    In the midst of a miserably wet and dull winter in the UK, this was a lovely video to watch, dreaming of brighter times when spring finally shows it face 💕
    Happy New Year, lovely video 🥰

    Hey Matthew! -- You always seem eager to discover whether or not a flower has fragrance (me too!), I was expecting to see you sticking your face into those Chionanthus virginicus flowers, that's what I do every time I encounter one in bloom, as they are deliciously fragrant, at least here in North America! Perhaps the fragrance discussion got lost in the shuffle when the audio failed. Here in NW Oregon my first Arctostaphylos (Manzanita) has just started blooming!

    Ha, spring nonsense! I planted the American fringe tree in my garden after seeing it in full bloom at Schreiners Iris Gardens here in Oregon. I love it's lovely presence in the garden, and the flowers have the subtle scent of cotton candy.

    Thanks gentlemen! Informative as ever. A plant there I was unfamiliar with. Interesting to see the yellow Halimium as groundcover. I’ve grown both Cistus ladanifer & Brilliancy before. Great plants!

    Uk/Spain -- I read an article in Spain that the wild Cistus may have the potential to autocombust at 40°C is there any truth to this and do I need to worry about the more domestic varieties? I love your program by the way.

      I have a theory that the weirder a thing a plant is accused of, the cooler it is! Does it have a nice smell? The most flammable things are always the best smelling things like rosemary and eucalyptus due to their high volatile oil content.

    • @stevenrowson4339
      @stevenrowson4339 29 дней назад

      @Hayley-sl9lm I don't think they have a smell but do produce a stick resinous substance on the leaves. I've seen thembwild throughout Spain, very pretty flowers of various colours, petals resemble crushed silk.

    Just watching now. Alas the positioning of your microphones is making it a bit of a jarring experience. Stephen’s microphone is too close to his mouth so he’s very loud & I’ve had to adjust the volume. This then means I struggle to hear Matthew. It does improve once Stephen shifts his mike to his jacket lapel.
