MOST OP STORM SORCERER Build Guide: Baldur's Gate 3

- This is by far the MOST OP STORM SORCERER Build Guide in Baldur's Gate 3. This is one of my favorite classes in the game, because it can deal a ton of damage easily. It doesn't require much setup and many classes can be synergetic with this, with the many ways that you can set up water in Baldur's Gate 3! Whenever water is set up, your lightning and cold spells will deal double damage, which can be incredibly powerful in most parts of the game. This Storm Sorcerer build is my favorite that I have used, but I slightly prefer the draconic sorcerer

Here is a WILDFIRE DRUID build guide in BG3!

I am on my first playthrough and as a complete newbie I just was having fun and experimenting and figured it would be a throw away run to just see how to play. I started draconic but quickly switched to storm. And being able to find a very early game staff that gives the free spell of create water…. It’s just been too much fun.
Create water is so good! I recommend making your cleric a tempest cleric and having create water on them! They go together well
I have played this game so many times and I always go back to frost and storm casters
Yeah same here it’s by far my favourite.
Also LOVE the Quagsire profile pic. When I was a kid I got my mom to make me a Quagsire Halloween costume hahaha
This is just adorable :D@@JasonDunna
Thanks for this Detailed Guide, i started my 2. Playtrough yesterday and trying out this Build :) , wish me luck!
You’ll have a blast with it! Best of luck!!
storm sorcerer is so fun in this game! being able to fly everywhere from the start is so fun lol
This and the draconic sorcerer are the two best! Draconic doesn’t fly until level 11 though
showed this to my friend and he absolutely loved it. thank you so much man.
Love to hear it! Thanks for sharing my video, it means a lot
On one character, get Ethels hair and the +2 mirror bonus to charisma and the +2 hat. You'll have 24 charisma. On this character go dragon sorcerer. Use the potent robes and the amulet that adds casting stat to cantrips. Then the staff that comes with a dragon blessing. This will cause your ray of frost to deal 3d8+25 or 3d8+50 on wet targets.
Because it's a cantrip it's cheap to kick with metamagic. Twin spell on a wet target means you're dealing 12d6+100 from cantrips. Which means your big spell slots don't get wasted on chaff
Great points!!
The hat can’t push your charisma past 22
@@CallOfDutyFightNerd you can get 24 charisma though the mirror bonus is added after the hat pushes it to 22
@ oh that’s interesting. I love your videos by the way! Keep it up man
@@CallOfDutyFightNerd thanks so much!! I appreciate it
Storm sorceror mitigates the biggest weakness if any short race characters: Not being able to jump on high ledges. My current play through is a wild magic halfling and at the start if the game my character physically cannot climb the ledge to bypass the intellect devourer fight. Not a difficult fight, but I dislike how my shortness blockades me from advancing in certain ways.
Yeah fly is such a useful ability, sucks it required a spell and bonus action but getting it at level 1 is wild. Draconic sorcerer fly just uses movement speed and you get it at level 11 but doesn't require a spell cast or bonus action. Both sorcerers are amazing
Interestingly enough the Durge is a Storm Sorcerer canonically. Fly is so strong. I like to go Partial Illithid for the free fly lol
You’re right, my first durge was sorcerer for that reason and the class is just so good
The partial illithid fly is nice because it uses movement speed and no bonus action like the draconic level 11 sorcerer fly
And black hole for those easy create water and chain lightnings....
@@Swinhoegaming it’s crazy how fast you can clear encounters with these skills combined hahaha
@@JasonDunna Just a shame about those black eyes and veins 😢
@@JasonDunnathe draconic sorcerer fly at level 11 doesn’t require any resources other than movement speed unless I am misremembering
I just finished a tactician run with a storm sorc in group. It was very op. My other characters barely got to have a turn.
Right?? That’s how most encounters go. I even ran 4 of them one time and it was very powerful
This video and a few others of yours have been a massive help, thanks bro
Hello there General Greivous! I’m so happy to hear they’ve been helpful! If you have any requests just let me know
Hello! Thanks for the guide, I try this build it in my current run, just got lvl 5. Never used Sorcs until now, because I always empty my spellslots way too fast lol
Long rest often and you’ll be good! Being able to cast two spells per turn is wild
On tactician,I two shoted all enemyes in the last encounter ontop of the Nether Brain, including the dragon,(x2 twin chain lightning) that is ,x2 chain lightnings at maximum dmg and x2 at maximum dmg+ 100% crit.
