@@theminecraftjester1738 Honestly. If they just scaled the Gyms and made their teams a bit better (like, give them items and competitive movesets like they did with BDSP) it would actually be a pretty tough game, especially with some of the new Pokemon being just really tough.
Right like. Don’t sit there acting confused about why you’re still friends with penny or disliking Arven when you also admit that you really don’t read the dialogue
How cool could it have been if the gyms scaled, their Pokémon were evolved or not, had different moves, etc depending on when you get there (your teams levels)
Pass. I actually appreciated being able to tackle the game severely out of order and give myself a challenge for once. I don't really want a modern Assassin's Creed kind of thing where the enemies are just "your level minus a few".
I dunno. I feel like that would invalidate the individualized experiences inherent to an open world game. It has the benefit of making it more approachable and easy, but it takes away the ability to try an extend beyond your reach.
I feel like this is the only open-world game where you can go the "wrong way". The reason BOTW is so special is because you can go anywhere you want and the game evolves alongside you, something this game doesn't do. I appreciate the ability to tackle things out of your league, but so many times I've heard people say "oh, I'm not supposed to be here yet." and then get their ass handed to them.
It irks me when people get mad at how the Team Star storyline turns out after barely reading the dialogue. The whole point is that you'll misunderstand them if you don't listen--Clavell is good for wanting to investigate Team Star before outright expelling them, despite the ill rumors surrounding them. Regarding Penny's punishment, I think it shows proactivity on Geeta's part, promoting the idea of punishments being primarily beneficial to society over strictly detrimental to the one being punished. Besides, Penny is still a kid, and one with good intentions at that. (And, as chat mentioned, this is sometimes what happens with hackers in real life.)

Fun fact, here's a few of the Spanish things that are in the game that is like Ekans in its level of creative naming: Uva = grape Naranja = orange (scarlet) Turo = part of futuro, meaning future Sada = part of pasada, meaning past (scarlet) If no one's got Quaquaval yet, it's supposed to be like Carnivale, because hes like one of the dancers, but hes a duck, so quack. Had lots of fun playing the game. Skeledirge, everyone's favourite little funeral singer, is the best and I also had the "why he look like a clown tho" for the first hour and then I got used to it as flames instead cause I looked at the sprite often. Don’t worry bro I’ll give you some positivity: dudunsparce doesn’t deserve the hate at all when it’s in the same generation as the worst pokemon design of all time - Maushold/Mauswhatever I don’t want to know the name of this abomination
Dudunsparce is stupid as all hell, and that's why its perfect. Dunsparce was designed to be a worthless, weak Pokemon. Everyone clamoring for a cool, powerful evolution were entirely missing the joke; they just didn't get it. So when Gamefreak finally gives in and gives Dunsparce an evolution, what do they do? Dunsparce but more. It is one of the greatest trolls in gaming history, and I love it. Dudunsparce is one of my favorite Pokemon of this generation, and this one is full of bangers.
@@pete5516 Maushold is lazy and boring, but it's inoffensive. It's not worth hating, and it's certainly not "the worst Pokemon design of all time," especially not when it's sitting in the same generation as Scovillain. Why does it have a fire head/grass head dynamic if the entire thing is grass, anyways? Why does it look like it ran faces first into a brick wall a few dozen times? Why do its teeth clip through its jaw?! I just cannot stand looking at this complete monstrosity, and I loathe that it's now part of the franchise forever. Violet is such a frustrating game because it has so many cool and interesting ideas for mechanics and stories without the good performance to back them. It would be like a 10/10 game if it actually functioned without issue
If they just had another year, maybe even just six months, it could have been a perfect game. I absolutely despise the unstoppable content train that the Pokemon Company forces onto Gamefreak. I don't care if delaying the game hurts the anime or stagnates the card game or kills the merchandise engine. If you're making art, your top priority should be to make that art as good as it can be. Everything else comes after. Also, I'm pretty sure that the number one most profitable media franchise in human history can afford to take a small hit to the bottom line in the name of securing a brighter future. Because at this point, Pokemon is on a collision course with a bad end. Ever since Pokemon went to the Switch, the games' quality have been going downhill fast. They cannot keep putting out half finished garbage. The name will only carry them so far before people finally have enough and stop taking it. Things may be working out fine right now, but eventually something is going to break. The tech requirements are only going to increase as the years go by, and if Gamefreak can't keep up with the Switch, how bad will it be on whatever console comes next? This isn't even a choice; they need to slow down. If they don't take a break and shore up the holes in quality and standards, they could end up destroying their franchise. They really need to think things over before they kill the golden goose.
@@Celestia282 well, they can keep going with putting out half finished garbage because the fanbase is shoving their money down gamefreaks throat, even buying both versions just for the luls, why change something if you still get your big money

