Great looking King Ranch F-150.... just FYI it's not a "W" it's actually a running snake symbol. The backbone signature of the King Ranch. Coming from a local TEXAS guy. You're welcome and great review.
Not really my friend. Is not a snake. He make a tool with a piece of iron bends it is the best way he can do and used for burn the skin of his cattle 🐄 and put a brand mark to his pretty. read the history of the Ranch and you find out the truth about his Logo.
Coming from a guy that worked at the King Ranch, our propaganda was to have it called the "Running W", the snake theory is pretty strong, but not doctrine. Also, don't buy this shit show that is the only thing keeping King Ranch above water.
No shit I never would've guessed that! I'm from Maine and the King Ranch has always been a goal of mine to attain. Best looking trucks ever made in my opinion!
My brother "boasted" the fact that on the Navy ship, he served on, he had a friend who owned the ranch next to the largest ranch, the King Ranch, in Texas. I laughed, and told him he thought that meant his friend owned the 2nd largest ranch in Texas, I explained to him that instead his friend probably just owned the piece of property next to the King Ranch - you know, just on the other side of the fence. It probably was just a "10 acre and a mule" strip. But hey! he owned the ranch NEXT to the largest ranch in Texas! ;-)
I've always loved the King Ranch trim because of its interior and exterior color options. That bronze/burnt orange color has always been my favorite on the F-Series, especially with the leather seats.
My Dad has a 2012 F150 King Ranch, with 4x4 and the 5.0 V8 engine. When he bought it the ecoboost had just been released and he didn't want to take a chance on it. I didn't think they could outdo themselves but they clearly did. I'm a Chevy guy but I'm very impressed with the F150. He uses it for his business so he's already at 170,000 miles, the only problem being a sensor in the 4wd system. That's it, not a single other problem, just add gas, and change the oil and tires and he's all set. It still drives good and is still tight overall. He's going to try to hit 300,000 miles with it as it's already depreciated because of the mileage.
Absolutely agree with you on the King Ranch trim level. Feels a lot more superior to Platinum trim. I own a Platinum, and I drove a King Ranch. I really want a King Ranch now.
The W is a brand called Running W, it is used to brand cattle. It's a mystery to an extent on how it originated. Most say it's the sweeping horns of a long horned bull. Or to represent many rattlesnakes on the ranch. On any note it's the signature brand at King Ranch in Texas and has been used since the late 1800's.
I would totally agree with you. The King Ranch is the best type of f150 that you could buy. It probably wouldn't be cheap, but you get a lot of cool features with this truck!
Been a dodge guy my whole life and own a second gen ram, but I also have a 2008 king ranch super crew that just feels nice to sit inside and take long trips in. The interior, beautiful, personally, it looks better than the newer king ranch trucks interior.
A 2007; it’s the real saddle leather they use in the older ones, don’t know what year they stopped using it but they made a big mistake. In my opinion the saddle leather is what made the King Ranch so special and look so good. God Bless Texas 🤙🏼🤠
All your videos are great. You have helped decide on Ford F-150. I was looking at an XTL but your videos have pushed me towards they higher trim levels mainly for wife. Thanks
I have had several ford trucks and now have the 2015 King Ranch 4X4 5.0 and is the best one I have ever had. Fast and nimble. Hopefully will enjoy it for many years.
I saw one of these babies in person last weekend. the panoramic moonroof is truly awesome for a pickup... wheels look like a luxury car, too. adds such a premium feel to a nice and quiet truck
I was a finance director for Ford in the Boston area and I drove a lot of F-150's as demos and I 100% agree. King ranch is the best trim outside of the Raptor of course which you mentioned...very good review
Nice review. I have a 2012 F150 King Ranch ecoboost with 3.73 gears and off-road package. Just turned 100k miles on it. I love this truck and plan on getting a 2018 King Ranch with the new ecoboost. I lived in Kingsville, home of the King Ranch for a number of years. It is called a "Running W", not a "W", and definitely not a snake. It was the cattle brand adopted by the ranch, because it could not be turned into another brand on the cattle by rustlers, A lot of other brands could be "modified" by rustlers and the cattle sold, but the "Running W" could not be modified or altered to look like another brand. Thus the unique brand.
