hello Boca Joe! im in SE Michigan this i mine 4th year now first year I've lost some palms didn't know about hardiness but now I have a lot of blue rostratas and two kind of prickly pear cactuses with No winter protection they thrive here got two small windmills they survive two Michigan winters and I've got another biger windmill about 3ft trunk witch ive got from my cousin in Dallas and planted it last December 2015 in the ground had relly mild December and i put it in the ground! doing very well now May the 2nd with no burn what so ever they love it here got few kind of bananas they doing grea here comes out every spring with new pups with it! like I said I'm just the beginner getting better and better ! to say... we can do it they just love here! and guys don't give up! just research some tell you we can make paradise wright in northern states! im doing my own research and I'm telling you! They love here and they thrive here!##
they don't grow there= the whole idea is to CREATE a tropical environment with the addition of plants. This photo shows how you can change the whole feel and look with just planting some palm trees- even if only for the summer.

Eileen it depends where you live, how much you want to water, annuals or perennials? How much shade, what type of soil etc.
I am just trying to learn how to store my plants for next year.

So this is in Chicago which is bellow zone 10 or 11 right how could these coconuts go northmost past its former growing range?
