  • Chair 6 was installed in 2014, replacing the previous lift known as High Campbell. This older lift was originally installed at Yodelin Ski Bowl, but moved to Crystal Mountain as High Campbell in 1976. After an avalanche in March 2014 completely destroyed the lower half of the lift, High Campbell was forced to be removed and scrapped. Chair 6 is a Skytrac double chair, one of only two in existence, and the only lift to use Skytrac double chairs. The other Skytrac double is Stagecoach at Big Sky, however, the only Skytrac parts of the lift are the terminals and one tower, as the lift's original installation began in 2008, but was completed by Skytrac almost 10 years later after the original resort, Moonlight Basin, went bankrupt. Chair 6 turns 10 years old this year, marking a decade since the avalanche. Chances are, this lift will be around for a long time.
Also featured in this video is the skiing off the summit. As you can see in the video, it is quite risking for the skis, with all the rocks and obstacles along the wind-blown ridge top, and down the ridge.

I guess it's better than nothing, but we're not getting a lot either. I was surprised Chair 6 was even open, but it seems the upper mountain wasn't hit as hard by the snow drought as the lower mountain. Still though, the cover was more on the thin side.

Caw, good trimming required at the offload point, unload too early or too late and things could get messy.

It is certainly one of the tinier unloading ramps I've seen, you've gotta be ready to stand up as soon as you make contact with it. Though, it's really not that bad, since it becomes a lot safer once you're past the unload point.

Yikes, stepping down a slope is not fun. I had to do that at Park City four years ago off Ninety-Nine 90 because I wasn’t that good with double-blacks.

I've skied many extreme double blacks, but I've never had to side-step before. Those rocks were really in the way, that combined with how narrow the run was, I knew I wouldn't be able to send it. That, the fact that there were clear tracks left over from someone else's side stepping down, and that I didn't want to risk my cores led me to just taking it slow.

First of all,, Chair 6 has got to be the same noisest çhair lift I've ever heard of, don't tell me that that's the Electric motor,if so get a new one.I know AC motors don't sound that way and it's not the gear box.1/4 th of the way up I could still hear that high pitch noise, that's pretty bad.Who built that chair.2nd, what's the deal with the tower, heavy side, before you get to the tower you can hear, feel the shives boucing and then the chair (grip) bouces pretty bad on top of the shives, all the other shives, towers are fine.