I dont think theres a WORSE pokemon game, except maybe arceus, but even then that one wasnt nearly as bland

to clarify at 55:00 if a poison type uses toxic it will ALWAYS hit even in the semi-invulnerable turns of dig and fly. if the same pokemon uses any other moves that use accuracy on the same turn they also skip the accuracy check known as "the toxic sure-hit glitch". in swsh version 1.3.1 and onward this glitch is no longer present
Seems like quite a few people are confused by Penny's motivation (though I'm sure skipping through the dialogue isn't helping), so here's how the Team Star story unfolds. A year and a half before we start our adventure, there was a very serious bullying problem at Naranja/Uva Academy, and the teachers were neglecting the issue. Penny, who was a noteworthy victim of this bullying due to her small stature and status as a nerd, decided to take action by uniting all the victims to declare war on the bullies. Using the Cassiopeia persona because she's too socially anxious to reach out directly, she formed Team Star and appointed five captains from other noteworthy bullying victims: Mela, who was bullied for her aggressive attitude, Atticus for his obsession with ninja culture and archaic dialects, Giacomo for being too much of a stickler with creating and enforcing rules as the Student Council President, Ortega for being a spoiled rich kid who was also tiny, and Eri for being too kind and easy to take advantage of. With enough members to the team, they began Operation Star, in which everyone prepares for a large-scale battle against the bullies, this being the focus of the flash back scenes involving each captain. Giacomo came up with the code and mixed the music, Atticus designed the uniforms, Eri trained everybody for battle and nursed anybody who was injured, Ortega engineered the Starmobiles, and Mela provided fuel for the Starmobiles, all while creating a close bond and unbreakable friendship in the process, including with their anonymous leader. When all the preparations were in order, Cassiopeia gave the word and the members of Team Star mobilized, declaring their intentions to fight tooth and nail against the bullies. And the grand fight to win back control of their lives in the school... never actually happened. All the bullies were so terrified by their show of strength that most of them simply dropped out one by one. While a resounding victory that meant no violence actually occured, Cassiopeia viewed the turn of events as having gone too far, since the mere declaration to defend themselves has caused more harm than she could have anticipated. So she announced to the team that she would sort things out on her end and advises the group disbands for good, as this would be the last time she ever contacts them. Penny then goes to the then-director and takes complete responsibility for the ordeal, who opts to deport Penny to Galar for the next 18 months and initiates a total cover-up to protect the image of the school. Cutting to the events of Scarlet and Violet, Penny has returned to the Academy and discovered that Team Star had not only stayed together, but their situation has gotten out of hand. They have stopped going to class altogether, instead staying tucked away in their own camps, and have begun harrassing kids at the academy to join them, in a way becoming the very thing they banded together to stop in the first place and making them the bad guys. Because of this, the now-director Clavell is ready to expell each of them from the academy. In a desperate bid to protect them from this, Penny decides the group needs to disband for their own good. Unfortunately, the code that Giacomo wrote and the other captains ratified states that noone in the group, not even the ultimate leader Cassiopeia, is allowed to issue direct commands to anyone else, so she can't just order them to disband, and since they clearly didn't listen when she requested the first time they likely won't when they're in this deep. But since that code also states that defeating the captain means they surrender their rank in the group, and understanding that their faction would promptly disband following this, Penny concocts Operation Starfall. Using the new transfer student who has shown the ability to stand up to Team Star and repurposing her previous identity as Cassiopeia, she has us go to each base and eliminate each of the captains, forcing them to resign their positions and thus disband their factions. Once each member was defeated, she reveals herself as the ultimate leader and has the new kid defeat her and send the footage to the captains to finally confirm that Team Star is no more, so they can just go back to attending classes again. Operation Starfall was meant to only involve the new kid and Penny, but of course, a mysterious student with an aggressive pompadour weaseled his way into being in on the plan, this being Clavell using the Clive persona. One of Clavell's goals as the head of the academy is to understand his students, so he doesn't necessarily want to expell the members of Team Star without understanding why they do what they do and what transpired with them before he was director. So by poorly but somehow convincingly disguising himself as a student, he convinces Cassiopeia to let him in on Operation Starfall, so he can confront the leaders and learn more about them. He learned about their true plans (or lack thereof; he heard rumors they were planning an attack which turned out to be false), why they banded together in the first place, and what became of Operation Star, including hearing the truth of the cover up from the previous director. Being present for the fall of each base, Clavell understands how he should proceed with dealing with Team Star and even ultimately decides to lift the threat of expulsion and allow the members to continue operating together provided they start attending class again and cease their troubling behaviors, recognizing that the Academy and its faculty failed the students by not intervening with the bullies and covering up the issue for the sake of the school. I think this is a pretty good story and a pretty successful take on the punk teams that Pokemon seems to be pushing for now. It doesn't come together perfectly as a narrative and I can understand how even somebody that reads through everything can lose track of the why and how, but I just find the relationships of all the members of Team Star to be adorable and believable; they have a real sense of comradery that other teams in Pokemon are really lacking. Penny and Clavell emerged as my two favorite characters in the game after all was said and done.