I'm not crazy about the exterior color but man that truck is sweet. My favorite truck is still the Lariet Limited from 2011 with a 6.2L. I know it's a gas hog. Once I test drove one, I fell in love with everything but the price tag. If I could have gotten a better price, it would be in my driveway today. I have a 2013 4x4 Ext Cab XLT 5.0L that has been a great truck. My truck now has 116,365 miles and it's going strong. I did replace a clunky steering shaft and a binding drivers side caliper, but I am a mechanic and it was no trouble at all. Trucks in my opinion have become too luxurious. I love having nice vehicles but not at these crazy prices. Do I need a truck that has more features than a luxury car? I need a truck to haul my boat, firewood, gravel, appliances, or anything for that matter. If I spent 70,000 on a truck, I wouldn't want to do anything with it that a truck is meant to do.
This trim level of F150 is not for everyone and I would put myself in that category. I`m not a fan of the two tone exterior and the brown interior. I would agree that it looks like a cowboy theme that would appeal to a F150 buyer who`s in his or her late 50`s - early 60`s.
If you're not a fan of the two tone, you can get a monochromatic paint option, but then again that would kinda take away from the whole idea of the King Ranch.
CDP CDP i couldn't agree with u more, i prefer an all black leather interior and single color exterior. but I've seen 1 in person right next to a 2016 sierra denali, i couldn't choose which one i liked, but i almost liked the king ranch more. just to clarify, it wasnt at a dealer, i wish i could afford either 1 right now. any ways i thought to myself, " to be able to choose between them, i would have to test drive them both on the same day. " the leather in the king ranch is better quality than the platinum and limited. i am not a fan of all that brushed aluminum trim in the interior, i would like that the big 3 put woodgrain, even fake woodgrain trims, but thin and not too much in your face, kinda like the 2001-06 yukon denali. the big 3 have to bring it up a few notches on interior, they all have that cheap hard plastic that breaks in a few years, i hate that because the trucks are 60 to 70 thousand dollars. i think they should stop adding so much technology which is part of the reason they're so expensive. the best interior right now is in the chevy high country, but again, i dont like that its also like a brownish, redish color. sorry this turned into a rant.
The King Ranch trim definitely is it's own taste, you either like it or you don't. Personally just not a fan of the tone of the interior. I Could handle the exterior, but the interior just kills it for me. I Do love the Lariat-Limited styles aside from the moon-roofs/automatic running boards, though.
+Dom_112202 Sorry to disappoint you, but you're incorrect. I worked for rich logistics who hauls for both ford and gm/chevy. rich logistics brings ford engines, frames and components from Mexico to the USA thru Laredo,TX.
From a purely emotional perspective, the King Ranch has the nicest interior, hands down. I used to park vehicles for 40 hours a week and I always enjoyed some King Ranch time. It's like the S-Class of pickup interiors.
Always liked the KR over the Platinum too, especially that mocha leather interior. I think one of the best exterior colors on the KR is the White Platinum, with lower accent color. So do I upgrade to a KR or keep running my 05 V8 Lariat 4X4...
Yeah for some reason ive always been drawn to King Ranch myself, it jst has the combination of everything I like in a modern truck! Something about these are intoxicating for the truck lover!!
I prefer the Platinum, but I do like the King Ranch, too. KR is probably more stylish, but perhaps a little more than I prefer for me. Either are good looking trucks. Thanks for the vid.
Great video. I've owned a 2000 GMC Sierra for almost 16 years now, and I'm afraid it's starting to need more maintenance than I'd like. I HATE to even consider anything else, but this video gave me some things to think about. Thank you. As for the reason for the W - "The Running W brand was first registered in 1869. Some have said that it represents one of the ranch’s many diamondback rattlesnakes or the Santa Gertrudis Creek, while others are sure it signifies the sweeping horns of a Texas Longhorn bull. The Running W could also be interpreted as a section of a continuing wave pattern - signifying the uniting of the past with the present and suggesting continuity into the future. Regardless of its meaning, the Running W brand is handsome and practical, designed to heal quickly, thwart rustlers, and grow with the animal that bears it - just as it has evolved with King Ranch through the generations. When my Sierra finally gives out on me, I'll likely be giving you a call (you're the only dealer I know who is on-the-level and clearly passionate about trucks). Thanks.
I live about 45 minutes away from king ranch. This is straight from their website. The Running W brand was first registered in 1869. Some have said that it represents one of the ranch’s many diamondback rattlesnakes or the Santa Gertrudis Creek, while others are sure it signifies the sweeping horns of a Texas Longhorn bull.
My boss has a 2016 Ram Laramie, basically fully loaded. And the interior is... well its shit lol. It doesn't even compare to my mid level 2012 FX4, let alone these new King Ranch / Limited trucks.