2 lvl in tempest cleric
10 storm sourcerer
After playing it,it makes harder for me playing other magic builds, cause it overshadows evrything
It is by far the best!! You can easily one or two shot most end game enemies
How do you get chain lightning without level 11 sorcerer lol
@@licht_22 i dont remember exactly, its been months since i playd
I found any class going 1 class into Wizard you can then learn scrolls ( but only work on some classes as needs wisdom). But also found another good one was use Warlock class by a couple of lvl as it adds devilsight
Wizard spells end up using your intelligence stat for spell casting so you’ll have to have some or you’ll miss your attacks! Getting chain lightning at Sorcerer 11 is extremely powerful, devils sight is nice but unless you have a darkness team getting more levels of sorcerer ends up stronger.
The beauty of BG3 is everything is viable though!
@@JasonDunna hi yea I get what your saying, I was a Druid/wizard 1 lvl and picked up chain lightning and quite a few other spells as well and could swap them around
Wouldn't Watersparker boots + Sparkswell ring be a good combo with the gloves of Belligerent skies so you do not get reverb stacks for your own lightning & get buffed by standing in lightning
That could be another solid pairing!
Lightning / Ice Sorcerer my all time favorite!
Mine as well!! Just posted an ice sorcerer wizard build and I love the synergy between them
I'm playing this as Durge and I'm having so much fun ⚡
It’s really strong! So much fun.
Love the shiny Mew profile picture too
Hello, this is my first day at the game. Thank you, sir; I appreciate it! Regarding companions, could you tell me what choices you made? Could you please provide a guide as to why you chose them?
I’m happy this video helped!
I like Gale Astarion and Shadowheart, but it really comes down to whose personality you like most! You can respec them at any time to whatever class combinations you want
if you take the dual wieldier feat you can have two arcane batteries, the marko and the staff in the house of hope
That set up goes hard
Do you have sliders for this character? I love this look ❤️
Drow elf face 5 and there’s no mods used in this design
I'm playing a Storm Sorcerer just now and it's so much fun. I've taken 2 Cleric but only at level 9 so not a final build. Thoughts on going 1 level into Wizard to learn spells you wont unlock?
1 level wizard is great but you’ll need the intelligence headband to be able to prepare and cast them as INT modifier would be low!
I have a guide on that here: ruclips.net/video/oygX4TJ8dPw/видео.htmlsi=_LZb3KY4VeADdE1r
Nice build man.
Which race/subrace are you using amd would recomend, please?
Wood elf is great for extra movement speed! Drow is nice for the darkness as well but it’s personal preference, doesn’t make a big difference
A bit late, but High-Half Elf is the most ideal choice. It gives shield proefficency from level 1 meaning, with Mage Armor you get 18 AC at level 1. You also get an extra cantrip.
2 dip into Tempest Cleric at lv1,2 give ability to wear heavy armor and there you go, you have a Thor in frontline
Yesssirrr and the channel divinity is so good
Yeah but you don't want to go it early on. You want those first 5 sorc levels asap.
Also I think it was 2 levels of tempest cleric.
Hello. I’ve been following this guide for my (hopefully) first complete playthrough but I’ve been wondering what would be the best party for this specific build. Tempest Cleric Shadowheart seems like the obvious choice and I’ve been rolling with Fighter Lae’zel and Gloomstalker Astarion but I’d like to get my bro Gale into the mix, thoughts?
Tempest cleric is a great choice. Gale can stay a wizard and contribute, I like abjuration or necromancer, but even evocation works well. Take a single level dip in tempest cleric for create water, heavy armor and the reaction
Where do you get those items? Do you have them written down anywhere?
Thank you for the great guide!
Would you consider doing a video on how to create your character's look or post the creation information and mods required?
I don’t use cosmetic mods in any builds so anyone can recreate them! This is the wavemother’s robe with boreal blue dye. I have a character creation guide but I might make a better one and post it up tomorrow!
good guide i'm using it on my current play through also where is that outfit from
Thank you! It’s the Wavemother’s robe
What's your thoughts on using helldusk armor instead of the cleric dip since you don't need proficiency?
If you're going to do an all cha party take 17 across the board and put the hags hair into something else. Cha is the only stat you can get a +3 from the mirror of loss if you answer the questions in the correct order. All other stats can only get a +2 you can still get the extra +1 cha doing the right dialogue with the other stat choices too. For my sorcerer and cleric multiclass I go 17 cha, 16 Wis, hags hair into Wis 17 and Jaherra's amulet to 18 Wis, and a 22 Cha. So your saves from items you wear are good too, since your last class taken sets the saving throw DC of your items that have saves. Only problem with the Amulet is having to give up the one that increases cantrip damage one.
