I bought this one to replace the Echo show 8. Just so I could see the weather time and date all the time. The show 8 was so annoying displaying ads for amazon shopping and other nonsense. This one is perfect as a bed-side clock, just pair it with your phone and you can say "computer, pair with my phone" and then resume whatever podcast or audio book you were listening to while on the go.
you can change whats showing on the homescreen, i just set it to the clock, weather and news.
Glad there are no ads. Wish echo show was the same w/o ads. All i want it to display is the time and weather
Amazon is most likely waiting to get enough of them sold to prevent all the negative comments. And then I'm sure they will bombard their customers with ads, as they have done with everything in the past.
Set language to Canadian English ….Canada has banned unwanted ads

I really like the Echo Spot because it has a screen and no ads, unlike the other Echos with Screens

Hey, enjoyed the video and I picked up a few hints for things I had no idea this could do. Unfortunately I had to send mine back already, because (IMHO) the best feature of the original Spot by far was its ability to cycle visually through weather alerts/daily forecasts/daily insights/news reports from various sources, along with popular recipes, wha't's streaming on Aiexa, etc. etc. and you can just tap to learn more. The new Spot, well, it just sits there showing the time and a weather icon. It would be interesting to do a video comparing the original Spot vs. this one side by side to show what's been left out of the new one. My guess is Amazon wants you to buy this for your nightstand AND a Show of some kind to replace the original Spot ;-(
I turned all of those things off on my first spot so it only displays the clock. Sounds like I’m going to like this one.

Are you still able to use SiriusXM as your wake up audio? Can you turn the display completely off at night?
@bryanjames2229 It has a night mode setting but I think you'd have to manually turn the brightness all the way down for no display

How do you set an alarm that repeats on specific days of the week? For example, I want an alarm that repeats Monday to Thursday.

What if your phone isn't nearby. Can the Spot keep playing music/radio/answering questions, etc? Or does it require a direct connection to a device such as a tablet or cellphone?
It is directly connected to the Internet so can be fully used without the phone nearby as long as you have previously set it up. I was Bluetoothing my phone for music but but that is the only time my phone would need to be nearby.

I just got the dot 5th gen..I'm dissappeared. The motion sensor routines don't work, echo only hears the wake word part of the time,and they discontinued the clock. I wish I had gotten this one, but now át 79, no way.

My last Echo Spot screen started flickering after two years. A well documented issue which had Amazon completely ignore. I wonder if this 2nd generation will experience the same.
can you add custom alarms like you downloaded.

Does it have battery backup and work without signal as an alarm clock is the only reason I’ll buy one of those things.
Is there a way or command to play music BUT keep the clock display? Basically background music with out the song name and animation? Also to end music I say 'turn off' but it seems to only silence it. I have to say 'HOME' to go back to the startup screen?

Can I use this to replace my old echo show which I only use to display the time. Will it announce when I get an Amazon deliver, thank my driver and play my music?
i just bought one as a bedside clock ... but i'm in AU and we get bugger all settings via the app to change things on these devices....
With AI Amazon should start giving us a visual virtual assistant with their devices, like in most SF movies.

Yes, that can be done in the Alexa app.
Hey there Tech with Brett, just got a quick question. If for whatever reason. You need to reboot your Google home hub and it finished rebooting, why does it loose wifi connection fir a few seconds?
If this keeps happening you can try to give the device a Factory Reset. Then you set it up like it is brand new. If after that it continues to have that issue try rebooting your router. If you still have issues after that I would contact Google if it is still under warranty. If not, it might be time to upgrade to a new Home Hub.
@@TechWithBrett ok, it's nothing major. It only happens once. And I hardly reboot it. I only did it yesterday as I needed to charge a few devices and I don't have alot of power points. My google works perfectly fine

I believe Google has stopped providing software to 3rd parties so the best option is to get the Google Nest Hub.

Yes it does and goes to a very dim red at night.

It does not show lyrics. It only shows the song artist and title on screen.

It's probably a sensor
There is no camera on the Echo Spot, it is an ambient light sensor. This makes it so it can automatically adjust the brightness based on the light in the room.

You are only able to put 2 of the exact some speaker into a stereo pair for home theater. You can however put them both in a speaker group to listen to synced music.

Is this model Matter? Can I connect it to my Apple HomeKit app?
It works with Matter devices but doesn't have a hub built in. It can not be connected to Apple HomeKit.

The Echo Show 5 or Echo Hub are best for this.
Pity it didn't support a full colour screen with live weather animations. Similar to something you can do on a smartwatch. Still a nice product though.
Don’t see that this does anything my echo sphere doesn’t do, except there’s that tiny screen with a limited number of displays.

One thing I don't like about this echo is you only get weather with two clockfaces and I don't get weather with the purple color clockface.

It can connect to a device over Bluetooth to play radio from a phone or to a speaker. Yes it can play radio stations from iHeart Radio.

Can you use this as a intercom?
Yes you can with other Echo speakers. You can Drop In directly to the other speaker and start speaking to whoever is in the room. You can also Announce a message, and it will send that message to all the other Echo speakers in the home.

You can’t seem to make this wake up to music only the sounds which is kind of annoying. I much rather have music. Play then an alarm ringing.
It doesn’t return to the home clock screen when I tell it to stop playing radio station

Another Amazon device destined for CEX in a year for about £10-£20. The developers seem to be churning out the same product with different designs and not using any innovation.

Seems kinda stupid. The screen only shows the weather and it has no camera. The non-sale price is 95 euro in Europe lol. Better to get a normal echo Dot or if you want a screen then get the small echo Show. My opinion of course..
To be honest it's useless. The first one is discreet and powerful. It's enough for me.
after using Ai alexa and siri seem so dumb now :)
