Seattle man accused of fatally shooting his 9-month-old sleeping child has 14 felonies

- A 35-year-old man is being held on $5 million bail, suspected of shooting and killing his sleeping 9-month-old baby and shooting at two others.
Seattle police responded to the shooting scene on the 3000 block of 21st Ave W in the Magnolia neighborhood Wednesday night at around 6:30 p.m.
Officers arrived to find a woman who told them her child was dead after being shot in the head. Seattle police initially detained two people in relation to the fatal shooting, but through their investigation only placed one person under arrest, the child's 35-year-old father.
Prosecutors believe the child's murder was premeditated, but the suspect’s defense attorney indicated in court Thursday the suspect shot because he thought there were demons and the gun was filled with blanks.

Having been a criminal investigator (murders, assault, all of it) and police officer - now being an attorney, I must say defense attorneys are necessary and they have an ethical responsibility to defend their client in a system that sometimes overcharges and convicts unfairly. Hopefully the attorney will get him to plea and his sentence will be commiserate with the crime. Many many years (or life) in jail; depending on all circumstances.
@@jo-qp7mz That lawyer is likely a public defender doing the job he was appointed by the people to do. Settle down, he's not responsible for the acts of the defendant, or the facts in the case. His job, as mandated by the people AND The Constitution, is to act as an advocate for the accused, whether he wants to or not. I doubt he's happy about it, given the tiny salary that We The People pay him.

So this felon has 14 convictions and still in public ? This woman who had a child with this man has to wonder what she was thinking . This is bad decisions one right after another after another. This ended badly for mom and baby.
Not excusing anything he has done, but if he had convictions, he probably already served his time... so, yeah, he's allowed to be in public. And those were more than 10 years ago, so possible the mother had no idea about his past.

just to toss this out there... a lot of Asian cultures use fireworks to "scare away the demons". Not defending this guy in any way, what he did was reprehensible, just saying that humans do use sudden, loud bangs for the reason stated.

Y did it take the mother 20 minutes to check on her baby? I'm also fed up with criminals using the I smoked PCP etc as a mental health excuse to reduce their culpability. If you drink and drive and cause a death you are sent to prison. Taking drugs and alcohol is your choice, therefore, you are still responsible for your actions.
