- Barry has decided to do a video series on different issues that he finds while rebuilding. Things that don't happen often but can cause issues when they do.
This video shows a fix for issues with your kickout.

Thanks much, Barry.
They say the distinction of a good engineer and everyone else is knowing when and when not to hit something with a hammer, that the best demonstration I have ever seen.
38 year machinist here. Never had this issue on a Bridgeport but it warm my heart to know it can be fixed by whacking it with a hammer. New viewer. New sub. Thanks.
Thanks, Barry, this is exceptionally helpful!
Had this same problem on an older machine, it was sold but if my newer machine starts acting up, I know how to fix it, thanks!
What a timely video. I have that very problem. Thank you
Finally seen a precision hammer in action 👍🏼
Nice Barry!! thank you
Would be great if you explained why you're bending the lever. And how the clutch should be set from the factory. The spring pressure can be increased or decreased, I just don't know what the factory setting is.
Very helpful tip and well demonstrated. Thank you for sharing.
These videos are gold.
Thank you for all your video's
Nice fix! Love it! Hey, do y'all have like a diagnostic video with different issues & sounds? I've been looking around for vids with what "normal" sounds like. There are many opinions. The machine in this video seems exceptionally quiet and I'd sure like to get my machine to that point.
No, but we have through about doing something like that. Some of our biggest issues in doing that would be 1) to find machines with all the different noises we want to showcase, and 2) getting the noises to sound correct through the video. The audio tends to get really distorted and we don't have the professional grade stuff to make it work. If you run into a noise you can't figure out give us a call, we can usually diagnose it over the phone: 1-800-285-5271
Excellent. Thank you. Perhaps I’ll post something here.
@@HWMachRepairI'm over in Toledo, my J head Bridgeport makes a slight "knocking" sound. You're more than welcome to come fix it and make a video! 😂
Thanks for the video. My issue is that the lever to engage the feed doesn’t stay in place - it has to be held in place by hand. Aside from that the power feed works fine.
Alliant mill purchased new in 1989 with very little use
Thanks
We would like to do a video on this in the near future, we just need to wait for a head to come across our bench with that issue. For now, it could be a few different things, if you want to give us a call and talk to Barry or Heather they should be able to give you some things to look at 1-800-285-5271
Having an issue when I secure the clutch cover it ratchets, if I back the cover screws out slightly the ratcheting stops so by adjusting the brass kick out arm we essentially find the sweet spot, seems simple enough… my question is, tapping the arm out as shown does? Adjusting it in (opposite) does? Trying to understand the science
Adjusting the brass arm further away from the quill housing will make the overload clutch gears mesh together more. Adjusting the brass arm towards the quill housing will make the overload clutch gears NOT mesh as much. You want to adjust it towards the quill housing slightly to get the clicking to stop. You should also check out the quill power downfeed adjustment video. That will help with your issue as well. ruclips.net/video/G1E5IYd_eXs/видео.html
I have another issue with out mill. When I pull the power feed handle it will not lock in. I have to hold the lever over for it to feed.
That could be one of several different problems. I will be addressing that in a future video but for the time being give me a call at 800-285-5271 and I will be able to walk you through the possibilities on the phone. -Barry
Great video as always, could you please add a link to your website and a description?
The link and description is in the description box under the video on a web browser or if you are watching on your phone it should be right under the title, you just need to press the "...more" if it's not showing.
When I think about adding the link, I think it’s clickable. That is when you click on it it takes you right to your website. Make it easy on us so we can buy your products. Versus just putting the website in a description we either have to copy and paste it or look it up ourselves.
What if it’s doing the opposite affect? You put light pressure on the handle and it stops the auto feed.
If it is actually stopping the auto feed you may have a sheared pin in the shaft. Give us a call at 800-285-5271 so we can discuss your exact problem over the phone. -Barry
I’m not sure how that’s going to work with a brass arm? More than likely will probably snap it?
The majority of the ones that I do are brass and never have any issues. if you would like to discuss you can give me a call at 1-800-285-5271 -Barry
👍👍😎👍👍
Great Video, very helpful.