Hey AutoVlog. I have watched a lot of your videos as I just recently leased a 2017 Ford F-150. I got the XLT version with the special edition package and sport appearance package. I love my truck but there are a few features that I wished that I had gotten. Such as the tailgate step. I am using a step stool now and it is a real pain in the butt to get into the bed. I also wish that I got sync connect. But other than that I love my interior the best. With the red and the black it really pops. I also like cloth better than leather because it's too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter with leather. Anyway. Those are my thoughts. I love your videos. Keep up the good work.
King ranch is much nicer trim than the platinum. Currently own a 15 f150 king ranch and previously a 12 king ranch f150. The difference between the two is not even comparable, although the 12 was a fine truck. As mentioned all these new trucks no matter what make are expensive and both luxurious for a pickup truck, so we just keep on buying them. As for as the eco vs the v8,I'll stay with the eco. Also really like your detailed reviews.
AuotVlog this is from their website. You know, that's a good question. At the moment, I'd say the XL is my favorite trim. Why? Well, it may not have as many features, but you still get the same amount of truck for a lot less money. It's all about utility, and you get a lot of it for the price. When I get out of college, I'm already thinking of a nice XL Sports Appearance Package with the 2.7. Without concern for money, the FX4 has always been my favorite trim (since the 11th gen), but we all know the FX4 is no more. Thus, the Lariat, since it is to luxury as the FX4 was to offroad. I also find the Lariat similar to the King Ranch, but it's more customize-able (I prefer the 6.5 ft bed to the 5.5 ft). But don't get me wrong, I love the look of the King Ranch. With no concern for money, I'd love to drive one.
Beautiful truck... Just bought a 2009 f150 fx4 Texas edition and my head spinning because i didn't know where the 20inch chrome came from.... 😍Now i know. 👌 Explains why i get more looks 👀than expected
The land yacht is not dead. It just gained a bed and sits higher now. :-) I do miss being able to purchase a basic single cab with rollup windows and a stick shift.

It's not a W it's a crown...hence King Ranch. 150 years ago they had to create a brand for their cattle, probably by hand and that is the best they could come up with. Love the truck and will be picking up my second one this week!
the best truck is the 2017 f 150 limited with the 2nd generation 3.5 l eco boost which what I have ... overall best truck. king ranch is western cowboy look .. limited has the luxury feeling u wouldn't know unless u own 1 limited which I do .

From the Bullock Museum, Austin TX, website: "Many Texas ranches that began in the late 19th century are still in business. Many of the ranches and their brands have become legendary. This is the branding iron of the King Ranch, located near present-day Kingsville. The enormous ranch was founded in 1852 by Richard King and Gideon K. Lewis, and covered land in Nueces, Kenedy, Kleberg, and Willacy counties. On February 9, 1869, the "Running W" was registered as the official brand of King Ranch. "
Chato Perez I live in Canada, where they would freeze up in the winter. It's just one more thing that can break, and I think that regular running boards work just fine. We've been using the, for decades.
Mason Langosch they also can catch what your mud flaps don't catch. Really, the power running boards remove a bit of functionality for more money, and I think it looks weird to have to running boards on a truck.
The Brunello on the platinum looks just as good, if not better. The platinum emblem on the seats isn't tacky looking like the king ranch's. The grill on the king ranch is inferior to the platinum's and frankly, so are the chrome wheels. In general, the king ranch is an old-gen chromed out f150 when the brushed aluminum all around the platinum looks higher quality. Some guys like chrome, but it's really played out and cheap looking tbh. The platinum isn't more expensive because it is lesser, lol. We are admittedly splitting hairs, as they are very similar trim levels, but at the end of the day the platinum is the higher end trim. Model: 2017 Ford F-150 MSRP: From $51,080 Model: 2017 Ford F-150 MSRP: From $53,635
What's your opinion of the King Ranch Expedition? And do you have any experience with the EcoBoost in it while towing a camper? The 2018 model may be my next vehicle.
AutoVlog, bc my father just realized how much longer is his truck is. He doesn't like his truck @ all now!?? For my education, bc I am going 2 get an f-150. What packages show I be aware of with the XLT or the Lariat? Oh and thank you, I went back and saw the video again. Twentys are the size tires I want!
I thought the big four door was called Super Crew. I saved a lot of money by buying the little four door F 250 XLT. However, I realize they are different animals and this was years ago.
Great looking King Ranch F-150.... just FYI it's not a "W" it's actually a running snake symbol. The backbone signature of the King Ranch. Coming from a local TEXAS guy. You're welcome and great review.
