  • This is a new kit for the top part of the upper half of the machine. It is going to be most useful for people who are having noise in the bushing area and want to make sure everything is changed out properly.

You make it look so easy. Experience will do that for you. Thanks for keeping these wonderful machines running like they should. I can't imagine life without a Bridgeport and I'm just a hobbiest.

Thanks Barry for your very practical instructions on refreshing the top half. I have a rebuild kit ordered now that should be here in a few days. Can't wait to get my noisy 2 HP Bridgeport head quietened down again.

I have that same noise up high. I am 90% sure its the bearing in that cap. My disks and belt and all that is fresh thanks to yall. I may just order that bearing and make sure I have the wavy washer.

When re-installing the snap rings, make sure they are properly (completely) seated in the groves. Guess how I learned to double check...

Does anyone know the correct number of links in the speed adjust chain? I'm asking because the lowest spindle speed my machine will adjust to is 154 RPM, with the speed dial indicating that the lowest speed in low range should be 60RPM. Causing me to suspect that the chain may be too long, preventing the rocker plate from pulling the top half of the front pully down far enough to achieve minimum speed.

You forgot to tighten cover screws after top bearing cap was installed.

My machine is making pretty much that exact noise. What are signs of needing to do a whole top half rebuild instead of the refresh?
