I ordered a new Heil PSE Icom headset, from Giga Parts, it arrived, i can not get the microphone to work... headphones sound great... but no mic output.... giga parts state they will NOT except any returns on Heil headsets.... what can i do?

Hello. I bought Heil Pro 7 headphones. I have a question, on the left earphone there is a step potentiometer for sound balance, right and left. Should this sound signal balance evenly transmit sound to both the left and right sides in the middle position? . In my headphones, on the left side, it is silent until I turn the potentiometer to the maximum, extreme position, i.e. until the end. Only then does the trx a sound appear and be heard. Shouldn't the sound balance transfer the signal equally to the right and left sides in the middle position of this potentiometer? Just like in stereo headphones, right and left channels.?
