  • watch in HD for best audio! Christine visits her late father's grave after being pursued by both the Phantom (whom she has grown to accept) and Raoul (who could be her salvation). She needs some advice and she misses her father, and sings a recitative.
I play directly from the official piano/vocal songbook. although it is not an advanced arrangement, I suppose this will demonstrate what you can expect to get from it.
    == tech stuff ==
    MIDI keyboard: Yamaha Clavinova CLP-930
virtual piano software: Pianoteq 4 Stage
preset: D4 Concert Recording BA with customisation

Listening to this in an entirely different context where Erik is singing about how he misses Christine's singing and presence.

I absolutely cannot believe I’ve never thought of this before! Thank you for this, I’m totally going to rewind this from the beginning and imagine it like this now.

The piano by itself adds more emotion to it. You can really feel all the sadness and heartbreak Christine is feeling.

    Lyrics
    You were once
    My one companion
    You were all
    That mattered
    You were once
    A friend and father
    Then my world
    Was shattered
    Wishing you were
    Somehow here again
    Wishing you were
    Somehow near
    Sometimes it seemed
    If I just dreamed
    Somehow you would
    Be here
    Wishing I could
    Hear your voice again
    Knowing that I
    Never would
    Dreaming of you
    Won't help me to do
    All that you dreamed
    I could
    Passing bells
    And sculpted angels
    Cold and monumental
    Seem for you
    The wrong companions
    You were warm and gentle
    Too many years
    Fighting back tears
    Why can't the past
    Just die?
    Wishing you were
    Somehow here again
    Knowing we must
    Say goodbye
    Try to forgive
    Teach me to live
    Give me the strength
    To try
    No more memories
    No more silent tears
    No more gazing across
    The wasted years
    Help me say
    Goodbye

glad to finally find a cover with good tempo, flow, & emotion. You express the emotion without coming across as showy or flash.

I love this tune, I feel complete sadness in the song, but weirdly it makes me feel alive. When this song plays all my problems seem to go away and it's just a wonderful feeling. Until it ends.

I always cry 😢 while listening because I too think of my parents. They both past away and it is very difficult not to hear their voices again or hug them ever. Only in a dream

Very very beautiful. you did a great job. You really capture the emotion. i'm also currently trying to learn this but adding feeling is a lil hard. also it seems as if we both have the same music sheet.

You did a beautiful job! With this song, I think it's hard to play on an instrument instead of singing because different articulations and it sounds slurred when sung. This is the best version by far!

I heard ALW (Composer) playing Wishing You were Somehow Here Again on piano; it wasn’t so somber maybe he was playing in a different key.

This man has such a touch for piano that he adds such emotion to every press of the key. That is probably why it sounds different.
