We just talked about this LAST NIGHT before today's crazy Blink announcements. But, still a few questions are left unanswered. Could Matt still be in the live band? Is he out for good? Will they still play songs from their albums Nine and California?! What do you think???
Usually in these cases bands will pick up where they left before the departure of a member. So.. I don't think we will hear anything from California, Nine, or Matt Skiba on the tour.
I’m interested to see how they sound this time around, because Tom sounded significantly better on the latest AVA tour. His guitar playing was solid and his singing was the best I’ve ever heard live…..though that bar wasn’t set very high lol. I saw them on their first reunion tour in ‘09 and Tom was god awful on vocals and guitars, after this last AVA show I’m hopeful that he’ll sound better with Blink.
I want them to keep Matt and be a 4 piece with 2 guitars so live it sounds more like the records but promo photos show them as a 3 piece and so that's what I think they're gonna do; it's annoying because there seems to be no good reason to do it. They done Matt dirty.
Personally, i think Matt was alway a temp replacement but was agreed behind closed doors with the idea that tom might come back. I don’t think they would publicly kick him out due to people miss understanding the situation.
Good take. I never thought about them being a 4 pc. I was think how cool it would be if Alk3 and blink went on tour together so Matt can sing some of his blink songs.
It be weird if Tom didn't at least do some of the Matt songs because I mean they made Matt do all of the Tom stuff like Wishing Well, I Miss You, and etc. Kinda wouldn't be fair. What could work is maybe Tom doing Matt's stuff but "Tomify" it if you will to where it might sound good, cause one of Matt's strengths is his yelling, like in Darkside, obviously Tom doesn't sing that way, but they could rework it in live performances to where Tom makes it work
i personally did really like the last two albums with skiba, and personally do think they should continue on with skiba as a four piece, and have him just playing rhythm and vocals for his songs. it would be a shame just to drop california and nine, as they did have some really great songs on them. personally, I think they really have screwed him over here. excited for the new album and single on friday with tom again 🙌

I love Blink and i love Tom, Mark and Travis. but honestly i feel bad for Matt, they just kicked him out like a piece of trash. Alkaline Trío and Matt are awesome
same, it makes me a bit sad that he said that he was unsure about his status in the band but maybe matt kinda knew that his time was over, a fan asked him about it on IG, why he isnt seen in any blink posts and he responded with a comment saying "your guess is as good as mine, regardless im very thankful with my time in blink, we shall see.." i think matt maybe knew and probably was told not to say anything about it, but maybe that couldve hinted that he was saying "no, im out, thank you blink" regardless i think a formal announcement of matts departure wouldve been nice, maybe like a "thank you matt skiba" post on IG or something, cause i think that even through the ups and downs, matt did a great job in the band, he did it for 7 years, he had it quiet hard but to me he did it like a champ.... but anyways, its also good knews for alkaline trio cause matt can go back for real and do what he has always been doing. i think they spoke of making a new album in 2023, maybe theyll do a tour to support it,maybe thats the reason why he has no plans regarding this new era blink, but i think we need to keep an eye out to see what happens to him, like an actual confirmation from matt and blink regarding his status. though it would be nice for him to join them in some way

I know many people disagree with me but in my opinion Matt Skiba did a really good job and i personally love the album California sooo much ❤ the songs are so nostalgic, i really enjoy it. Even it was clear that Skiba was just temporary I think Blink182 is making a mistake by kicking him out. They should option for the 4 piece band. But since Blink 182 is literally kickkng Skiba out like a punished dog, i dont believe the 4 of them will ever be a band.

No actual Blink fan feels ok with Matt instead of Tom. If anything, give him a background role or something for harmonies and a second guitar but you could argue that’s not “Blink”. They need to record a good sounding record that has a little of the old Tom but shows a newer tone, AND he’s got to be able to do it live. So far the new song is just that, but of course we gotta hear Tom live.

Toms live tone before he left sucked ass because of how his amps were rigged up. He had 2 Fender Twins and 2 AC30s going but they rigged them up through some DI system bypassing some major components that actually make those amps sound good... but they obviously managed to f*ck that up. I think Tom has moved to the dark side of Kemper or something like that for a little while now with Angels And Airwaves. So let's hope he brings those on tour with Blink aswell.... To be honest, his tone was massive back in the day when he had the Mesas and Marshall going through the Mesa cabs. Even with his ES model.

Blink took a new pic without Matt so he’s definitely not gonna be in the band anymore they wouldn’t take a pic without Matt if he was in the band. IMO it would be better to keep Matt in the band because with Toms track record quitting Blink he likely will quit again then Matt will have to learn all the new stuff again but if he just stays with them he will already know they songs plus the band will sound fuller with 2 guitar players. I don’t remember all the details from the last time Tom quit but if I remember correctly didn’t blink have studio time booked and shows lined up when he quit last time? If that’s true that wasn’t fair to the studio, the fans, the venues, blinks road crew. I mean just think about all the people that work for and around the band so when something like that happens it screws a lot of people! Yeah it sucks for Mark and Travis too but they can afford to not work but most of the people that are involved like the road crew and all the venues crews count on them so if I was Mark or Travis I would keep Matt on I would be too worried that Toms only back for the money I mean just think about it he has barley toured with Ava, hasn’t toured with blink to get the huge paychecks, he sold off a bunch of gear a few years back, sold his publishing rights, he’s trying to get people to buy into his company, he got divorced a few years ago so it’s very possible he’s only doing it for the money and after a few years of touring he gets some millions back into his bank account he very well might quit again. He quit back in 2005 when blink was on Top of their career and then back in 2015 they were once again on top selling out arenas and he quits again. Very few musicians, actors or really anyone that’s doing something that’s very successful where they are making many millions of dollars legally quit. Only a very small amount of musicians ever make it to the level that Tom is at it’s nearly impossible for a musician to make enough money to survive nowadays and he just quit. It’s hard enough even for a big band to make it financially.

I'll never understand blink-182 is a family matt skiba never made any of the greatest hits like travis or Scott if he did then I would accept him with open arms but for him to not have any chemistry with Mark not enough to make quality albums together to call themselves blink-182 and for matt skiba to call himself an official blink-182 member and a suitable replacement for Tom but no he didn't California was passable nine was unforgivable now they have to bring their own family back together again to have the best work possible no hate to matt skiba but we love you Tom thank you for coming back we missed you
Matt’s tone is bad. He can’t do blink songs. Definitely the new songs/albums he made with the band is ok but he can’t make Tom’s sounds especially with the more iconic songs.