Right like. Don’t sit there acting confused about why you’re still friends with penny or disliking Arven when you also admit that you really don’t read the dialogue
How cool could it have been if the gyms scaled, their Pokémon were evolved or not, had different moves, etc depending on when you get there (your teams levels)
That would require effort on gamefreaks part D:
The problem with this is that there is no incentive to train
It irks me when people get mad at how the Team Star storyline turns out after barely reading the dialogue. The whole point is that you'll misunderstand them if you don't listen--Clavell is good for wanting to investigate Team Star before outright expelling them, despite the ill rumors surrounding them.
Regarding Penny's punishment, I think it shows proactivity on Geeta's part, promoting the idea of punishments being primarily beneficial to society over strictly detrimental to the one being punished. Besides, Penny is still a kid, and one with good intentions at that. (And, as chat mentioned, this is sometimes what happens with hackers in real life.)
it’s just really not fun. i like the game, and the gym/titan stories, but tens star just felt so stupid. i read all of the dialogue, it’s just not for me at all. felt really corny

First meeting: they're the bad guys.
Skip all dialogue revealing they arent that bad and are actually good guys
Last meeting: wait I thought they were evil they got no punishment?
That's because this game is absolutely BORING
because the dialogue is cringe 90% of the time. baby story for a baby game. it’s gets tiring hearing 5 people say the same thing, when half of the dialogue already means nothing. just finished arceus recently, god what a slog

Clodsire's water absorb allowed me to decimate the double battle gym with quaquaval's surf.
Definitively being added into my regular team, especially since you can get it from the start, my favorite pokemon is Whiscash, I was able to beat every gym in Sword and Shield with it mostly alone and it's proven to be god considering it swallows a masterball in the anime
They're neither inherently annoying, nor inherently psychotic, nor a mistake (why do NONE of the Lake Guardians have secondary types!? Fun fact, here's a few of the Spanish things that are in the game that is like Ekans in its level of creative naming:
Uva = grape
Naranja = orange (scarlet)
Turo = part of futuro, meaning future
Sada = part of pasada, meaning past (scarlet)
If no one's got Quaquaval yet, it's supposed to be like Carnivale, because hes like one of the dancers, but hes a duck, so quack.

Dudunsparce is amazing and I can't wait for Dudundunsparce
Dudunsparce is stupid as all hell, and that's why its perfect. Dunsparce was designed to be a worthless, weak Pokemon.
They finally gave us the grass/fire type we've all wanted and even based it off a hot pepper like we've all wanted, so why does it look so hideous? Why does it have a generic lizard body?
@@Celestia282 ever since the 3DS imo
