- I know In the beginning of the video I say 2010 but this is a 2013 model I made a mistake. This is my 2013 Oshkosh Concrete Mixer. I made a video on the in-cab controls because I’ve never seen one on RUclips before, and somebody somewhere may be curious
I drive a rear loader and they just got a front loader and put me in one and I fell in love with it. I also run dry bulk cement tanker for the plants when we are not that busy. Both fronts and rears have there advantages I like how I can just pull in and mix and do everything from the cab.
Here in Texas they pour concrete around 6-8” slump and they even pour highways at a 5-6”
Great video! I drive a rear discharge mixer in Austin, TX. I've always wandered what the controls were inside a front discharge. Thanks. 🤘🤘
I drive a rear discharge and watching this made me feel like a damn cave man having to get out and add water, hang my chutes it’s ridiculous even our slump meter is on the outside of the truck!!!
I drive a 2015 with bullshit regen system
Just got hired... This vid was a great help.....it gave me an advantage.. Thank you
What’s the engine and transmission? Can you please do a super long driving video without the drum rotating? Please make sure to get plenty of runs through all the gears. Please let me know ASAP.
GarbageSean I don’t drive mixer anymore I drive dump truck now. But they have ISM Cummins as a motor and 6 speed Allison Automatic Transmissions. You can’t drive period end of story either the drum stopped. It will kill the rollers
Alex Q can you do a long driving video on the dump truck? I want to see and hear it out on the road. Please let me know ASAP.
Good video thanks for sharing
I drive a rear discharge mixer and honestly I think a front discharge mixer is better I think!
It certainly is better, alot of fun.
Thank you for this video it was very helpful. When you went over the automatic transmission at 6:12 I noticed you pointed out the up and down arrows for gear selection but not the mode button, do you know what that does? Also if you do choose to make a gear selection using the arrows how do you go back to regular automatic drive? Thank you
Thats what the mode button is for... full auto or you can select your gear
I was curious the difference. I drive a 2012 Terex mixer and the interior of yours looks so much more comfortable for the driver to operate. Then again my company doesn't actually even want to fix anything wrong with it either lol.
I drove new Oshkosh and I’m on a new Terex and the terex is way nicer
Yeah i hate to be the one to tell you but if you want a real cement truck you get a terex, on an oshkosh the chute movements are too slow and jerky, the turning radius sucks, the brakes are too stiff and have less braking power, the fins are harder to clean, the cat walk is annoying when you are trying to clean the fins, hopper, and other parts up there is annoying as well. The only thing i can say is the oshkosh cloth seat and seat mechanism is better but thats about it.
@@keurylara5948 Cool, you know this is a 2 yr old comment right? I don't even drive a front anymore. lol But I have heard differently and most companies around me run Oshkosh or Terex. It seems to come down to preference what I can tell honestly.
Is this bonded concrete out of PV ny?
INTARGET 13 no, Century out of Canaan CT. It’s the non-union side of Bonded. All owned by the same company technically
Alex Q yeah I’m local to the pv area and have seen many of the orange and blue bonded trucks
No radio for music? That's disappointing.
i noticed theres a fan in there... no A/C ??
No sir. Only one truck in that yard had A/C when I worked there. They have a few brand new trucks from what I understand now i assume they all have A/C now
@@AQLandscaping thanks man! I was just about to apply to a front loader mixer job down in Alabama, I assumed the trucks had A/C but now I'm not going to! Screw that! thanks again
Very informative thank you!
Why you need slump indicator 😂
Nice video. Thankyou
Must be in low gear to put hopper up
I wanna get into that give me tips
Do front discharges have outside controls too? Or is everything in cab? I’ve only driven a rear
I only know Oshkosh because thats all i drove in my time of driving mixers, but all Oshkosh had outside controls to move the chutes up down left right and fold, and only some of them came with outside controls to charge, discharge, and rev the engine. Mine did have that, only ever used it i think twice in my whole career.
the faces on these guys are adorable
welcome back loser
You read yours just about the same. I just left my company i was at for about year and 3 months. Loved the job and the pay but they wouldn't fixed the equipment. They would put me in another shit truck everytime.
Robert Baker yeah I left this job after exactly a year of being there. Drove triaxle for a number of months and now I’m in my true career
@@AQLandscaping what's the true career
Good video, I was always curious about operating one of these . Is a Tanker endorsement needed ?
Not for ready mix trucks. I was watching this cause I've only ran rear discharge mixers
Your slump meter reads backwards. Lower the number lower the slump.
I wish you would quit coughing so loud after every sentence
Shame isn’t it
😊 great video..
