Bought mine new, never loaded the d batteries into it. I had it in storage from 1998 to 2024, in the original box. If I recalll, the display light did fail. Looking forward to firing it up.
Funny enough, I actually lubricate very rarely for some reason. :-). I use a silicone grease that is plastic safe without mineral oils, which can mess up some of the plastics and gears. In this case it's Black Swan. But as noted, even that I apply very sparingly and only when absolutely necessary. A sliver with a toothpick as in my mind it is a potential dirt magnet.
It's a beautiful unit and worth the effort to repair. I'm working on methods to repair the displays reliably and will share if I come across something good. In the mean time DO NOT THROW THESE OUT!
Beautiful, and the Display is still perfect with no missing segments. hard to find one now with a perfect display
Oh man this was the best sounding boom box around & boi was it heavy when loaded with batteries

Hello. Thanks for posting your PC-55 videos. Do you know how what type of oil I should use to lubricate the moving parts in the cassette deck area?

This rare boombox took a lot of time and effort to restore, and I'm not thinking of parting with it right now. Thank you for interest.
