  • This video shows various aspects of the custom firmware that's available for the Humax HDR-Fox T2 Freeview HD PVR. The process and much that you see, is also applicable to the HD-Fox T2.
First off you'll see how to download and install the custom firmware onto your box.
Next I'll show how to connect to the box for the first time, choose some packages to install (which give you extra functionality), then install them via the command line (telnet, via an app called Putty).
Next I show you what the web interface looks like (package = webif), then the mobile/iPhone web interface.
After that there's the Remote Scheduling web interface where you can remotely schedule recordings on your box.
And finally there's a look at the Custom TV Portal including the Sky Player which isn't yet available on the standard box!
Massive thanks to all the people who made all this possible!

Even with the new YouView DTR-T1010 and DTR-T1000 boxes on the shelves, I'll most likely be sticking with the Humax HDR-Fox T2.. the custom firmware & packages are such a brilliant addition to a solid product.

No; they use different software & the method for loading the custom firmware is likely blocked in the YouView version. They have talked about it on the Hummy forums & it doesn't look likely it'd be ported.

Are iPlayer and RUclips in HD? I read that apparently Skyplayer doesn't work any more? (permanent?)
Also, is it true that photos have to be resized to 16:9 ratio otherwise they get that funny stretched view that makes everyone look fat?
I have a LG HR650 which is a FreeviewHD/Bluray box, thinking about getting this as a replacement as i mainly use Freeview and streaming videos from PC and this one's ability to be controlled and even viewed from PCs/phones is really impressive.

You dont need to telnet into it any more. You just go the the web page of your humax and theres a web portal with a big button saying "Download web if".

Yeah, if you went to 192,168.1.11 before telnetting you would have still had a webpage with a big button on saying "Install".

I didn't particularly want to do a voice-over, so that why there's helpful text, but yeah, there's no Mac-based walkthrough.. it shouldn't be too different.. just mount the USB stick in the same kind of way, rename the files & you're off.