I always thought Jaheira’s amulet only worked for her so that’s cool to know!!
does duel wield not work with the staff of spell power and Markoheskir anymore seems like that would be more more effective with two batteries than the shield. Watching ton of videos trying to figure out different sorc builds and came across it in some going back in last year.
Depends if you want an extra spell and increased spell save DC or 2 extra AC
if Markoheshkir gives access to chain lightning, why not go 2 levels of tempest cleric for access to the divinity for guaranteed 160 damage? Just curious
That is another choice, or you can also add in a level of wizard and scribe chain lightning with the int circlet
I’d say the strongest version is 9 sorc/2 tempest cleric/1 wiz with INT as main stat
Sorc/cleric spells are ultimate spells, and ones needing attack rolls/spell save DC are taken from wizard/scrolls/items (such as the staff)
That’s a strong one too for sure! Any combination will be strong enough to wreck the game
I need the name of your outift pls. It looks so nice
Wavemothers robe!
Which mod is making ur char looking so sick?
@@Joske369 actually don’t use any appearance mods! All base hairstyle/makeup and they’re wearing the wavemothers robe dyed boreal blue!
@@JasonDunna Wow ur really creative that looks so cool
@@Joske369 thank you! I have a guide on how I make them: )
ruclips.net/video/fsoD3o7TRC0/видео.html
Can i put 1lv of cleric at second level so i can start using better weapons and armor
@@Keyroye totally yes! The reaction is also really nice
@@JasonDunnaThank you, I appreciate your reply’s and taking the time to do it
So you either cross class it with a cleric or a barbarian?
Yeah depending on your armor preference, barbarian lets you wear clothes with a +6 AC and cleric gives heavy armor proficiency
how did u get the water spells in general?
Storm sorcerer, cleric, Druid and conjuration wizards all get create water as a spell
Cromatic Orb deals 2d8 damage, it only deals 3d8 thunder damage, all other elements deals 2d8
Yes but you can upcast it! It’ll receive double damage from create water as well
Bro great video, very informative but maybe consider recording when you aren’t so sleepy?
Hahaha it’s not that I’m sleepy, I just talk for way too long without breathing hahaha. I’m trying to get better at it but my body forces me to breathe by yawning. It’s rough
Great video, could you do a list of items for every act?
Ill work on something like that! Thank you for the suggestion!
Where mine is my Tav, with 17 chr. What should my other abilities be?
If you have the hags hair take it to 18 and then ASI to 20! Rest of your points into constitution and dexterity
So leave what skill a 10?
What about race for this build?
I like wood half elf but it’s really up to you. Shield proficiency is nice
Can you play this without multi classing?
Yeah you can go full storm sorcerer but a level of tempest cleric gives heavy armor and a reaction which is nice. You can change difficulty to multiclass and then change it back if you need to
Don't get it. When do u skill "create or destroy water"?
Tempest cleric gives it
Also level 6 storm sorcerer gets it
Does this still work in patch 6 ik that the previous super busted one doesn’t work like this anymore
Create water still doubles the damage of cold and lightning spells!
Why do you level up cleric at 12? Why don‘t you start with cleric?
I’d recommend taking cleric when you get a decent set of heavy armor! You can really add it in at any time
how do you get that armor/dress?
It is the Wavemother’s robe ! You can get it in act 3
What’s the outfit called
Wavemothers robe!
Why no level 2 Cleric for max damage elettric?
You can go that way as well but you’ll lose chain lightning cast with charisma
Whoa what robe is that???
The Wave Mothers robe!! You can get it in act 3!
Where can I find the gear
Wavemothers robe is from the Water Queen’s house
What background ???
Whatever one you fancy but sage or noble work well!
As per patch 7 go full storm sorcerer or tempest cleric much better
Nah I think this actually ends up stronger
I can’t find my fly ability
You have to cast a spell first for it to appear
First
You are fast ⚡️
Just a small bit of constructive criticism. Talk slower, breathe more. 😂
Oh yeah I run out of breath sometimes hahahaha. I remember when I filmed this I was in a big time crunch so i think that impacted it
How do you already have a cool set of armor on in the character selection / creation screen instead of the basic robes?
This is the wavemothers robe, when you go to respec your character it’ll be wearing whatever armor / clothing you have on
@@JasonDunna How do you get Wavemothers Robe?
@@Heartkiller1991
You get it in the middle of Act 3, at a place, where other NPC wear this armour too. You also can miss this place. Or this quest.
ICE 🧊 will always be the answer 🎉 I also love how you can YEET the enemy 😂 and fly away as if you just farted a gust of wind at them. 😂
Yesss ice is the best! Love making enemies slip and lose concentration on spells!
