I used the Malletech NR19R's with a small strip of moleskin around the middle of the mallet head, and later picked up a Vic Firth M 155 with the same moleskin treatment (right hand) and a Malletech ESHV (left hand). I have since ditched the pink rubber mallets for heavier ones. Those worked well for the recording, but just sound too thin in person.
