@Peter Alexander Twin turbo? Which model is that? Or do you mean one of those T8 versions? That would be a turbo, a supercharger and an electric help. The dealerships love them too. Clever system but not very sturdy to abuse.
fair play to the drivers of the "old" volvos (and all old cars) no fancy traction control and stability programs making you look like you can drive!!!!
@@JohanLind you're lucky to have seen them in real life! I've been a Volvo fan since my family got our first XC70 in 04. Ever since I've wished I could travel back in time
Been a massive Volvo fan all my life and this video makes me extremely happy. It's hard to choose a favourite here. But if I had to...the gold V70R or the S40. the S70's and 850's were very close (as was the V40)
Great footage! There’s something about owning and driving a Volvo, those 5 cylinders are so addictive. That golden S40 T4 looks great. Surprised not to see more P3’s (except the V60).
Gotta love those old turbo bricks. Brings back memories of Touring Car Championships in the mid 90s when Volvo entered their 850 wagon against all the other manufacturers saloons. Happy days.
Thank you for this nice compilation. Good to see a few 480's in it and even that 360!!! The 1800 at the end was really nice and the driver is very daring with that car! Reminds me to NOT drive there with my Volvo which is FWD and an automatic with a LPT. I'll stick to traffic lights quickies and motorway blasts!
I use to drive a Volvo S80 5cyl Turbo for courier work. Got it up to 142mph before letting off out of fear the tires would explode! Only wish it came in Rwd and not Fwd or a heavy Awd. Once he sold the S80 I started using crown vics and found they were just as good on gas and were great for doing 1,200 miles per week working only 4 days! The Volvo my have been faster but the crown vic was way more Fun! The Rwd helped, I could use the E-brake on the Volvo to make a super fast tight turn but in the Vic, all I had to do was put my foot down. Learning weight transfer is a MUST for driving large cars on tight twisty roads. Not everyone can get the feel for it but once you do, you can drive anything faster then it was ever meant to go! I always held myself to a much higher standard then others because I thought that if I became the best driver, I'd earn a chance to go racing.... I really thought all it took was being the best and proving it, but no sadly, it takes lots of money and support from others. I kept my dream for years, even after finding out that I have a twist in my spine that was going to have me in a wheelchair by 35! I made it to 36! I got by doing the only thing I could, driving. I kept getting better and even started driving larger things like class-A Motorhomes. I was a courier for 24 years, and I LOVED MY JOB! I guess that's why I got hit while stopped for a red light 3 years ago throwing me, still belted in the drivers seat into the back seat! Before that I was on a cane and only had to use the wheelchair if I was going to be on my feet for too long, now it hurts too much to drive 5 mins to the store. (I'm not okay) ... I really wish I could go back to doing what I loved, driving fast was the only thing I had to be happy about in my life and now I don't. (sorry for the rant, I'm suffer a bit too much)
Having driven one myself for the best part of 15 years, I have to say I am pretty surprised how well the old 940s are doing. Certainly not the fastest but mostly doing a fine clear line without any stability issues. 👌
Volvo ftw Besonders schön fand ich dass der P1800 direkt nach mir ( 12:34 ) dran kam. Die ES Variante ist ja quasi der Vorgänger vom 480. Und ich liebe der 5zyl klang von den großen!
Nice vid, I think I only saw 2 cars with swedish numberplates, thats a shame really, we swedes maybe only go to the Ring with more track suited cars...
I would love to see what a 240 Turbo would do on stock springs and really good 205/65R15 tires. No matter how hard I pushed my 89 DL automstic, on Michelin Defender H rated tires. I could never get any squeals out if them. The car would lean, take a set, and then just go. The only reason it came off the road is rot after 400,000 miles and 34 Ontario, Canada winters.
Those 5 cylinder volvo's are always so nice to see

In a P1800?!? That guy RULES, totally gets it! ;-)
4:10 god damn look at those brakes, i think they could use some cooling down
Just a little 😃
As a fellow gen 1 s40, I'd say that's not all his fault. No cool down by next corner probably had a bad caliper