👍🏻👍🏻
I work on the King Ranch here in Texas, the history behind the ranch and the partnership between ford and the ranch is pretty awesome.
Not really if you sat in on the retail side, where they hid their partnership.
kubist retail sucks ass in every store
I love that truck! King Ranch is the Best in my book. I will get this truck in 2020 when its cheap enough for me to purchase.
👍🏻👍🏻
XCALI3UR ya me too he'll that's probably 50 thousand or more wait till it's around 30 or lease one
Ryan Belden hell naw 30 thousand is still expensive but might be considerate for one with low miles
XCALI3UR good idea. I like the 2011 model more.. But if the new design is more Your style, 2020 is a great goal
You cannot afford a 50k vehicle? That's fucking pathetic.
its nice that you actually threw in the facts about the King Ranch!! good friends with some people on that ranch!
👍🏻👍🏻
My brother "boasted" the fact that on the Navy ship, he served on, he had a friend who owned the ranch next to the largest ranch, the King Ranch, in Texas. Really glad to see that you like the King Ranch best, it's always been my favorite no matter what fancier models Ford has started to offer
My family has a 2014 Ford F-150 XLT but it's the most basic version with cloth seats and such, still a great truck.
biggranny000 sometimes the simple trucks are better...
It all comes down to what everyone needs.
isnt xl the most basic
xl is but xlt isn't much more for price
I've always loved the King Ranch trim because of its interior and exterior color options. That bronze/burnt orange color has always been my favorite on the F-Series, especially with the leather seats.
I bought a king ranch f150, wrapped 100% black, tinted the windows, and put a small lift on it and I think it is the best looking truck I have seen.
Watching this 6 years later and still I must admit that king ranch is my favourite, nothing beats that interior
Completely agree, the interior of the Platinum and Limited are dull and boring. The styling of the King Ranch in and out is certainly the most lively!
Philip Champlain The only thing I saw different was the stitching and badging
Voltaic same!
Philip Champlain plus the suspension on a platinum is softer than it usually is its not as good for pulling a load
Philip Champlain idk my platinum looks good. I don't like the extra business with the logos. I have brown leather and black piping around the seats.
ehh, I don't think that is true, at least for current generation. just interior and cosmetic differences, packaging etc.etc.

The Running W brand was first registered in 1869. Some have said that it represents one of the ranch’s many diamondback rattlesnakes or the Santa Gertrudis Creek, while others are sure it signifies the sweeping horns of a Texas Longhorn bull.
This new pickup trucks are so luxurious, the ram especially.
FRANK JUAREZ SRT Chrysler interiors are junk. They're all the same
stevendayt97 newest interiors are nice but yeah my 10' jeep srt interior is pretty basic, but i love my HEMI 6.1 :D
FRANK JUAREZ SRT They are and dodge has always been the leader in a good looking truck. Hands down they can make and design a nice truck.
My boss has a 2016 Ram Laramie, basically fully loaded. And the interior is... well its shit lol. It doesn't even compare to my mid level 2012 FX4, let alone these new King Ranch / Limited trucks.
Laramie is not the top package :D
my family has a 2009 ford f - 250 King Ranch and they love it!
Agree the brown interior just has that extra something special. There are a million boring gray interiors, and lighter tans show wear/stains badly.
Man that's a sweet ride. I'm not a big truck fan but now I really want one of these. Can't decide between this or the Raptor.
The King Ranch W was inspired by a rattle snake. That's why the "w" is kinda curvy like. I read that on Fords website years ago.
funny how you touch the head rest like someone face lol
lol
He's definitely in love with this truck. Who wouldn't be?
it felt like i was watching a porn video for a second
r3fr33z39780 lol I noticed it. 😂
That's What I Thought Too 🤣🤣🤣
King ranch is much nicer trim than the platinum.
I have always thought the W was actually a crown emblem for the King Ranch brand at the actual ranch. Love this trim!
I agree king ranch is my favorite
I agree with you. my favorite is the King Ranch.
I love that tailgate!! Those features should come on all trucks!!😎
The body color of the truck actually goes well with the "caribou brown" trim at the bottom in my opinion.
Like that one too Colour is nice on it !! I agree with U 100%
I like the XL and XLT trim the most
AuotVlog this is from their website. Some have said that it represents one of the ranch’s many diamondback rattlesnakes or the Santa Gertrudis Creek, while others are sure it signifies the sweeping horns of a Texas Longhorn bull. The Running W could also be interpreted as a section of a continuing wave pattern - signifying the uniting of the past with the present and suggesting continuity into the future.
my favorite trim level of the F-150 is either the Limited or the Lariat
King ranch is one the greats when it comes to an f150
I'm a Lariat man. Good video!
can you do a video on the ford F150 trailer back up feature and what it does and what it is like to use.
