My understanding is that the Heaven's Gate cult why is it waiting for that comment to pass Earth, but that woman that helped found it named Bonnie passed away years before the comet passed Earth. This should've been a red flag to the cult remembers because since she died before the comet passed, then she wouldn't have ascended to heaven.
