the modules. I mostly run my campaigns using the modules. They are chalked full of emergent story bits to tie on too. It doesn't take much to make minor tweaks or small reskins (often just a rename) to string them together. I get why people think of them that as self contained, they are certainly sold that way, but the authors leave so many tendrils. Anyways, great topic and one deserving of this discussion. Thanks Nick!

Thanks Cole! And I think leaving "tendrils" is generally just good adventure design, and Goodman has top notch adventure writers.

Great points Nick? Where's the beard man?

Thanks Nate. Despite several ladies complimenting the beard IRL, I do not like it. Makes me look/feel old. And itchy! :D

Thanks Michael! Also, I watched a couple of your videos a few weeks ago. Very cool what you can do with a single instrument and layers of effects pedals. I hope you're still actively doing stuff.

Timely, considering running some DCC but for some reason it does come across as not being a "campaign".

@@sumdude4281 The rules set is definitely intended for campaign play. I actually experienced my first, over-the-top one-shot last weekend. The kind that colors DCC in the usual discourse. A wizard spellburning down to a husk to summon endless toad creatures. Another doing it to summon a fire elemental. It was wild seeing the extremes that some people take it to. But I've been running DCC since 2017, and that was the first time I experienced that.

@@breakerpressgames we have a DCC Chapter here that (I think #1 actually) that runs games out of the local game store and I played last weekend in a funnel and it was a lot of fun. So it will be interesting to see a transition now to 1st level campaign this weekend and see how it plays out.

Don't back this guy's Kickstarters. All you get is excuses, self-promotion and aggrandisement about the conventions he's been to, the other projects he hasn't delivered that are ahead of yours, and an ever-changing delivery date. It's been nearly a year since I backed a ZINE and people on that KS are complaining they haven't even received the pdfs from the previous issue (already published) they ordered. If you want work in progress you have to join his patreon apparently. I DONT WANT TO JOIN YOUR PATREON, I WANT MY PDFs THAT WERE DUE IN EARLY 2024. Don't start so many Kickstarters at once if you can't deliver. Terrible service.
