    This just popped up in my recommended, I went through the college process, got very lucky with offers from certain schools, and my biggest advice is don't bother going to ID camps if you have never spoken to that coach or school before. The best way to get a real chance to go to a school if you are an American kid at a normal high school and not an academy is to make sure you're on a team that goes to as many college showcases as possible and then before you go to said showcases, email every coach with a personable letter saying why you would want to attend that school and play soccer for them along with your schedule for the showcase. Then you just have to ball out and hope that some of the coaches you emailed came. ID camps are generally fundraisers, and I was disrespected at 4 or 5 before I realized the coaches and staff didn't care about who was good and who wasn't. Maybe I'm wrong, but most people I speak to had very similar experiences.

    I've never played highschool soccer, but I am really trying because it's always been a dream. I have a 3-day soccer camp at my dream college, and I'm going to take into account what you say here and try to apply it there, because without the experience I'm sure the other players will have, standing out at a soccer camp will be my time to show my ambition, dedication and passion for the game.

      @@JossuLP If your asking me to update you after I go there, I will if you want. I'm going in with no experience, it'll be this summer before my senior year in highschool (July 17th-19th) and trying to get on my dream college's radar or at least get experience before I try out for a public school soccer team. My main position will be a goal keeper with a secondary as a center back defender.

    • @ldy.midnight
      @ldy.midnight 11 месяцев назад

      @@JossuLP Your best bet is to try to go to a few soccer or ID camps and have them train you. (The longer the camp is the better) then I would say try out for the college team if they have one. If you don't get on see if they have an imperial team. Try to get onto that, work hard and after maybe a year try to go for the professional college again.

    Hey everyone here’s some advice, since some of you are looking in these comments. Make sure you sleep and eat well before, prep is going to make your play better. Show up with confidence to Id camps. In addition, before attending send personal emails or text messages to the coaches. In that personal letter you should ask about positions and spots they have to see if it’s even worth it.

      Could be an ID camp. Were you individually invited or your team? If you were individually invited, I would treat it like a tryout. Try your best to stand out and be social with the coaches. Ask them questions about what they're looking for in players or what their recruiting period is like. The more info you have the better you will be in the future. Best of luck!

    • @jordonsoccertraining
      @jordonsoccertraining  4 года назад +1

      Hey Daniel, honestly, it depends. Depends on where the ID Camp is, what JUCO it is, and where the D1 school is. You may get some info by reaching out to the organizer and asking if any schools, coaches or scouts will be attending. Another tip would always ask if you can receive the film or how you can get access to your highlights. Best of luck!

    What would you say are big fonts for goalkeepers at Id camps?

    • @jordonsoccertraining
      @jordonsoccertraining  3 года назад +6

      Biggest things for a GK at camps ----- I would say, apart from the obvious handling of the ball but a lot of teams are looking for a 'modern' keeper. Being comfortable with your feet and having really good distribution out of the back. Additionally, being vocal and commanding your back line will show confidence and leadership. Just don't overcomplicate your job as a 1. Be smart, play simple and have a clean sheet 👍

      Not sure how that relates to US soccer but my point was about not being totally by yourself. If you're there at an ID camp means you didn't get noticed during regular season, so it's in your best interest to be as social as possible because Coaches are looking to see who best fits their program (abilities and personality).
