- On this episode we disembark from our Marine Atlantic ferry in Port aux Basque, Newfoundland and find an amazing boondocking spot in Wreckhouse. From there we head to the UNESCO World Heritage Site and renowned Canadian National Park - Gros Morne.
In Gros Morne we explore the other-worldly Tablelands and the wreckage of the SS Ethie. We also take a boat tour (Bon Tours) of Western Brook Pond, a spectacular fresh-water fiord, and hike the Coastal Trail and Green Point Trail.
And from our campsite at Green Point Campground near Rocky Harbour we experience the most beautiful sunset we have ever seen.

What a magnificent sunset!
Thank you Tracy, it really was. Some people might not believe it but we did not boost or enhance the colour s - thats the real footage - it really was the most beautiful sunset we’ve ever seen.
What a perfect day to tour Brook Pond.
Because we were there in very early June, before it got really busy, we were able to watch the forecast and pick what was supposed to be the best weather day, and just book it a couple days in advance.
@@TrueNorthCamping smart!!!
What an amazing sunset!! We visited there in 2008 and are planning on returning next summer. Thanks for the info, its helping us plan where to visit next time around 😊.
Glad it was helpful! Have an amazing adventure!!
Beautiful sunset! I have seen a few vides of Gros Morne and it does look fabulous. Thanks for being real! Really appreciated your videos last year. Too bad you were not able to explore much of Jasper. My favorite place, I am so sad at all of the damage. We live near Edmonton, so we go a few times a year.
Thanks Michelle! We are hoping to get back to Alberta and BC in 2026. We really are looking forward to exploring that area, especially Jasper!
Great video, thanks for sharing. Ranger is a cutie.
Thanks so much territ, we’re glad you enjoyed it. And yes, Ranger is an amazing dog! We genuinely feel blessed hes part of our family.
Double hitter for us tonight lol, we enjoyed it so much I think we'll probably make it a triple ....
Glad you're enjoying the series Tucker!
Did the full trail to the top of Gros Morne once, but that was in 1979. Hoping to do it again next spring, but by then it will have been 46 years... We will see... Continued safe travels.
Hope you make it to the top!! Have a wonderful trip!!
Views are very nice. It seems so cold. May would be to early for me. Also seems very hard to get there. I Watched past videos. I live in MO. USA. Vacations this year have had lots of drama. Person has to do things to go on vacation, get up early. miss sleep getting somewhere late. Fighting crowds and drama with that and boats are bit much. We got left by the boat, no return. Had get small plane to catch big plane. $$$ about 700, extra weight of bags was 165 of that, over 200 for room for the night few hours. The flight in small plane was very nice through and since they stay low you get see a lot.
We’ll be there next summer. We’re planning 2 weeks in Gros Morne, do you think that’s too long?
It probably would be too long for us…we were there a total of 5 nights and certainly didn’t see everything but we did get a real appreciation of the park. There were a couple of hikes that we missed and would like to have taken that we could have squeezed into a couple more days - so taht would be a week….but hey, thats just us…everyone has different interests and desires! Hope that helps! Have an amazing trip!!!
What do you do with your dog when you go out exploring like this?
Ranger stays in the trailer. If its at all warm we get a site with electricity so the a/c will come on if needed, and hes always quiet and not at all destructive. We’ve recently installed a combination lock on the door just in case we got really delayed we could contact the campground and ask them to check on him if it was going to be an exceptionally long delay.
@@TrueNorthCamping I always wanted to travel with a dog, but I would worry too much about him when I am away. Are you ever worried that the a/c may not come on even though you have set it to do so?
@@KyleLutes-vn1rt wouldn’t be worried about the trailers a/c itself - but if storms were predicted and power outages possible probably wouldn’t leave him alone that day. If the area has wifi there are monitoring systems you can leave in the trailer that can alert you to high temperatures or power outages. Fortunately our long journeys so far to alaska and Newfoundland did have much in the way of hot weather.
