Fun fact: Filipinos hid their combat strategy of sword fighting (Filipino Martial Arts such as Kali) in the forms of folk/cultural dances of the Philippines. Spaniards were so scared of their well developed swordsmanship that they banned Filipinos from practicing it. "Dancing" was the only way for them to teach others without getting caught. Now the FMA is preserved through our national dances even after a few centuries.
Also, this was the reason why Barong Tagalog was enforced by the Spanish colonizer, so that they can see through the clothing if there are concealed weapons
I wouldn't believe that the so called invincible Spanish tercios that dominated European warfare would be scared of the native marcial art of the Philippines, specially if it was a sword based one, the Spanish troops were based on very long pikes, a good counter for close combat swords. They probably just didn't want the natives to revolt and so they banned the practice of combat arts

Lucy and George, after the pandemic, check out where they shot the film, Apocalypse Now, forgotten by those born after the 70s. Marlon Brando Martin Sheen et al In fact, Marlon Brando bought a house in the province near where they shot the iconic film. Thanks for the many useful info . I'm ashamed to say that I'm more familiar with places in Europe than the Philippines but I will certainly make up for it in the future. Cheers from getting better Spain!
Nice to hear that you wish to wear the Maria Clara and the Barong Tagalog. Would be best if you can do wear those on June 12th on the Independence Day of the Philippines. Would be waiting to see you, too, wearing these dresses.
Lucy&George should know why Gen. Douglas McArthur one said "Give me Ten Thousand Filipinos and I shall conquer the world" in his speech after the Korean War in the 50's. please react to "The battle of Yultong/Yuldong" in Korea.
Not many knew that most of the middle easter start studying their english in the Philippines while also taking Medical Study Like Becoming A Doctor from what i know and Met During The late 80’s. And back before the 2WW Filipino was already been hired as an Entertainment InHongkong and Thailand for We Sang Like the American Black and White...and Early Filipino Musician Thought them how to play Instrument and sing like a black singer. And Drag-queen start with Filipino Gays in the the late 80’s here in Japan and Thailand

Love you guys..you always react about Philippines I always watch your videos ...btw take care always guys..you always make me happy for watching ur videos react...muaaah muaaah and keep it up
Lucy, you can buy those filipino gowns and barong at the mall, sm rustans etc and have it tailored. Or have them specially made. You wear them to weddings or any black tie formal events.
Or do a road trip to Lumban, Laguna. Have them custom-made where they specialize the traditional style. Might as well checkout nearby places such as Paete (sculptures), Pagsanjan (falls), Kalayaan (Caliraya Lake), etc.
Tribal tattoos... Oooh, those are sacred ones. The hardest to get long ago. I heard Stories that If you have the gutts to get them, you have to challenge your rival and de-head him to earn the sacred tattoo. Even today, tribal war is a thing for Cordilleran mountain chains( largest natives in the Philippines, their only half filipinos)
For traditional clothes otmf the philippines your can go to the sm mall and see the department store, clothing and cultural filipino section ask for barongs/ barong tagalog and sayas. The “Ba” thing is pronounced with different intonations. Like for “chin” it’s BAba. For “down” it’s baBA.
Have you already visited the Kultura Store in any SM Malls? It is a must for foreigners and balikbayans (returning Filipinos) to visit that store. :)
Wanna know why S.Korea and Philippines have deeper relationship? Try reacting to Battle of Yultong. Looking forward to your videos! More power!