My favorite is also the king ranch! I'm looking to buy one real soon. Can't wait.
I was born and reared in Texas close to the King Ranch. Their brand is "W"; or actually the running W. I'm holding off for the 2018 Ford Expedition.
Do you think automatic opening and closing hoods will ever be a thing?
I wouldn't be surprised lol
I don't know why it hasn't been a thing since the first auto open trunks.
chevs are more likely to get them because of all the repair work they need
I usually don't care for the new fords but I like this interior. But I prefer the ram long horn interior more, great review though
Good video.. I agree that this kr is more atractive stylished than the platinum.. I like it better
Beautiful truck. Interior is 2nd to none !!
I always wondered why they chose the letter W? Turns out it's not a W lol.
I always though it was like the things horses use to pull wagons or something?? Probably wrong though lol

Today the Running W appears on both prize-winning cattle and top quality leather goods as an indisputable icon of the American
It's not a W it's a crown...hence King Ranch. 150 years ago they had to create a brand for their cattle, probably by hand and that is the best they could come up with. Love the truck and will be picking up my second one this week!
Like the platinum seats to. The king Ranch looks nice to.🙂👊
TEXAS represent! King Ranch is definitely my top favorite trim (other than the Raptor of course)
Great video - nice truck but sorry I'm not a "cowboy" or ranch hand so the styling is lost on me. The Platinum is more my style....
KR rules!!! very popular with nfl players, lineman and qb's too! Like the lighter color leather and the 5.0
Beautiful truck inside and out!!!
lovely truck, its a shame we don't get them here in Australia..Great video keep it up..
Leo Esposito how's that ranger? :(
The w that you are seeing is actually not a w it's the way a snake moves through the sand and they took that and made it there logo
F150's in my opinion are the classiest trucks on the market.
As far as so know the W brand meaning is unknown. Some think it may resemble a winding snake, the winding Santa Gertrudis creek or a longhorns horns.
Great as usual,I love F-150 Limited,👍
I love my 2017 F250 King Ranch.
Bad Karma is a a 6.7
the best truck is the 2017 f 150 limited with the 2nd generation 3.5 l eco boost which what I have ... overall best truck. king ranch is western cowboy look .. limited has the luxury feeling u wouldn't know unless u own 1 limited which I do .
BKproduction1906 wrong platinum 350🤓

Beautiful truck I have a 2005 king ranch and this will be my next truck soon or a 2018 with the same color combo
From the Bullock Museum, Austin TX, website:
"Many Texas ranches that began in the late 19th century are still in business. "
I would get a truck with all the same options except I would get a V8 engine, no moonroof, and no power running boards.
And it would be red.
Graham Clarence why no power running boards
Chato Perez I live in Canada, where they would freeze up in the winter. It's just one more thing that can break, and I think that regular running boards work just fine. We've been using the, for decades.
Have to agree! Personally felt a little give in the automatic running boards over the normal ones.
Mason Langosch they also can catch what your mud flaps don't catch. Really, the power running boards remove a bit of functionality for more money, and I think it looks weird to have to running boards on a truck.
awesome truck, i would prefer the silverado high country though. i can not stand that chrome on the tailgate, is it removable?
Enjoyed your pov & have always really liked this peteculiar truck man, im glad you do too
The Brunello on the platinum looks just as good, if not better.
Model: 2017 Ford F-150
MSRP: From $51,080
Model: 2017 Ford F-150
MSRP: From $53,635
What's your opinion of the King Ranch Expedition? And do you have any experience with the EcoBoost in it while towing a camper? The 2018 model may be my next vehicle.
20 years newer than the one i have now is a great trim for me!!
AutoVlog, bc my father just realized how much longer is his truck is. He doesn't like his truck @ all now!?? For my education, bc I am going 2 get an f-150. What packages show I be aware of with the XLT or the Lariat? Oh and thank you, I went back and saw the video again. Twentys are the size tires I want!
as a Ford guy it's a really nice truck I still love my Lariat
I thought the big four door was called Super Crew. I saved a lot of money by buying the little four door F 250 XLT. However, I realize they are different animals and this was years ago.
I like those dark brown seats. Hate how the newer models went to an orange leather
