I’ve had two laying worker colonies in the last 12 mos. Put a frame of both milk brood and capped brood one week then mixed brood with an uncapped queen cell the next week. I think the smell of the milk brood suppressed the laying workers, the capped brood hatched and provided nurse bees and the QC developed as their own queen. Bees are so cool! Keep on with these long videos- really helps to see your thought process!!😄
Love the idea that you’ll do videos going through inspections with other local beekeepers, can’t wait to see some of those. Thanks for another great video, with lots of easy to follow commentary 😊
It has been a nice day today at 21°C, I recently got a SGS 24L air compressor and SGS NailGun. I have been making supers up today for my next inspection at the bees as I had used my last super last week.
Need to ask advice - if bees are back filling the brood nest with nectar am I right in thinking the colony is queen less. Great advice about laying workers as I’ve just tried tossing them out and still have a colony with laying workers 🤷♀️ I’m going to keep taking out the drone brood as I can - and the colony have rewarded me with about 10 frames of sealed honey 🎉
A rather extreme way to correct laying workers:- Replace the combs with frames of foundation. Add a queen cell. Feed with 2 to one syrup. No super on the colony, and number of foundation frames reduced to about 5. The laying workers have nowhere to lay. The bees have to put their attention to drawing comb and keeping the queen cell warm. It did work.
Another great video, remover we can zoom in on are end to see what ever we won’t to with out you having to keep coming over… always learning from you keep up the good work
Agree with the improvement in the weather for mating, as had the two colonies I removed the OQ's and one already mated. 2nd git a frame wuth eggscand larvae to see if they draw out emergency queencells and will give them a 2nd go begore I either combine or go another route
Many years ago when I first started keeping bees I was given my first colony which had a New Zealand gold queen ( that’s what I was told it was) it was a very calm colony. Have you ever come across these?
Ha I am in the USA I am just asking u a question I am not telling u what to do with your bees so do not be offended by my question, no offence intended, why dont you just combine them u can divide the boxes up and put 1 box on 1 hive and another on another hive it is easy slap the box on top of a strong hive, they kill the laying workers and the rest of the bees continue on helping the hive you gave them to. your comb is not messed up it is less work. Enjoyed your video, hope u have a great week
Love watching your live inspections Lawrence, mistakes and all. Please keep sharing your experience and knowledge with the bees. 🐝✌️💜🌼🍯

Lucky dip is a FANTASTIC marketing idea. But the price point has to be right.
I’m glad you’ve got great weather… I’m in cold and drizzly weather 🤷🏻♀️😳

Brilliant. How you getting on with the hive stands? Thinking of getting some on the borage next year as the ground is all over the place
I like your controversial digs, the amm is pretty much hybridised at this point but ‘purists’ will differ. I’m with you on this Laurence
Fantastic advice once again… I will continue to invest in BMH . It’s all about customer support and loyalty

I usually add 1 frame of capped brood which suppresses any more starting to lay then add a capped queen cell and it works every time

Hi do you Shipp your Bees To The U.S. Thanks
US don’t import bees
The spunky beehive must of taken weeks to decorate. Be careful of repatative strain syndrome.
hi sorry your Queens
