Great demonstration, I last MIG welded Ali 30 plus years ago, when set up you just have to go for it, he who hesitates has a hole! and yes Martin you can pulse to fill but it’s not easy and needs a lot of work to tidy up after. Keep up the good work, All the best Bob
I've never realized just how convenient having the wire speed control on teh spool gun is until I got one with my everlast mig welder. Once you've used one you get spoiled.
you don't mention lung protection, you should be using at least a fume mask. I know of two old welders now dying from a lifetime of breathing in welding fumes. So from a fellow Geordie get that mask on.

It looks like the same type of spool gun I bought for my Everlast mig welder. it is a bit of a beast but it has a good duty cycle.

What strikes me, never having welded alu, is how much faster you need to run compared to mig'ing steel

John, can you manually pulse weld with that spool gun? say you have a joint with a gap to fill. Great videos by the way!

For flux core at work we use a push pull torch motor in the welder pushes motor on the torch pulls
What wire do you use in the spool gun and what gas mix cheers
You have to use pure argon . I used 1 mill wire .

Yes as long as you use the correct gas
Wire speed and voltage is way to high.
How do you rate the R tech gear?
I use Rtech tig. I cannot fault the equipment or the company. They give the best after sales and general service than anyone else.
