- Sharon Preston-Folta author of "Little Satchmo Living in the Shadow of my Father Louis Daniel Armstrong" was finally able to have a long overdue conversation with her mother, Lucille Sweets Preston about her dad, Louis Armstrong and some of her favorite memories of him.
I am glad to hear that Louis had a child because it would have been a shame if he didn't. I read that Ricky Riccardi and the Louis Armstrong House Museum do not acknowledge Sharon and her mother and their story which must be painful for them because they were apart of Louis' life as well as those Louis knew publicly.
What a sweet lady.
She loved him, his daughter loved him...I loved him and BILLIONS more: he was simply the G.O.A.T....
4 wives...but the mistress has his love child!!
Something to say about the universe.❤️
That's very odd. Something about that math ain't mathin!
Cool to hear Louis smiled like that in his private life as well as his public!
Wow what a beautiful Story!!
Wow nice the great Louis Armstrong lives on
Such a sweet interview
God bless her heart. What history she has.
She looks so much like her father! Her mother is so sweet!
🙏🏽😊❤️
Thank you for this lovely interview.
Athos Bousvaros yes Mrs Sharon thanks!
Ms. Lucille has the sweetest loveliest smile. 🌹
Ooooh wish I could see the "Slimming Sweets" in action! What an interesting part of history, Satch lived quite a life! Glad no one gives his daughter or mistress a hard time, just let them live.
Beautiful… Just beautiful. Thank you ladies for your time in doing this. God bless.
Gosh this is moving; somehow I hadn't seen this before even though I know the story.
Thankyou for this. Your mother is a sweet charm.
God bless all of you! Louis The Great.
She should not have been sleeping with a married man. Where is the remorse for disrespecting his wife as he did too? Having said that the mother has a sweetness and appreciation which is refreshing. Thanks for sharing.
I agree. That's the part I don't like. Why is everyone skipping over that fact?
@@trawlins396 She's Not Alone... No one
Can Say A Word, He Was Married She
Wasn't! It's Funny How Other Women Always Blame The Young Women Whom
Believed Him. But, We Know They NEVER LEAVE THEIR WIFE'S! Rgt.
Women STILL DATE MARRIED MEN
THEY NOW-A-DAYS DON'T CARE IF
THEY LEAVE THEM OR NOT...
@@cindysalter1665 oh please. They were BOTH wrong. Funny how women NEVER want to hold another woman accountable for ANYTHING. He was wrong and she was just as wrong.
He wasn't a Goat he was a God!!
I'M GLAD THAT PEOPLE Allowed Them
TO LIVE, Without Being Judgemental... I WISH SOMEONE (WOULD'VE) ASK ME WHY I HAD A CHILD OUT OF WEDLOCK! He was, A MARRIED MAN... She was, A WIDOW... (END OF STORY)!!! PLS. Allow THAT MAN, HIS LIFE & HIS Daughter (Little-Satchmo)... REST IN PEACE! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I'm happy that this weight has been lifted off of her shoulders. She is innocent. I believe some financial provision from his estate should be made for her
Armstrong was lucky that Sharon's mom never went to the press about it. Many women would have done so especially after he told her he'd never marry her.
I hate that she wasted those years waiting for him to marry her even after it was obvious that he had no plans to do so.
His daughter does resemble him.
IF she IS his daughter, then she is due a LOT of money from his estate.......
He claimed her as his daughter, so even if his blood doesn't run through her veins, she still deserves money from his estate.
@@rachybaby72 I agree.......
@@martintanksley3561 👍🏾
@@martintanksley3561 she would have to sue but the problem is she'll get no money without proof. No paternity test on record.
@@trawlins396 they can do a dna test with a surviving family member
Had there been a blood test with living relatives?
Is his name Louis or Lewis? Because it changes from one interview to another. In another interview she refers to him with the French form of the name, and so do other interviewers. When he is called Louis, he never says "Please call me Lewis"
White fans called him " Lewis or Louie" but he referred to himself as " Louis or Lewis."
@@wfs4227 oh please Lil called him Louie in the 20s; he went by both.
I though she was his daughter... Why does she have a different name?
My mother was a widow and was married to Luther 'Slim' Preston. She gave me her married name.
He was messing around with her
@@sharonfolta5010 What an honor to be speaking with the GREAT LOUIS ARMSTRONG'S daughter.I am a big Louis "Satchmo/Pops"Armstrong fan.His personality and let's not forget his Talent is what made him still a conversation piece to this day.I watched a video on the David Frost show(Bing Crosby was a guest),and your father sung a song "The Boy from New Orleans",he stated he was born on July 4th 1900,even though for years people have said August 4.I would like to think that THE JAZZ AMBASSADOR,was born on July 4th,because that's my birthday.Lol.Makes me feel special,ya know.Anyway,Bless you and your mother.Always feel honored and always talk about your father. He is so deservant of all the praises.I send this message with total Love and happiness.I feel I have had a part of Satchmo through you and I am smiling ear to ear.Stay proud and let's keep your fathers legacy going on ,so people will know, that when he performed....THAT WAS CALLED REAL MUSIC.Take care and God Bless,it has been an honor. And for the individuals...its spelled LOUIS AND HAS NEVER BEEN SPELLED,ATLEAST BY SATCHMO ,AS LEWIS.JUST SAYING
I hope you got your rightful claim. Have you seen PATERNITY COURT here on YT? Descendants of one of the chi•lites jus got found. And stands to inherit millions.
@@sharonfolta5010 You look just ljke him I definately see Satchmo. Your mom is so sweet.
It's incredibly unrealistic to say she's his ONLY child. She has no way of knowing that. Musicians back then traveled a LOT and were with many women. If he had one secret child I'd bet he has more.
There are more in Europe.may be dead now
